Chaos Overlords - Can't find CD

I recently acquired this old Win95-game. Installation went fine with the compability mode, but whenever I try to run the game it complains that it can't find the CD, compability mode or no. I'm running a Win XP Pro (SP2).

    American McGee's Alice

My pleasure. Just remember that Starforce has a nasty habit of reinstalling itself, so you may have to run the removal tool again after playing the Starforce-protected game.
  4. I'm having some weird graphical problems with AVPG. The menus work fine after renaming the avp.exe, but in the game itself everything except the HUD is pitch black and if I move the mouse around the HUD becomes blurred. The gamma settings are fine and changing the video mode didn't do me any good. Reinstalling, patching and compablity modes didn't help either. It's worth noting that the game never actually crashes. I'm running a Windows XP Pro (SP2) with GeForce 7800GT (82.12).

    American McGee's Alice

I used to have the same problem with Alice and a couple of other games. Removing Starforce from my system helped and now everything works fine. So if you own any Starforce-protected games you should try the Starforce removal tool (the only way to get rid of the bugger), which you can get here: http://www.glop.org/starforce/remove.php
