Please Help - Getting duplicated tasbar items
Auskalo replied to Auskalo's topic in Everything New Technology
Absolutely no idea? No comment? Is there probly something wrong with all my 3 postings? Bad wording? Private club, huh? Thanx folks and Greetz. ;( -
After startup I find my taskbar messed up. When I right click and verify which toolbars are checked I see one item called just "language bar", but other two with the name "THE language bar". After unlocking the taskbar there are more than the usual three separators. This causes the programs to appear twice (but not always). Also the OneNote icon appears twice again on the notification area. I was watching this behavior since it seemed to be solved with the OneNote story. It comes and goes with restart and toggling the OneNote icon. But the item multiplication seems also to happen independently from the OneNote issue. Its an awful experience. hope you can help me. Thanks.

I'm using OneNote 2003 and set to put an icon on the notification area. But when XP starts up I get two icons and a duplicated process for OneNote. Using a startup manager, I tried to disable OneNote one time from the Startup User folder and one time from the Startup Common, but then it disappears completely from the systray. I used the shortcut repair feature of OneNote, but the same old story starts again. Do I have wrong settings on my XP?

I assume you couldnt delete them with avast itself nor send them to the chest. So try deleting them manually and permanently by shift+del or rename them. If necessary in safe mode.

I assume you cannot delete them with avast nor send them to the virus chest. Then what I do when avast fails is to go for the files and rename them manually Or delete them permanently with shift+del.

Does anyone use more than one or two languages on WinXP? Well, I'm having trouble with a feature that seems to have improved Windows functionality on a "global" environment. Or maybe I am wrong. So, please help me if that's the case. As translation school student, I have to use english, german, and chinese on my pc. I have no problem with my apps, since they all have an english interface. The real problem rises when I have to manage different folders and files labeled with original foreign names. Though I can read them on Windows Explorer, I cannot open them into some apps, like Acrobat. The only workaround I have is to change the setting in Regional and Language Options>Advanced>language of non-Unicode programs. But, if I choose eg Chinese I have to restart WinXP and then I can't read the folders or files named in german, you know, cos ü, ä, ß become chinese characters... The second annoying thing is why should I ever have to use a feature thought for foreign version PROGRAMS (my acrobat is english) in order to get foreign file names opened in an english app??? I don't know if you have already experienced this, or I missed something... For now, I only think MS should speak of By-choice-BIlingual interfaces instead of MULTIlingual tools... Thanx for any feedback.
