Someone posted in here not to long ago a link for a site that tests anti-virus software. The site tested I think the top 25 programs. Can you repost the link? Thank you

Relic, here is a new link. Still not the one I am looking for but it looks to be a good site. http://www.checkvir.com/ I have searched the forums looking for that link but still no luck finding it yet. [Edited by cormac on 2005-10-21 02:27:41]

Traffic Officer, if you decide to purchase the ethernet cards make sure that they come with Cat 5 network cables. You will need them to attach your ethernet card to either your router or modem. One other option I forgot about, if you are unsure if you want to hook up a router, is to go with a hub setup. A hub is just a "glorified splitter". You willn't have the protection of a hard based firewall like you do with a router but hooking up a hub is real easy. It is just modem out to hub or router in and then out from the hub or router to your ethernet card and that is it. If you need any help with anything just let us know.

There are some modems out there that have routers built into them, NetGear does. You can also go out and buy a ethernet card for under 20 bucks and install it yourself. I seriously doubt that you are getting the full broadband experience from using your USB connection. Trust me you will see a huge difference between your dial up and broadband and wonder how you ever lived without broadband

Thanks for the link Relic it looks like a good site but the one I am looking for had more info on the types of viruses and trojans and gave more detail on each programs results. It also had a section of programs that were exclusive to their members only. I believe it was either American Zombie or Dos Freak that posted the link. I'll send a pm to them and see if they remember. Thanks again though

You are going to need to login to the webhost that is hosting your webpage with the info they should've sent you about your account. Once you log in you can then upload what you want to. Two things though. #1 if it is a free host site alot of them will not let you use your own templates, they will want you to use theirs. #2 alot of free hosts willn't allow you to use FTP. So you need to check with the host to see if they will let you. A really good free FTP program is Core Lite. You can get it here at Major Geeks. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4713 Ask you host for any info you will need to setup the program. When you log into your web host will have access to your control panel

My personal fav anti-virus is AVK from GDATA Software. It uses both Kaspersky's engine and BitDefenders Engine and the interface is a breeze to use.

IP bans are ok but they can be gotten around way to easily. There has to be a better way to make it permanent.

Hi Everyone, I hope one of you out there may have a solution to the problem I am having. I was setting up a user account on my win xp pro so I could get away from using the admin account. Well the user account froze up on me so I decided to delete it and go back to the admin account. I noticed in the delete section of the accounts that there was an option to either use a picture to log on with or a signin. When I had the admin account it was always a signin password so I unchecked the box for using pictures thinking it would go back to the way it used to be, with me signing in. Well to make a long story short, it didn't. It set up a new system for name and password and it didn't even let me choose a name or password. Now when it boots up it goes to the xp pro login and asks for a name and password. If it doesn't get the correct info it refuses to go any further. I tried booting to safemode to get around it and renable the picture logon and again the xp pro log in pops on screen as soon as you try to enter any info it freezes up. I tried booting to safemode with command prompt and it does the samething. I have looked at all options in safemode and none get me past that xp pro log in screen. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this problem? Thanks Everyone

Does anyone out there know of a program that is similar to CCleaner? My Bitdefender keeps saying it has a trojan in the program and refuses to run it. I have scanned the program at many places and only Bitdefender says there is a problem. Thanks for any help in advance

Have you tried using Google or Altavista? You can also get the cd fixed so it runs like new. There are many products that will "resurface" the cd. Plus there are sites that will do the work for you for a fee. This site charges $3.00 to do the job. http://www.cdtradepost.com/about.html

I scanned my computer for malware right after this program showed up. I used A squared and also Spybot, both scans came back clean. I deleted the programs access to the net and now I can no longer find it on my comp. So I will keep my eyes open for it incase it returns. Thanks for the help with this problem.
