    Wow, my problem was EXACTLY as described by the starting post. I booted into single user mode as recommended, logged in as root, and typed in grub, and then unhide (hd0,0) and hit enter, typed in quit, and exit, and restarted and BAM! IT WORKS! Thanks MUPPET!
