    Directplay8 error on Directx 9.0c

Hi AZ, Good News. As I said, removing DirectX key from registry did unload the incomplete DirectX application. Though I was unable to restore DirectX ver 8 at all, I was able to reinstall DirectX Ver 9.0b from one of my online games. This resolved my Network problem and I'm able to play my Networked games. Thanks a million. Hi Relic, I appreciate your suggestions also. However, the DirectX Eradicator 2.0 reported "This version of Windows is not supported." I'm running XP Home SP-2. (???) The full-Monty DX9 ran similarly to the 9.0c updates, that is, seemed to operate properly except jumped immediately to FINISH with "Now ready to use." and it's not there. I'm not in a hurry. I probably could even wait until 9.0d as my main trouble has been corrected. Thank you also.

    Directplay8 error on Directx 9.0c

Hi Again AZ, That was good advice but only half worked. Deleting the DIRECTX key in the registry did remove it. But restarting the PC did NOT reinstall anything. DXDIAG says DIRECT X VERSION: Not Found. Happy Uninstall says "Direct X Already Uninstalled." Running the 9.0c update that I have - DXWEBSETUP.EXE - says "FINISHED" as soon as it starts, but does nothing. I can restore the registry via an IMPORT of the copy I made before deleting the key, but that just restores the original problem. I'm seeking some other way to reinstall DIRECTX (any version). Thanks.

    Directplay8 error on Directx 9.0c

Thanks AZ for responding. Happy Uninstall won't work for me for several reasons including can't backup DX ver 8. etc. Would like to try the 'repair install' you suggested ... but my XP Home came installed on computer .... is there a way to 'extract' it? Or ... otherwise get it to run from within? Thanks again.

    Directplay8 error on Directx 9.0c

I am having the same problem. Have lost several directplay8 keys in the registry and the directx network tab shows the same errors you describe. Found these errors while trying to find why my Yu-Gi-Oh would not network with other computers who could. I look forward to you getting an answer on how to RE-load directplay8 - I don't think it gets loaded with DirectX ( I also have version 9.0c ). I even tried loading the DirectX SDK but it did not help.
