    Device drivers w/Ubuntu

I just installed Ubuntu 8.04-1 on a machine, and the video and audio are not working properly. The video will not reach it's fullest resolution, and I cannot make the audio what it's supposed to. I have the motherboard support CD with all the windoze drivers on it, but don't know how to use them to work in Linux. Any advise or suggestions. Thanks

    Device drivers w/Ubuntu

I have cleaned off the machine and installed 9.04, and still have the problems I had before. I could post my lspci if that would help.
  3. I know I'm supposed to read posts and gather what I can, and I have read. I have read so much I now have a killer headache, and am no farther than I was when I started. Simply, I have a Win2k box and a dual-boot Win2k/RH Linux 8 box, 3Com 905B-TX cards in each, going through a router (each box recognizes it's card, and each box hits internet without a problem, and each box sees the other under Win2k). But, even after reading Red Hat manuals, and posts on several other forums, I cannot make the Linux box see the Win box (or vice-versa) Any tutorials written in plain English for brain-dead dumb-a**es like me? (Tutorials also needed for setting up php, mysql, perl, and any good FTP server available) Thanks...

    DSL LiveCD

I have been trying for several days to build a LiveCD with the DSL (Damn Small Linux) ISO without any luck. According to what I was told, simply download dsl-1.5.iso, and burn it to a CD, and it will work. Well, I've tried it 3 different times, and all I got is 3 unuseable CDs. All they have in the root directory is an INDEX.HTML file and 3 directories: (1) boot, with subdirectory isolinux, with the following files: boot.cat, boot.msg, f2, f3, german.kbd, isolinux.bin, isolinux.cfg, linux24, logo.16, and minirt24.gz (2) KNOPPIX, with the file KNOPPIX (3) lost+found And even as much a noob as I am, I know there has to be more in the root directory to make it work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...
