The CPU fan in my PC is noisy as hell! Will it affect my PC if I unplug it?

We need more info. You need to tell us exactly what is happening, are you just never progressing past the boot screen (windows logo) or are you receiving a blue screen of death before windows loads? What exactly were you doing before this happened?

I recently bought a new desk for my computer that allowed to stand my pc on its side(which it was designed for for). Ever since I have done this DVD burning with nero is very slow. Before it burned about 3gigs in 10 or so minutes but now it takes 40 minutes! Anyone know why this is its painful having to wait so long. Thanks

My PC is designed so it can be stood either laying down or standing on its side.

On my school network kids are changing the appearance of their windows and task bars. Instead of the dreary grey they are changing the colour to lilac and so on. Account restrictions prevent you from accessing anything controlling like desktop properties, does anyone have any idea how they are doing this? Thanks.

Just use Real Player its way better than WMP.

Is your PC a 'Time' make by any chance?

This happened to me and all I did was close the silly game that comes up during install.

Use this site http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srl Press 'Can you run it?' and you'll get a drop down menu, you'll have to scroll down pretty far and sure enough, past the sims 2 there is the sims deluxe edition. It will then test your PC and say why and why you can't run it.

So Windows Vista is launched tommorrow and I'm going to go out and get it although I still want to keep my XP installation. I have 2 HDDs. The first is 80GB and is the primary drive with XP. The second is 250GB. I want to install Vista onto the 250GB HDD, if I do this how will I dual boot. Also will it boot straight into Vista or continue booting into XP before I configure it? Please advise.

I am running Windows XP Pro and want to stop my sister who uses a Limited account from being able to access the control panel. I know this can be done by using the Group Policy Editor but it blocks it for me as well my sisters account. Does anyone know how I can set it up so it blocks her but not me?

I want to get another HDD for my PC to use as well the one that is already in it. I looked in my PC and both IDE ports are taken but on the cable connected to my current HDD there is another plug attactched. Can I use this and have two harddrives pluged into one IDE port or will I simple only be able to use one hard drive?

Yeah I installed it using the second one down and all works fine!!

So I have my PC connected to my monitor and my TV. I'm using the monitor as the primary and the TV as the secondary (extended) windows desktop. Whenever I open Real video files in realplayer they play fine on the monitor but when I drag the window onto the TV the video dissapears! this doesn't happen when I open them in WMP. Any ideas?

So I can have 2 plugged into one port

I just had windows re-installed on my PC and whenever I connect a USB device it makes that Do-Dum sound but nothing else happens - it doesn't install my hardware. The only way it will work is if I enter device manager right click on the device (which has a question mark icon) and select Update Driver. Also when I click the icon that appears next to the time and press 'Safely remove device' it doesn't show the bubble to say it is safe to remove. Any ideas?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

It doesn't work, the installer loads and then it says 'The hardware device was not detected. Try removing it and installing again.'
