I'm still not to sure on a tower to use but I would to find one with two fans already in it, I'm still not sure about the cd-rom storage devices and floppy device.

My problem is plain and simple I have recently switched from regular cable by mediacom to Hi-Speed cable by mediacom. The problem is my Hi-speed internet is not hi-speed its still regular cable and the download speeds are only 4.6 kp/s in which im paying $57.50. I'm running on Windows XP, Dell Dimension 2350 Intel Pentium 4. When ever I go to Control Panel - system - hardware - Device Manager, under other devices there is a yellow exclamation mark over my ethernet controller, my usb under network is working fine, I have checked and re-checked and all my cords are plugged in fine, then i attempted to re-install the ethernet cord and it would not install with any of the software i got from the company (one labled usb driver, the other fast track to hi-speed internet). Then under show all connections the only connection is labled Lan or High-Speed Internet, so if you have any ideas that would be most helpful. If you need more information just say so

Here's what I figured out i had to do without the help of mediacom! I had to first unistall everything then reinstall it the etherenet still didnt work so i figured well thats not the problem so i put in the mediacom to hi-speed internet software and then i had to eneter my acount key and registration number, register my e-mail address through mchsi.com then, i had to reset my hub then restart wait one day and boom hi-speed.
-
Ok im going to to some of my own tests but i've been saying i probably should just remind them to activate my hi-speed, and if they say it is i will explain to them what it is and i don't think i have thanked you and Sampson properly for helping me with that e-mail problem that fixed so many things so thank you guys for all the help
-
Relic as to your earlier post saying i should unistall the ethernet and reinstall should i unistall the usb driver that my internet is currently running on then unistall the ethernet and reinstall it? If that makes since...
-
Relic, I know but im really short on cash right now for I myself have to pay it by doing chores around the house hence im not 18 I still live with my parents im just the one who likes computers, but my hub, has an ethernte slot on but, the ethernet won't install properly, my hi-speed internet is the same as normal cable. Man I really wish i knew how to explain it i guess im just going to have to call mediacom and talk to someone from their and see they have properly activated hi-speed
-
well I think that might be why the ethernet cord isn't installing properly because the usb cord is still in the computer and installed my ethernet cord is plugged into the computer but under device manager it has a yellow exclamation mark which im assuming means its not installed, to your second post what does that mean? Does it mean that i need to call mediacom to make sure that they have activated my hi-speed (when i say hi-speed i'm meaning broadband) or does it mean my test results are slow as crap
-
Well my download speed is 19kb/s and my upload is 23kb/s I think your confused on how im setting up my internet it goes like this cable - router - usb - cpu - eternet -cpu so to run hi-speed can i do off of a usb or do i need to unitstall the usb and remove it from my router then try installing the ethernet? Or should i simply contact mediacom and get them to try something which i would hate becasue they take forever and i can't stand the way they talk
-
Well one option is to find your current memory stick ( if thats what your wanting ) is to go to bios, to do that shutdown your pc and turn it back on then the key they tell you see when it says your system name which is one of the following (f2 f12 or delte) once there you should see you system's memory thats one way or you could go to start run type in msinfo32 then hardware resources memory and that should show lots of things but assuming that you haven't upgraded to anything you should see something that says intell or some other name storage device if you cant locate it then on the bottom search for "memory" without quotations, if you're seeing whats compatible with your computer just go to kingston.com if you want kingston memory which i would recommend then type in your system model and boom.

I cannot access my e-mail through aol.com or yahoo.com or pretty much anywhere else I have tried many ways to try to get it to work but none so far have worked i used to have regular dial-up then switched to regular cable now i switched again to high-speed cable ( which isn't working which is why i need e-mail for one). I have mediacom and whenever i try to log on it says bad url to retrieve the page press retrieve and then the same page comes up again, so if you have any idea please tell me.
-
ok well my e-mail problem is resolved i dont know what happend i just restarted my computer in safemode then rebooted regulary and for some reason it decide to let me access my e-mail but i still get that error on most e-mail pages oh well thanks all i have a new networking problem on my computer so you will see it soon
-
OK i will try that and then get back to you
-
Yeah I thought i needed more information, ok i m using internet explorer, it only happens when im trying to communicate information over e-mail related sites, and I'm using www.aol.com and whenever i click read my mail (www.webmail.aol.com) that error page comes up say check your spelling or click retrieve page from the archives, and its the same with my yahoo e-mail whenever it try to log on it says the same thing; the page for aol that comes up is http://badurl.ieplugin.com/url.cgi?url=http://www.webmail.aol.com/ and no i don't use outlook express i go to the actually website www.aol.com.

What video cards (PCI) would you recommend for a Dell Dimension 2350 with a price range up to $200, and does the ATI Radeon 9250 series work with my Dell Dimension 2350, I am basicly trying to rebuild this compter because it is the basic core computer you get for 300$ so if you have any suggestions for the video card (PCI) it would be most helpfull.
-
ok thanks i'll do that
-
I am unsure whether this ati radeon 9250 PCI is compatible with my dell dimension 2350 and if is compatible then im having some time trying to get it working because i can't remove the intel 82845G Graphics controller. So if anyone has any clue on what to do to install this card or if i have to switch to some other card please post.
-
ok im trying to install a new video card called the geforce mx 4000 by NVIDIA, i unistalled the old video card a radeon 7000, and then i put in the geforce mx 4000 well, when ever i did this how many times i tried my computer ( Systemax tiger windows xp intel pentium 4 ) would restart as soon as i logged on my user name. Is there something im doing wrong or bypassing, or do i need to get a different card for the my computer. Oh yeah and the reason im getting a new card is so i can get on the new everquest games which requires pixel shade support 4 and various other things along with the basics please if you are so kind to help me.
-
ok thank you, well all i really need is anything with pixel shader support so i think it should be good but whatever
