SO it was doing all this crap before you upgrade from whatever you had to now ... ok that could me there's alot of dust in your key board and it press the windows button, or your mouse is probably an optical one like mine and you arn't using one of those little pads under it which would be a good idea to try because the mouse will move to one of the corners and whevever you click bam the close button

The computer did not use to do this and i am not very tech savvy, any suggestions? When you say this you mean it closes out of all the current programs you are running and goes back to the main desktop with all your icons? Or do you mean you have to restart your computer? Also have you recently upgraded and or changed any of your computer parts/hardware?

I'm having an extremely hard time trying to setup my home network at my dad's house. The connection work's like this hub router (supposed to create wirless but thats another problem) computer xbox but here's what happens I have my computer working fine then I want to get on the xbox so i plug that bad boy in to the router and the only way i get it to connect is if i power wash it causing my computer to loose connection. I can't access the ipconfig in command because i've changed the settings for creating java files but i don't think renewing that would help, umm i've tried plugging in a laptop to the router but my computer only allows LAN connection which is what the problem is.

I'm having trouble connecting my laptop to my xbox 360 via crossover cable to laptop which gets its internet from a netgear router, which is connected to a hub which goes to the main comp. what happens is i enable the onboard ethernet port which disables the wireless which stops the internet from working on both and i can't connect without the ethernet enabled any ideas?

CANT GET THIS GFORCE CARD TO WORK!!! HELP!!!!
gef4000 mx replied to untoldrevenge's topic in Hardware
Umm if you look at my name i have great experiences with card ! Not really the best actually i hate the card personally but anyways you need to disable/unistall your old card first, to do this go to start-control panel-system scroll over to the hardware tab then device manager then you should see a video card/graphics card unistall it and if you can't unistall it then you have to go the more complicated way ... but if you can unistall it then all you have to do is insert your new card and plug the monitor cord in the back of it then start her up and run the software, if you have to go the complicated way then restart your computer to acces your bios to do this tap generally f1, f2, delete key or someother key it'll say in the startup screen then go to perphirals (normaly) then find the option for your on-board graphics card and disable it then insert your card plug the monitor cord into it and turn on the computer and install the software if you can't find your on-board graphics card you might have to update your bios which you could normally find from your computers company website hope this helps -
like i said i do not know enough to say for sure but the most logical would by adware, spyware, virus, or even a worm(not likely) but i would highely suggest running norton or your anti adware/spyware software but you said you reformatted it many times does that include durring the time the crashes started?
-
Did you unistall your first video card and if you have an on-board card did you disable it, if you did all that you might have to update your bios version or thats what I had to do with my 9250 ati raedon personally i like nvidia better

Hmmm ... at first if it wasn't spyware I thought your computer might be getting over heated and shutting down but since it just freezes that means its got to be something else, im not too sure but your memory might be insufficient, but I really don't know. On my dad's computer it always used to freeze and i'd have to restart it but then, I upgraded memory and it appeared to happen less often. But that wouldn't explain why your internet speeds are so slow ... sorry but i really don't know what to say or look for ...

Everyone can point, laugh, throw stones at me if you want, but I have little clue on what Overclocking and Mobo means .... I know it increases perfomance speeds and stuff but can someone please give me a text-book definition and then a simplified version of the text-book defintion and if you're doing nothing else then maybe an example of how to overclock your computer ...

Can you send us a link of a page that has funky lines on it?

All right im not going to pretend to be an expert with your problem, but a wise thing to do would run your anti-virus software, anti-adware/spyware software. Do you have dial-up, dsl, or cable internet. What operating system do you run on? (windows 98, 2000, xp...)If you run something in your CD drive do you hear a humming noise which would mean your computer's fan would be turning on properly, and when you say your computer crashes you mean it freezes and makes you restart it right?

First off im not sure if this is a hardware or software question but anyways i was wandering if there was a way to record what was on my TV using an S-video cord going from TV to computer's graphic's obsolete graphics card (visiontec ati raedon 9250 pro) or do you have to get an all wonder card and use that with a certain software .... appreciate any help

I am going to be making my first computer from scratch. I need as much suggestions and helpful links to help me choose from the tower to the motherboard to pretty much how to put it all together. I have no idea what will go wrong so any helpful advice would also be appreciated. Another thing is to rember price is important and I'm probably going to be mixmatching alot of things. I already have a spare video card, monitor. What I need is suggestions for everything else. I hope I gave enough information to where you can see what I need to know or need to get for this project.

haha allright thank you all for your help I'm going to be getting each product one at a time from newegg.com when I get off the couch and start working for some money, it totals out around $560 but then there's like $40 mail-in rebates, so I think it's pretty good price
-
well actually is there anything really bad about the 3200 or the 3500 cause that seems more in range price wise and if it is then I am able to get started collecting my parts
-
Sounds good so if I go with the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard the CPU I should get would be a ... sorry I'm having trouble finding that but im thinking it would be the AMD Anthlon 64 4000+ (socket939)
-
I'm trying to stay away from AMD they seem to me from alot of reviews to be kinda I don't know slow and plastic. I don't know what to do everyone is saying go with it it's better but I can't see how it is and also I'm on a pretty tight budget but i just need a motherboard that can take constant upgrading from swapping vidcards and mem sticks that DFI Lan party seems pretty good I'll have to check it out more but, can you please explain how AMD is better then intel I have been curious about that for the longest of time.

Do you have an idea what type of pavillion it is? If you don't it is normally on the front of the model and it'll say pavillion then like a1200 or something like that. But as Relic was saying your card was somehow messed with and your onboard graphics card was enabled, now to get to the bios on your computer I have no idea how it is setup for a pavillion of any model but on everycomputer I have ever worked with all you have to do is restart your computer and tap one of the following f10, f11, f12, or the delete key. Once in your bios there will be a choice that is like perpheral settings or something of the sort, you then click down until there press enter, then you will see a choice about a video card or onboard graphics or something like that once again I don't know alot about pavillions, then scroll down until you see the video card choice and disable it. Exit saving your changes then switch the cord back to your Card and if that's all it was then it should work. But like Relic we would need details like model number and possibly specif details on the video card and how old it is and stuff like that and if you could find out your bios name that would be most helpful! -
well i guess I would probably lean toward's game more, but it is just mainly to show to my dad that I can make a computer and it is going to be better then anything from dell those cheap peices of ... and I'm going to be planning on changing when I have enough money to upgrade something.

Ok here's what I would like, a motherboard that is really just outstanding and won't need to be changed for several years(5), a CPU with at least 2.8 Ghz(with 2mb of L2 Cache ), and is all compatible with my AGP Nvidia geforce 6600 GT 8x 128 Mb Graphics card. So this is my last question, Anyone know of a kick-A motherboard like this that's price isn't out of range?
