  3. Hi all, We have just published the worklog for Coolmiester's *Cosmos Skulltrail* case modification. If you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2008/08/11/skulltrail-by-coolmiester/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/08/skulltrail-by-coolmiester/fn04s.jpg *Quote: */Project: Skulltrail was conceived "way back" in March of 2008 at CeBit, where Cooler Master first asked if I'd mod its new flagship case - the Cosmos S. At the same time, the company was curious as to whether I could get more performance from its new Aquagate Max drive bay inserts. So, given my mission, I came away from CeBit knowing that I would need to come up with something a bit special. Not only would it need to be good in the looks department (without robbing the CM Cosmos-S of its unique looks), but also performance. After a second, I thought, "What better than a new Skulltrail system to prove the capability of the heavily modded Aquagate?" From that point forward, the project snowballed thanks to some major sponsors getting involved including Intel, Zotac, and HWLabs. Once the hardware was finalised, it soon became apparent that it would need to be a dual loop system with the two Core 2 Extreme QX9775s and the northbridge on one loop, and the two Zotac GeForce 9800 GX2s and the RAM in the other (no southbridge watercooling as the GX2s completely obstruct access) so I set about modding two Aquagates.// / * *Cheers guys! 4. Hi all, We have just published an interview with *Bethesda's Pete Hines* to discuss *Fallout 3*. If you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/08/09/fallout-3-interview-pete-hines/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/08/fallout-3-interview-pete-hines/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */*BT:* So, why did you choose the Xbox 360 as a lead platform? The series has traditionally been on PC. *Pete:* Well, for us, //Oblivion was multi-platform. The Xbox 360 has been out long enough and we have more experience with it than with the PlayStation 3. Whenever you pick a platform it's always better to go with one that is fixed. The PC is not fixed. When we talk about having a par level of performance across all three platforms, it is nigh impossible to define that for a PC user. I have no idea what GPU, RAM, CPU or soundcard you have. Or even which OS you are running. So, saying that the PC is a lead platform -- well, what does that mean in terms of how much RAM we have to use? On the Xbox 360 though, all of that is very well defined. It also ends up making it great for PC because those constraints define the boundaries of the PC version. If you have a better PC than an Xbox 360 then you can scale up and do better -- but it's much, much more difficult to go the other way./ * *Cheers guys! Tim Smalley www.bit-tech.net

  7. GeForce GTX 260/280 versus Radeon HD 4850/4870 http://www.techspot.com/review/109-geforce-gtx-260-280-versus-radeon-4850-4870/ Gamers looking to purchase a new generation graphics card today have quite a few options available ranging in price from $180 to $450. Indeed, it's a great time to upgrade. Our preliminary testing shows that the GeForce GTX 280 is the most powerful graphics card money can buy you right now, but exactly how much more powerful is it than the Radeon HD 4870? Then there is the Radeon HD 4850 which is our value card of choice. And while we know it can beat the GeForce 9800 GTX hands down, how much slower is it than the GeForce GTX 260 exactly? Today we hope to answer these questions for you by comparing these four new graphics cards in a head to head battle.

Biostar TPower I45 Intel P45 Express Motherboard Review QUOTE: "I love to know what magic its engineers infused into the Biostar TPower I45 motherboard to make it an overclocking monster, but reaching +600MHz FSB with this board is a real possibility! On first glance the Biostar TPower I45 motherboard has the appearence of a standard mid-range enthusiast friendly platform, but it's not until you start overclocking that it's true potential becomes apparent (as we'll see later in the review). MSI R4850 Review @ OCC

A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the MSI R4850 Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "The MSI R4850...what is there to say about this video card - except that it rocked! The MSI R4850 was not only able to overclock higher than the Sapphire HD4850 that I recently tested, but the MSI card was also able to stay cooler under a full load than the Sapphire by about 20°C! I was very surprised when I saw that this card was competitively priced with the other HD4850 cards that have the stock cooling solution, which adds an extra value to the card. The performance of the R4850 surpassed the Sapphire HD4850 - not by much - however, in the benchmark world, every point makes a difference and adds even more value to the card." 13. Hello, OCIA.net has posted their Performance System Building Guide. Below is a direct quote from the guide: "In the past we've always spec'd a high-end air cooler for our Performance build, however we've seen a few really good yet inexpensive liquid cooling kits come out recently. Among these was the Swiftech H20-220 Compact that we reviewed several months ago. Coming from a brand like Swiftech you know it's going to be high quality and the performance is really good, even for a pre-assembled kit. If you don't have room for a double-sized radiator in your case, the Swiftech Compact series is also available in a single H20-120 model." 14. ATI RADEON 3870 X2 vs RADEON HD 4850 vs. RADEON HD 4870 here is a short snippet: Back to what we were looking at in this article. My favorite card in the entire roundup is the VisionTek HD 4850 or any other flavor of the same card, regardless of manufacturer. GDDR5 or not -- in a card commanding a street price as low as $170, I can live with DDR3 and maybe I have to scale back my resolution just a bit. On the other hand, the 4850 provides true high-end visual computing for the masses at a price that only a year ago would buy only an upper midrange card. Maybe that is what the 4850 is, though, but then the upper midrange has become incredibly attractive. http://www.lostcircuits.com/video/ati-roundup/ AMD's Radeon Lineup (LostCircuits) Thanks for any news coverage, Best Regards, Michael -- Michael Schuette, ms ( -at -) lostcircuits.com on 8/10/2008

  17. HiLo Media Creates A Unique High-Def Tutorial Video for Kinemac Software - Published on 08/10/08 A recent creative international collaboration between HiLo Media and Kinemac developer yields a unique high-definition tutorial video to orient new users to the software. Web and viral video production company HiLo Media recently completed a high-definition 11-minute tutorial video for Mac OSX 3D Animation software Kinemac. Kinemac developer Lorenzo Puleo worked tightly with HiLo Media producer Joseph Nilo in the creation of the video. Asheville, NC - Web and viral video production company HiLo Media recently completed a high-definition 11-minute tutorial video for Mac OSX 3D Animation software Kinemac. Kinemac developer Lorenzo Puleo worked tightly with HiLo Media producer Joseph Nilo in the creation of the video. "It's great working with an independent developer on a video for their software. They take great pride in their product, and great interest in what we do, making our job much easier and very effective," said Nilo. "It was even Lorenzo's idea to put me in front of the camera for this video as a tutorial 'host' that helps move the video along." The style of the tutorial might be familiar to fans of Apple: "White background, black pullover," mused Nilo, "I hear some folks at Apple are now calling me iPhone Bob Junior." Transcontinental collaboration from the United States with the Paris-based software company was no issue. "The time difference worked in our favor," said Nilo, "I would work while Paris was sleeping, email off a script or a video proof, go to bed, and awake to have input and changes in my email box. We kept in contact during the overlapping hours via iChat." Nilo focused on a quick turnaround for the production of the video. Scriptwriting, high-definition videography, motion graphics, editing, proofing, and finalizing were all easily accomplished within two weeks. "Our team takes pride in producing high-quality content quickly and affordably. Many companies have video on their sites these days, oftentimes created by themselves. We want our clients to have professionally-produced content with motion graphics, music, and voice over that puts their product in its best light." The finished video was posted at Kinemac's website. HiLo Media has also launched a viral video campaign, releasing the tutorial video as a podcast in iTunes and to 15 major viral video sites, such as YouTube, Revver, MetaCafe, Yahoo Video, and AOL Video. The tutorial video also resides in HiLo Media's online portfolio with other successful web video campaigns for companies like Philips USA, elgato, and digital lifestyle outfitters. HiLo Media creates high-quality, affordable web videos: Product Videos, Screencasts, Podcasts, Tutorials, Website Tours, Viral Video Campaigns. Then videos are delivered via the clients' websites and served to the masses via distribution to all the major viral video sites. HiLo Media: http://www.hilomedia.com Kinemac: http://www.kinemac.com Kinemac Tutorial Video: http://www.hilomedia.com/portfolio.html HiLo Media was formed in 2008 as a collaboration between two successful video production companies owned by Joseph Nilo and Charles Heilig (Heilig / Nilo = HiLo). Nilo and Heilig are pioneers in the new media / podcasting space, having creating one of the first video podcasts in 2005, a mac audio / video production-related program called the Mac Pro Podcast. Joseph Nilo has gone on to produce or collaborate in various successful Mac-related podcasts and produces non-tech content for corporate clients. ### Joseph Nilo President 828-490-4227 josephnilo ( -at -) gmail.com ******* ******* *******

  20. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Visual) - GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4850 Graphics Card QUOTE: "The HD 4850 is the card that has put AMD/ATI back on the graphics card map over the past month. While the HD 3850 and HD 3870 were both good cards, a constant line-up of NVIDIA cards along with price drops meant that the aging technology was having trouble keeping up with cards not only in a similar price bracket, but cheaper again. The latest HD 4850 to come into the labs is from GIGABYTE and before we get stuck into the performance side of things, we will have a look at the package and what’s inside as well as the card itself. So, let’s not ramble on anymore and just get stuck into it."
