Install and start it. Then on the main window, select "Multimedia" from the left panel, then "PCI /PnP Audio". You should see your soundcard(s). Now you know what sound card(s) you got.

I've had the same problem for 6 months and didn't know what soundcard I had. I've downloaded Everest and *kazam* there it was, then downloaded the drivers and *POOF*. IT WORKS!
I have my sound back!
