I was wandering if anyone knew a way around buying the retail version of windows vista 64 bit edition if i have already purchased the 32 bit oem edition? I've tried upgrading it to the 64 bit but, the microsoft support line says it has to be retail. So I'm thinking if they're not going to be fair about ima have to get sneaky! So any suggestions i'd greatly appreciate.

a zune if counts a computer part (more accesory) -
first thing you should try would to update your drivers, then plug in the s-video cord to your laptop then to your TV restart the laptop and it should work

Has anyone gotten windows vista ultimate, if so then is it worth the extra money? Even if you don't have windows vista ultimate yet I'd still like your opinion

I have a Netgear Router, wgr_614, I have had it for about 6 months now. I've been running on highly slow internet for the majority of that time. Download speeds are good and everything, but it takes forever to load a webpage. So I googled my router and common problems and sure enough they all said it had to do with the SPI firewall, so how do i disable it? And a side note if anyone knows how to change your vlan settings for internet teeming do post too.

My problem is this I have installed on my computer the 'usb cable 351000' which gives you an option of either, usb or ethernet, I wish to use ethernet. The problem with that is when I plug in my RJ-45 to my NIC and hub it just turns on the little enet led light, and it says im still connected via usb. So what I did was unistall the usb, power washed it, and restarted the computer, still nothing so then I plugged back in my usb and its online only through the usb any help get the ethernet to work? I have one other hub/router called 'Arris touchstone telephony modem' which if need be it I can use. The reason for me needing to switch to ethernet is because I'd like to use my wireless router.

Allright I guess I probably shouldn't have made this post considering I found out the cause of the problem myself :]. It was a simple matter of loading the Resource CD and clicking some buttons, then restarting, now everything works except I'm still connected through one connection, which is the ethernet, so other then it's not 1394 im happy.
-
Well I've concluded thats its due to the fact for some reason its not running on the IEEE 1394 (not sure on numbers/letters), but normally on a windows conncection when you connect through a hub you have two connections one the 1394 and the other the hub is this correct? So if that is how would I go about fixing this.

Well first off, I want you guys to know I'm not just too lazy to look this up on the interent/forum so I did that and this is what I found... http://www.ntcompatible.com/Reformatting_hard_drive_t30788.html What I got from that was this is how you reformat your Hard Drive: 1. Get a copy of Windows XP 2. Change the boot options in the BIOS to 1st CD-Rom, 2nd Hard Drive 3. Insert the CD and restart the computer 4. Once the CD starts up Follow the instructions it says Is this Correct? What is partitioning; Will it say what I need to press to Re-Format the Hard Drive?
-
ok thats good thank you, oh by the way everything went along fine with the re-format except strangley the mobo reset back to the default settings but, i got them back to normal
-
a last side note is it legal or not to; if you have already had bought windows xp you just lost the CD, to use your friends copy of windows xp to reformat it on your system?

I am rebuilding a computer so that it can maximize download speeds, I was wandering whether or not two NICs running at the same time makes a difference, and how you would set that connection type up, the only other connection that might be running on this is a wireless laptop which would be connected to my wireless.

Allright I understand all of the above except 2 and 6. Could you please explain more?

This is sorta a personal pole question, What do you think of buying hardware from E-bay? yes/no, is it worth the risk? yes/no and any other thoughts because i'm having a difficult time buying my parts fromt the over-prised local stores
-
haha, allright thank you

Well that helps alot (Froogle) i never what have thought of using that, but even some of those results seem offly under the norm price, for example, the intel core duo E6400 is regularly priced at $220 but http://www.order-point.co.uk/Inu_products/INU_ProdDetailsL1.asp?ref=27304493 has for only $160, so when using froogle should i just use my better judgement and not even consider such price reasonable?

I was just wandering if anyone knew any decent websites with any information on CPU's in general like the basics, the intermediate, and the expert. By information I mean like what makes a proccessor good, i.e. single vs. duel core.
-
yeah i've checked there already its just that i can't find any information on what makes a CPU work. I mean do they have a guide like they did on video cards or what cause i've tried looking ... if you don't know it off the bat don't worry about it that would just be me mooching off of you :-]

So I got a new computer from my church pastor, he said it was from honduras so it had a bunch of fans in it windows xp standard ram of 256, raedon family card agp, and amd antholon proccessor overclocked to almost 1.48. So I pick it up take it home plug it in and start her up, well right away I noticed something wasn't right because of the press 10 seconds to cancel screen was a smaller font and said something a little different, so I'm like whatever adn i go to the startup screen and its in nt mode so I switch to xp mode and its missing explorer and all the standard apps that come with windows xp sp2. Also I cannot delete crap period, the compute has about 4 gig left after i delete everything possible but 6 windows things which say they can't be deleted, so my question is A. Is there anyway I can free up Space on it? B. Is it possible to remove the bootlegged version of windows xp ... and if there is how?
