    Age Of Empires III error

Pretty much. What you can do is create a folder on your C:\ drive and drag the contents of your CD into that file. Usually, you will receive this message when there is a scratch on the CD itself. You may want to try copying the CD to see if that helps you out as well. Unless the scratch is really bad, you should be able to successfully copy the disc.

    Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Problems

Does your entire PC freeze or just the application? You may need to update your video drivers or even ActiveX to the latest version.

    Laptop or desktop Ram

Well, these newer desktops that he is speaking of are most likely the ulta small ones with external power supplies. Even then, it's unlikely that they would require laptop RAM. It'd have to be quite small and quite compact.

    Laptop or desktop Ram

Laptop RAM will not work on a PC. The easiest way to explain this is with the size. That small of a memory stick is not going to fit into the RAM slots on your motherboard. Also, take a look at your PC's RAM. Notice the notch around the center of the stick? That's there to ensure that you install the RAM correctly. The laptop RAM is not going to fit into your system because it is laptop RAM, which is made for laptops. Despite the fact that you shouldn't have to do this, you're going to have to explain this concept to the support staff. Read off the numbers that are on the RAM package and explain to them that despite what their systems tell them, this is the wrong RAM. I'd say give them one more chance before sending it back and taking your business elsewhere.

    change windows device friendlyname

You should be able to log in directly to your router via a browser. Once inside, you can change the name of the device, along with the network's name, administrator password (which you should do) and change the wireless networking security to be secured (this will keep outsiders off your network).

    best antivirus??

If you do stick with Norton, my advice is to stay away for the packaged suites, as long as you know what you're doing. From my experience, these suites are really for the common user who is not very Internet savvy, much like people who still use AOL. It's great for controlling content for a family or if you know very little about what's going on. However, I found them to be incredibly annoying and resource intensive. Just a heads up.

    Compaq nc6220 won't boot

Are you able to boot into Safe Mode? When your machine locks up the way you are describing, it is usally an IRQ issue. Have you recently installed any new hardware? Also, do you hear any strange clicking noises before or when it freezes?

    port com 3

Have you gone to the Panasonic web site and seen if they have the software you are looking for? Also, when the machine tries to detect the device, try to do it manually and select it via the USB port.

    Screen Print

Keep in mind that if you us Paint, don't print the image directly from there. For some reason, it tends to break up the image into two pages (maybe more) right down the middle.

Excel 2007: formulas changed to =#N/A

Unfortunately, this situation is getting worse. More and more of our spreadsheets are showing up with this problem, which leads me to reason that this is not a simple file corruption, as Microsoft claims it to be. This appears to be more related to the Office 2007 upgrade and using templates which were based on the 97-2003 file formats (*.xls), despite the fact that Microsoft claims these files should function normally in compatibility mode. Some of the files in question contain user-created macros and some do not. As a test, we've saved some of these templates as the 2007 file format (*.xlsx) and saved the ones with macros as macro-enabled 2007 file format (*.xlsm). It's going to take weeks of testing, however, to determine whether or not this helps prevent future problems of this nature. Needless to say, no one here is happy with what is happening to our files, and because I was in charge of the 2007 upgrade, all the heat is falling on me. Before upgrading, I had run compatibility scanning tools. Nothing like this showed up on the scans, so I doubt seriously that this was an oversight by my department. BIG help needed here.

Removing Networking Login - XP pro

If you cannot get into the system without a password, see if there is a checkbox for "workstation only." Depending on what networking client has been installed, this may or maynot be an option. If there is a drop-down box after clicking "Advanced" at the Windows login screen, select the name of the machine, then try the credentials you were supplied. Essentially, you want to be logging into the local machine instead of the network. Once that gets you in, perform the steps that peterh described.

New Motherboard & SATA 0X0000007B XP Problem

Do you think that you might need to install 3rd party SCSI drivers for your CD-ROM to properly load? Because this is a custom build, there may be a necessity to do so. I'm sure you have probably already looked at this article, but if not, it might give you some other directions to go in: Advanced troubleshooting for "STOP 0x0000007B" errors in Windows XP.

    Windows Logs in... Then out!

In all honesty, it really does seem like a memory issue, especially since you said you had recently installed new memory. Try removing the new memory and see if that improves your situation.

Excel 2007: formulas changed to =#N/A

Microsoft offered no help with this. I called up and spent more time informing them of an issue which they knew nothing about than getting any help. Their response? They e-mailed me with a link to a document describing the best tips to prevent file corruption, all of which we employ already. Thank you so much, Microsoft Support. Essentially, all repairs must be performed manually. If anyone finds a better solution or reason for this occurring, please let me know. Staff is not happy with hearing "Sorry, but the file is corrupted and no one knows why or how to easily repair it."

    Windows Logs in... Then out!

The BSOD will be the biggest part here. When you get it, write down all of the information and post it in here. The STOP error will help you pin-point what is causing the problem and may help to solve it. Despite how new the laptop is, it could still be related to memory or motherboard, or maybe just a driver issue; sometimes it's just a manufacturing flaw. As for the registry, I'd suggest backing it up before you fool with it. To get into it, go to Start | Run, and type regedit. This will open up the registry for you. Just be careful and try to troubleshoot the BSOD before you fool with this. Edit: Also, what OS are you running?

Anyone know how to get rid of this?

Check your IIS settings and see if there is a web or FTP site running in the background. You can get to this via Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Internet Information Services. If you see a "cesa" service running, you can stop/disable it. That will stop it from trying to connection outside your network.

Event ID 11 when going into or out of standby

I checked the error at eventid.net and got this explaination: Event ID 11 for Cdrom The three cases that were discussed here were (1) faulty cable connection, (2) UDMA settings enabled (which they shouldn't be for a CD-ROM drive), and (3) a problem with the CD. Since you said they drives seem to operate fine, my guess is that (1) is not the issue. You still might want to check the cables anyways, just to rule that out. If you have CDs in the drive when coming out of hibernation, try removing all media from the drives and see if you still get the error. If not, then it might be with the customized CDs. Check the UDMA settings on the drives and ensure that they are turned off.

Dungeon Keeper 1 : Trouble with starting up

When you run the installation, do so in compatability mode. To do this, right-click on the application and select properties. Once the window opens, select the Compatibility tab and select the appropriate options. See if that helps you out. You are most likely going to have to do the same for when you want to play the game itself. You should only have to make this change once.

In the above quote in bold, you stated that these sites do indeed work at the internet cafe. I'm a bit confused by that. If they do not work, then you should ask the tech. at the cafe what the deal is. There might be restrictions as to what you can view, but I'm not entirely sure about that. Worst case scenario, you can rule out content censorship. You also stated that the WiFi worked fine as far south as Guatemala but not any further south of Costa Rica. I'm wondering if there is any sort of hardware compatibility issue, seeing as at that point you are about to cross over into South America. They might be using a different band of 802.11. With all the traveling you do, do you know if you have this problem on any other continent? I know it sounds wierd asking this, but it's all that is coming to my head at the moment.

    Dialup 718 Error

Windows Server 2003 is quite different from Windows 2000. In fact, you'll notice that it is more like Windows XP SP2. With that in mind, you should take a look at the firewall setting on the 2003 machine, as this could be preventing some communication issues within the domain. Also, what is the function on this 2003 server? I assume that it is obviously the DC, correct? Is it also the proxy?

How to get old games to work in vista home premium

If you have an installation disc of an older OS, then this will be an easy fix for you. Install Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007, which is 100% completely free. Once installed, you can install an older OS onto the virtual machine, which you can then run these applications. This is one of the main reasons why the application is free, because Vista doesn't work with a lot of things. I know some people are probably tired of hearing this suggestion from me, but it's one of the best solutions to this issue.
