I have problems when downloading the latest version of direct X. it runs thriugh the setup and says this may take a few moments, but it takes at least a second, then i try a game which requires direct X and its still not found. Can anybody help me?????

i have a problem with direct X when trying to run my sims 2 it says: This application has failed to start because D3D9.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. i have re-installed but still have the same problem. any 1 help?
