  5. Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Graphics Card Review. Quote - "We first covered the launch of the new NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ on June 20, 2008. Launched right after the GT 200 series of graphics cards, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ is die-shrinked version of the venerable NVIDIA G92 GPU, used in cards like the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB and the GeForce 8800 GT. Thanks to the die-shrink from 65 nm to 55 nm, NVIDIA was able to further boost the core and shader clock speeds of the GPU by 9.3%. Everything else was unchanged, including the memory clock which remained at 1.1 GHz. Hence, NVIDIA called it the GeForce 9800 GTX+ (Plus), instead of the GeForce 9900 GTX." 7. Hi, It's Kristofer from DragonSteelMods, and I have a new review today that I think your readers might find interesting. Title: Tritton AX Micro TRI-BH200 Bluetooth Headset Review ( -at -) DragonSteelMods Review Link: http://www.dragonsteelmods.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=8850&Itemid=1 Review Snipit: "Today for review I've got the AX Micro Bluetooth Headset from Tritton, and it's a very interesting headset, unlike any I've ever seen. The majority of BT Headsets out there today have a rubber loop that goes over your ear, I personally do not care for these types as I've found they can be uncomfortable for long periods of use, but the Tritton AX Micro uses no such system to secure the headset to your ear, it actually goes in your ear and has rubber 'fingers' that push against the inside of your outer ear to hold the AX Micro in place. At first I was skeptical of this system but in my time with the AX Micro I've found it works very well and it is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The battery life is very good as is the overall sound quality... 10. Today Mark looks at the Thermaltake NBCool T500 Notebook Cooler. SNIP: Laptops have become compact enough to tote along just about anywhere you go. Along with that compact size comes all the heat of modern processors, and the Mobile models generally run hotter than their Desktop counterparts. This heat still needs to be removed, or it'll build up and cause a thermal shut down and damage that expensive equipment. Although the heat is removed fairly efficiently on some laptops, it is commonly diverted towards your lap, which can get pretty uncomfortable. To prolong the life of your laptop and keep your portable computing experience a comfortable one, you might need to look at a laptop or notebook cooler like the Thermaltake NBcool T500. Things were getting pretty warm in some spots around the Bjorn3D lab, and when Thermaltake contacted us about testing the NBcool T500 notebook cooler, we were glad to give our well-used laptop a break from the excess heat generated while churning out reviews. Heck, our laps could use a break too. So: laptop getting hot in the wrong spot? Check out the Thermaltake NBcool T500 and see if it'll cool you off. http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1313 A post on your site would be great if you can. Thank you, Scott -----------------------------------------
  11. Visiontek Radeon HD 4870 review http://www.techspot.com/review/108-visiontek-radeon-4870/ Just a month ago we reviewed the Radeon HD 4850, the value offering in the new ATI line-up, and in short we absolutely loved it. Since then Nvidia has reconfigured their pricing scheme so that you can pick up either a GeForce 9800 GTX or Radeon HD 4850 for just $200 (the 9800 GTX was previously $300+). However, if you can spend a little more, AMD also has the Radeon HD 4870 on offer, boasting improved performance on a single GPU for about $285. Competing in the same price range are the Radeon HD 3870 X2 and the GeForce GTX 260 graphics cards, while the GeForce 9800 GX2 and GeForce GTX 280 cost considerably more. Today we will be taking the Visiontek Radeon HD 4870 card for a spin, comparing it to all of these high-end graphics cards to see how it stacks up both in terms of value and performance.

  15. *Title:* ECS P45T-A Motherboard Review ( -at -) HardwareLogic * Quote:* "Since 1987, Elitegroup Computer Systems has been providing motherboards to the masses and now stands as the fourth largest manufacturer in the world. I will be taking a look at ECS' latest creation, the P45T-A, based on Intel's fantastic P45 Express chipset. The motherboard arrived at HardwareLogic's West Coast Lab and immediately demanded attention with its 1333 FSB, CrossFire support, eSATA, 8 channel audio and 16GB of DDR2 capacity. And since its from ECS, you know its affordable. Take a few minutes to check out this review as I throw the P45T-A motherboard on to my test bench for some serious benchmarking. How did it do? There's only one way to find out." * Link:* http://www.hardwarelogic.com/news/132/ARTICLE/4135/2008-08-07.html

  19. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Visual) - MSI GeForce GTX 280 OC Graphics Card QUOTE: "While the GTX 280 might be the most powerful single cored graphics card on the market at the moment, it didn’t seem to be greeted with welcomed arms. A high price tag and small to no gains over its older dual GPU brother, the 9800 GX2 meant that people didn’t get all that excited about it. Today we’re going to take the time to see what MSI have done to the card. We know they’ve decided to overclock the card, but we wonder if they’ve done anything else with it to let it stand out from the pack. While we haven’t fallen head over heels for the GTX 280, there’s no denying that it’s a very fast single core card and it’s difficult not to be impressed by the performance the single GPU puts out." 21. A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the Scythe Ninja 2 Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "What is there to say about the Scythe Ninja 2 besides the fact that it not only looks good but can perform quite well! I was quite surprised when it came down to the testing, that the Scythe Ninja 2 CPU cooler was only beaten by the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. Scythe has done something quite well with the release of the Ninja 2, as it not only performs well, but it also runs at relatively silent. I was unable to hear the supplied 120mm fan over the my HD4850 stock cooling or over the other fans installed inside of the case. I was still disappointed to see that Scythe did not include a PWM feature with the fan. Since the fan is already quiet, slowing it down isn't really necessary, but a PWM feature would be nice to have as an alert if your CPU fan stops." 22. Hello! I have a review to post: BFG ES Series ES-800 800 Watt Power Supply "This power supply would be perfect for anyone looking to build a quad core system with multiple video cards, especially because it offers SLi certification for up to two NVIDIA 8800 GTX's. At around $170, this power supply has great performance combined with high quality parts; with the lifetime warranty and 24/7 technical support, it is hard to find another power supply that offers the same peace of mind and performance." Link: http://www.techaddicts.net/reviews/bfg_es800/bfg_es800.html It is greatly appreciated if this review is posted as a news item. Thanks!

This was due to an incomplete fix for CVE-2007-4965. David Remahl of Apple Product Security reported several integer overflows in a number of core modules (CVE-2008-2315). Justin Ferguson reported multiple buffer overflows in unicode string processing that affected 32bit systems (CVE-2008-3142). Multiple integer overflows were reported by the Google Security Team that had been fixed in Python 2.5.2 (CVE-2008-3143). Justin Ferguson reported a number of integer overflows and underflows in the PyOS_vsnprintf() function, as well as an off-by-one error when passing zero-length strings, that led to memory corruption (CVE-2008-3144). The updated packages have been patched to correct these issues. As well, Python packages on Corporate Server 4 have been updated to the latest version 2.4.5. _______________________________________________________________________ References: http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-1679 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-2315 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-3142 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-3143 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-3144 _______________________________________________________________________ Updated Packages: Corporate 4.0: 900137924c889fa7d005ab3d895243c8 corporate/4.0/i586/libpython2.4-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.i586.rpm 7c3de61878f0c0bac533f9a51c0dea81 corporate/4.0/i586/libpython2.4-devel-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.i586.rpm 490ccd940ea503dca0a761d9bfacc5da corporate/4.0/i586/python-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.i586.rpm a4617bf6d939be01e0f114c1906ea66c corporate/4.0/i586/python-base-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.i586.rpm 8445ef65b15c5dea104e05f9090664e1 corporate/4.0/i586/python-docs-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.i586.rpm c1d2948b33c23fe810e462b92667901b corporate/4.0/i586/tkinter-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.i586.rpm f0043982cc31ea43c0957b8eaf72cddf corporate/4.0/SRPMS/python-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.src.rpm Corporate 4.0/X86_64: 540b5dbd4692ba0d2a9e3b17785f8ea2 corporate/4.0/x86_64/lib64python2.4-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.x86_64.rpm 551b23b1225cd32f7e41c118c3ee4faa corporate/4.0/x86_64/lib64python2.4-devel-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.x86_64.rpm 1f03aadf3fb3319212969c95e6a12fce corporate/4.0/x86_64/python-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.x86_64.rpm 143ee3746b47d8a2eaeab35f828885fb corporate/4.0/x86_64/python-base-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.x86_64.rpm ce41c796e4fa6d40fe9f987a46613f24 corporate/4.0/x86_64/python-docs-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.x86_64.rpm a77cc847126150d324f4c6f594f3bfbe corporate/4.0/x86_64/tkinter-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.x86_64.rpm f0043982cc31ea43c0957b8eaf72cddf corporate/4.0/SRPMS/python-2.4.5-0.1.20060mlcs4.src.rpm _______________________________________________________________________ To upgrade automatically use MandrivaUpdate or urpmi. 25. Hardware Canucks is pleased to present our ATI HD4870 & HD4850 Crossfire Performance Review where we test these two cards in both dual and MIXED Crossfire configurations. *Article URL:* http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/9159-ati-hd4870-hd4850-crossfire-performance-review.html *Quote:* *Up until this point we have somewhat shunned full-on dual card reviews but with the current popularity of Crossfire and ATI's current crop of sub-$300 graphics cards, it is high time we tackled this subject. In this performance review we will be taking a look at Crossfire configurations with HD4870 cards from Palit, HD4850 cards from Sapphire and a few little interesting twists (Mixed Crossfire) and turns (Crossfire by combining 4800-series and 3800-series cards) along the way.* *Image URL: * http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/image/skymtl/GPU/CROSSFIRE/CROSSFIRE-7.JPG We would appreciate it if you would post this in your News section.
