I recently switched from a workgroup to a domain environment. All users are unable to save to their local hard drive. As soon as you pull up the save as dialog, the application hangs. This happens with any program (Word, Notepad, Excel, etc etc). If I add the user to the Domain Admin group or Administrators group on the domain, I'm able to save the document just fine. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Obviously we don't want to have all of our users as Administrator. These are all Windows XP workstations with Windows Server 2003 DC. Thank you.

In the future consider using a 3rd party encryption program. If possible. www.truecrypt.org is pretty good

I have a client who wants to setup Terminal Server 2008 to remotely host all users desktops. He has about 11 employees. What he wants is all users to login directly to the terminal server and use its desktop without the option of accessing their local desktop. Do you guys have any feedback on this topic? What's the easiest way of going about this? I already suggested that he use the new RemoteApp feature, but he's uninterested. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have a site-to-site VPN setup at my office. The site-to-site is IPCOP(192.168.1.0) --> SonicWall 330(192.168.0.0). When I VPN to our RRAS from home, I am unable to ping any of the systems on the Sonicwall side(192.168.0.0). I can ping all systems on the IPCOP side (192.168.1.0). If I then remote desktop to a system on the IPCOP side, I can then ping any system including the SonicWall side. Any ideas? I want to be able to just VPN to my office and have full access to all systems. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Nevermind. I discovered that the home network that I'm on is sharing the 192.168.0.0 network address. The solution is to either change the home network address to something else (192.168.3.0) or modify the route table. Set the metric for your home network to 100. That way when you connect to VPN it will use that connection.

Hey all, I am looking to create a script to run a full weekly NTBACKUP on several systems in my domain. Do you guys know of an easy way to do this? Backupexec and other backup solutions are not an option. Please let me know! Much appreciated.
