Hey Christian, everything I have found points to HP/Compaq as the problem. Here is a link about it. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00061410

Hi Deb, I have the same model as your daughter. The setup key is F2 and for the startup menu it is F12. I have 1 question for you. Are you using cable mouse and keyboard or are you using a wireless set up?
-
Hi All, Just a quick question here. Application Layer Gateway Service. Is it really needed or can it be disabled? Looking at Blackvipers site, he says you can set it up to run manually or you can disable it. When you click on the link for ALG he says that since SP2 has come out that you no longer need to run this service. What are your opinions on this service? Thanks everyone

Once you make the password all you will be able to do is change the password. Unless you make a new system admin on your system and then use it to delete your old passworded account.
-
If you have a computer administrator account on the computer Open User Accounts in Control Panel. Click your account name. Click Create a password. In Type a new password and Type the new password again to confirm, type the password for your account. You can also enter descriptive or meaningful text in Type a word or phrase to use as a password hint to help you remember your password. Click Create Password. If you have a limited account on the computer Open User Accounts in Control Panel. Click Create a password. In Type a new password and Type the new password again to confirm, type your password. You can also enter descriptive or meaningful text in Type a word or phrase to use as a password hint to help you remember your password. Click Create Password.

Sorry Arnnie, This is a legitimate site we don't help people who are doing things illegally or who want to do illegal things.
-
Sorry man, I have no idea why it is doing that. I don't know anything about that game. Does your computer resources match the games requirements to run properly?

Evil, you can download it here. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?dinput

Dan, Belarc Advisor will tell you all about your system. You can download it here. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1385

Thanks Sampson, I didn't even check the date before that guys post. Man I hate when that happens. I don't know if you saw my other post about yutao. Philipp said there should be a way to close old postings in the next upgrade. Well if someone else has HOST problems they can look at my post for help. :)
-
I have to agree with all of you. That yutao is a P.I.T.A. IS there nothing in the T.O.S. that it can be called on. Many times I have come online to help someone only to find that it has posted to a posting from 4 months to 2 years ago. From what Philipp has told me, there will be the ability to lock old posts in the next upgrade. So that should help abit.

Hi Ace, I did some googling and it says the Qhosts.apd is a modified HOST file. So lets get rid of that corrupt HOST file. Just go in and delete it. Now go here and download the HOSTS zip and unzip it to your HOSTS file. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm Then go here and download this program. It is called SpywareBlaster. It allows you to make a backup of your HOST files should anything happen to it. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2859 When you did your virus scans did you remember to turn off System Restore?? If you didn't it will just make a copy of the virus. Personally I don't care much for MacAfee, it never seems to work well for people I know. Your best bet might be to download a trial vesion of F-Secure or Kaspersky and run them, just remember to have the system restore off. The addy for F-secure is: http://esd.element5.com/demoreg.html?productid=300042690&languageid=1 The addy for Kaspersky is: http://www.kasperskyusa.com/promotions/t...apter=146481750 with Kaspersky after you fill out the form just hit enter. They don't have a button to click on. Do those things and come back and let us know what happened

Quick question....if there is such a thing
Cormac replied to jwl812's topic in Everything New Technology
JWL, if you are doing the monthly updates at Microsoft you are already downloading SP2 and SP3 hotfixes. Download Belarc Advisor 7.0t and run it and it will show you what SP's are already installed on your computer. You can get it here. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1385 Like Sampson I have not noticed any slowdowns from running SP2. -
Triston, go to this link and download the program. Then post the results of the scan in this thread. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3155
-
go to this thread and you will find the solution to your problem. http://www.ntcompatible.com/HELP_Laptop_recovery_t33660.html
-
Actually it mayn't have system restore. I assumed it did because of the pro aspect of the OS.
-
Triston, Also don't forget to turn off system restore when you do the scan. If you don't, then system restore just ends up keeping a copy of it. From the sounds of the problems you had with Norton and Trend, your HOST file may be corrupted. You can go here and get more info on HOST files and also download the HOST file this site has. I have used it for a year so far and have had no problems and it updates every month. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

I'm not sure if this will help you or not but they do discuss your soundcard there. http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=64721

Hi Philipp, I don't know if this is helpful or not. I use IE6 and everytime I log out I get this message, "Thanks. Cookies cleared. Click here to return to the main page" and then if I want to get back in I have to resign in.
-
Your welcome Domenica, if that doesn't work let me know and I will give you another link. Personally, I find I like XP Pro alot better the ME but it just takes time getting used to the difference's is all.
-
Hi Domenica, You can go here and get it. http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/flash.html
-
If you have the solution, it is far easier to post it here then to have people instant message you. Especially since you are not on here 24/7 when someone may need the solution. Also as far as I know there is no instant message available in this forum. P.S. Please single post your responses

Hi Everyone, Can any of you think of a really good hard drive defragement program. The one with Windows XP Pro is ok but there has to be alot better ones out there. It would be great if I could find a free one but even a paid program would be great to. Thanks for any suggestions you all have, Cormac

Ah, Sorry can't help with that one. I've never played it.
