I have tried everything, on this forum to my knowledge, but I still get the error please insert disk 1 into drive, make sure u have the correct disk. Disk is ok as it works on another computer,it also loaded ok onto my computer with all other 3 disks. Its when u insert the disk to start playing the game it reads the cd 1 and the sims 2 window pops up and just before it goes to the big black screen with MAXIS I get the ERROR message. CD rom spins around like crazy trying to do its job,but something in my pc is not allowing it too, Could it be gremlins? Could it be something to do with graphics card ? Like i said , i have cheched and double checked all information provided by this forum, please anybody have any ideas. cheers. My system info will be posted on the next post.

Hello there forum members, I have a Gygabyte K7 triton board.every time I go to install my second cd rom windows wont start up it freezes, not sure if its the IDE connection or windows. One cd rom at a time is ok , picks them both up ,but when I connect both together , pc windows wont start up, freezes on start up. board has 4 IDE connectors, should I try a seperatle IDE for each cd rom or shuld I I use IDE number 3 for both cd roms rather than IDE 2 like at present, as IDE 1 is being used by the hard drive,, as recommended by the manufacturer. cheers

thanks guy's, problem fixed. My mate had changed the jumper on cd rom, and had both dvd and cd on master.

The cdrom's I have tried in both directions as in the cd rom master then dv rom slave and have reversed them and still windows xp freezes on start up when its about to switch to the main screen. I have tried them both on there own and they are fine,I have also tried seperating them to IDE 2 secondary and the other to IDE 3 primary and still nothing, not forgeting to mention that the manufacturer recommends the IDE 1 primary is for the hard drive. socket A motherboard-GA 7N400 pro2 Also add that on Bios start up before windows xp kicks in, there are no cd rom or dvd rom detected in IDE preview. cheers

What I have found since posting my thread,is that it could well be something to do with my cd rom set up. I burned some mpeg's to a cd using nero to convert them to video cd and they can be played on windows media player and also I can access the files using incd4,but when I burned the same mpegs to cd using incd4 copy and paste, they stay as mpeg's doing it that way. they can not be read by the cd rom and actually show nothing in the cd's file, EMPTY.. By the way I need to clear up the fact that I have been burning these mpegs with another pc in the house. On another thread on this forum I also posted a problem with Gigabyte board not detecting IDE on start up text or BIOS what ever u call it,but also wont eccept cd and dvd roms to be plugged in at the same time, windows XP wont start up it freezes when its about to open up on main page with both roms hooked up in the same IDE cable or indavidually. Problem is probably a simple one , if u have experienced this before, but for those of us that havent,it's a night mare.. cheers
