I've got a Win2k server running RAID-5 on an Adaptec SCSI RAID 3210S adapter. The array contains 3 Maxtor AtlasIII 36GB SCSI HDD. The day before I decided to add one more HDD to the array. I used the Adaptec Storage Manager Pro to add the disk to the existing array and then reconfig it. However, after some time, I changed my mind and decided to config the disk as a hotspare instead of expanding the array. So I stopped the operation......then the Windows started to crash. I tried to reboot the server, but it can no longer be boot again. The array is broken. I would like to know if there's any way to recover the array. I've tried many possibilities, but still no luck. The problem is the newly added drive, is there a way to remove it from the original RAID? If it really cannot be recovered, can I get the data back from the broken array using some data recovery program (e.g. EasyRecovery Pro)?
