This is a notice that the official Fedora Privacy Policy has been updated. A brief notice can also be found on the main website (http://fedoraproject.org). Previously, Fedora was using the generic Red Hat Privacy Policy, which did not make sense for a number of reasons. Fedora now has its own Privacy Policy at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Legal/PrivacyPolicy I would encourage everyone to read the new Privacy Policy. This policy went through a public review process on the fedora-advisory-board

Exclusive Review of Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H AMD 790GX+SB750 mainboard

PC Review have a new review of the Supermicro X7DWA-N, a high end motherboard that allows you to use 2 x Quad Core CPUs and up to 64GB of RAM: "I had the opportunity to spend some time testing and evaluating this motherboard with two sets of CPUs and two types of memory. First using two X5482 Harpertowns (3200/12mb/1600) and 4x2 gig of Transcend DDR2-800 FB-Dimms, and later on using two E5450 Harpertowns(3000/12mb/1333). This EATX board is built using the newest 5400 Seaburg chipset with 1600FSB support built in. The layout is a typical EATX 12x13†design and like previous versions uses 24, 8 and 4 pin connections to the motherboard. With this new series, a 4 pin Molex connector is added to the board for users with higher power needs. There are 8 Dimm slots for quad channel memory support (up to and including DDR2-800 FB-Dimms) for a maximum of 64 gigs. The board comes boxed with 6 SATA cables, I/O shield, IDE cable, and an excellent manual and Cd with all needed software and drivers." Apple News Site Challlenges Steve Jobs to China Factory Visit - Published on 08/05/08 Ryan Ritchey, the producer of The Digital Lifestyle, today posted a blog entry challenging Apple CEO Steve Jobs to an iPhone factory visit in China. Philadelphia, PA - Ryan Ritchey, the producer of The Digital Lifestyle, today posted a blog entry challenging Apple CEO Steve Jobs to an iPhone factory visit in China. In 2006, Apple investigated wrongdoing at a Foxconn location due to press reports of inhumane conditions. Apple's own report found overtime violations and some questionable living quarters. Ritchey said he is bringing up the factory visit now because of reports of increased iPhone production, beyond full capacity at Foxconn. "If there ever was a time that a precariously close to inhumane work environment could go over the edge, this new production ramp would be it," Ritchey said. The blog points out that its not so much that human rights abuses are suspected, so much as there's a cloud of ambiguity hanging over the production facilities. "Go to China, Steve. Look firsthand at just how Apple products are manufactured. We'll happily go along, and vow to never raise the subject again if everything checks out," Ritchey said. Hello, We've just posted our latest review and would love it if you linked it. TIA! "Zotac's GeForce 9800 GTX AMP! Edition is the graphics card to get if you're looking for an excellent value single-card offering, with the ability to upgrade to SLI later-on. An overclocked 9800 GTX definitely makes it a lot more attractive than the stock speed version, and unlike other companies which only overclock the core, Zotac has done a complete overhaul by overclocking the core, shaders and the memory, resulting in the GeForce 9800 GTX AMP! Edition performing about 8- to 10% faster than a regular GeForce 9800 GTX. The only thing missing in the package is an SLI bridge. And to be picky we'd have liked a better game. But pound for pound, this card packs great performance, even if it's still not a huge improvement on the 8800 GTX. And it's even cheaper than PNY's GeForce 9800GTX OC XLR8" http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=783 _____ Christian Harris Editor/Publisher BIOS (http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk) _____

Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted On The Road With The Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III. Quote - The Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III is one of those special cameras with a special niche. Designed for the professional in mind (those with some USD$9,000 in their bank accounts or lying around the house <http://forums.techarp.com/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif> ), it packs a shit load of features that most photographers do not even want to use. For example, an armoured body the size of most people's heads and weather seals all around. The EOS-1Ds Mark III uses a full-frame 21 megapixel CMOS sensor. Now, that's a lot of pixels even in a large 35 mm sensor. With such a high pixel density, how well does it hold up in the noise department when compared to my old Canon EOS-5D? Let's take a look. Digital Heaven launches VideoSpace Online with iPhone version - Published on 08/05/08 Digital Heaven today announced the launch of VideoSpace Online, a useful disk space calculator website for Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro editors. VideoSpace's easy to use interface has made it the industry standard disk space calculator. In addition to a regular version for desktop web browsers, there is also a dedicated version for iPhone and iPod Touch. London, UK - Digital Heaven, one of the leading third party developers for Apple Pro Apps, today announced the launch of VideoSpace Online, an online version of their popular disk space calculator widget for Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro editors. Since its launch as a dashboard widget in 2005, VideoSpace's easy to use interface has made it the industry standard disk space calculator. By selecting a codec and frame rate then entering the desired duration, VideoSpace calculates how much disk space would be required. It is also possible to calculate in the other direction - by entering the available disk space, VideoSpace will display the corresponding footage duration for the current settings. "Estimating how much space is required for a given duration and codec is something that many video editors need to do on a regular basis. Our VideoSpace widget has been proved to be a big hit with editors and we're very excited to make disk space calculations available from any computer with an internet connection including iPhone and iPod Touch." - Martin Baker, Managing Director, Digital Heaven. VideoSpace supports NTSC, PAL and HD formats and a wide variety of codecs including DV, DVCPRO50, DVCPROHD, HDV, XDCAM HD, ProRes 422 and Uncompressed. The desktop browser version also features comprehensive options for number of audio tracks with sample rate and bit depth settings. VideoSpace Online: http://www.videospaceonline.com Screenshots and Press Images: http://www.digital-heaven.co.uk/press Digital Heaven was founded in 2000 by ex-BBC Resources video editor Martin Baker. For six years the company provided broadcast post production facilities for clients such as the BBC, Channel Four and many independent production companies. After the success of their first software products, the company shifted its focus in 2005 to exclusively concentrate on software development. In total, 14 Final Cut Plug-ins and four other applications have been added to the product range. VideoSpace, a free widget for Mac OS X Tiger which calculates the disk space required for a given duration and codec setting was released in October 2005. Clocking up over 10,000 downloads in the first month of release, VideoSpace was featured as a Macworld 'Widget of the Week' and as a staff favourite on Apple's widget download page. ### Martin Baker Managing Director +44 7973 303370 martin ( -at -) digital-heaven.co.uk ******* ******* *******

Thermaltake MaxOrb Heatsink Review "The Thermaltake MaxOrb heatsink is a novel design based around a half-dozen heatpipes and six individual arcs of cooling fins. I have to wonder if its design was born out of a desire not to infringe on existing patents, rather than sheer innovation... but in any event, the approach here guarantees an even fin pitch across the complete cooling surface area. In that respect the MaxOrb breaks new ground, allowing it to stand out from heatsinks of similar shape."
