  5. Today we are looking at the CS-Monolize case from Tagan. Everyone may know Tagan for their power supplies, now they expanding to the realm of enthusiast cases, and they went big. The Tagan Monolize features a pair of huge 250mm side blue LED Fan with control on the side door for some serious airflow! Quote: "Some may look at the cooling package of the Tagan CS-Monolize and think that it is not very elegant, but more along the lines of brute force. Well sometimes a hit with a big hammer is what gets the job done, and Tagan brought a really big hammer. They stuck two fans pushing 150 CFM each in a case that only takes up 2.4 cubic feet of space. So getting fresh air into the case is not an issue..." Article Title: Tagan Aplus CS Monolize Full Tower Case Review ( -at -) Legit Reviews Article URL: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/754/1/ --
  6. Today we look at the Sans Digital MobileSTOR MS2UTN+B. SNIP: The need for good and reliable storage is increasing as we record more and more of our lives digitally. Whether it is important private photos, our music collections, or even our DVD-collections that have been ripped to disks - we need ways to store these files safely. At one time, floppy-discs were large enough to store most of our important files, but we are at a point today where DVDs are not even large enough for most people to store all they want. This need for storage has let the external storage market exploding, and consumers now have a wide variety of storage to choose from; starting with simple, cheap flash-based USB sticks, up to expensive but feature-rich NAS-storage enclosures. Today we are reviewing an external enclosure that slots in between the simpler dumb enclosures and the smarter NAS-enclosures. The MobileSTOR MS2UTN+B from Sans Digital might not have all the bells and whistles that we find in a NAS (not everyone needs a bittorrent or uPNP media streaming) but it comes with a feature most people can use: the ability to set up various types of RAID-configurations with the touch of a button (or in this case, the twist of a screwdriver). http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1318 A post on your site would be great if you can. 7. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Trade Shows) - QuakeCon 2008 - Paint, Glue & Sponge Bob QUOTE: "QuakeCon is many things to many people. For the pro gamer it is a place to show your skills; challenging the best of the best and competing against the world’s top teams in everything from Guitar Hero to different variations of Quake. Gamers old and new travel to Dallas, Texas every year, trying to compete for their piece of the prize money. Computer enthusiasts who do not compete on the professional level also attend QuakeCon. Many are there to participate in LAN gaming in what is known as the BYOC, or Bring Your Own Computer. This area features some of the world’s top enthusiasts, some flying in from places like Sweden, Germany and even Asia. The computers they bring are often one off, custom enclosures that take up to several months to fabricate." 8. Enthusiasts have experienced a rash of motherboard chipset releases as of late, with no shortage of such releases coming from the Intel camp alone. The new introductions have ranged from the X38, X48 and the P45. Compound that with the fact that both DDR2 and DDR3 flavors generally exist for each, and you have a large number of models making their way to the market. The P45 can be considered the spiritual successor to the P35, while playing host to a slew of new features. URL: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=595 Quote: "However, this board does not leave the hardcore enthusiast with a sour taste either. It has a plethora of tweaking options in the BIOS second to none. Its one of most advanced BIOS’s I have encountered in some time, in regards to the voltage and timing adjustments available to the end user. It achieved a very respectable FSB ceiling with the Q9550 Quad Core CPU, while using conservative voltage settings. " Thanks for a post! 9. *Title:* Antec Twelve Hundred Case Review ( -at -) HardwareLogic * Quote:* "With the firestorm of success that was and still is the Antec Nine Hundred, how could Antec possibly expand on a design that has won countless awards and accolades? Easy! Introduce the Antec Twelve Hundred, the successor to the Nine Hundred, only in this iteration, take a proven design and make it even bigger, badder, and bolder. With this newest enclosure, Antec delivers a one-two punch that has left other chassis manufacturers reeling. Or has it? Will the Twelve Hundred live up to its hype? Is it the true heir to the Nine Hundred? HardwareLogic brings out the heavy artillery to find out!" *Link:* http://www.hardwarelogic.com/news/135/ARTICLE/4078/2008-08-04.html
  10. *NZXT Khaos Full ATX case review* http://www.techspot.com/review/107-nzxt-khaos-case/ More often than not we get the pleasure of testing some of the hottest PC components. From processors to graphics cards, these can sometimes go for well over the $500 mark. And while these very expensive parts are usually targeted at gamers and the enthusiast crowd, you will find it rare to have this same group spending as much on other parts like a case, for example. Those were our thoughts when NZXT contacted us last June announcing their new Khaos all-aluminum gaming chassis which is selling for nothing short of $400. NZXT is better known for their creative looking gaming cases that sell for $150 or less. However, we must respect the company's evident intention of upping the ante with a flagship product of their own. So what does the Khaos offer for this kind of money? This quickly turned out to be the $400 question as I ripped this case out of its enormous box. Having finally removed the packaging, I proceeded to lift the 34.6 pounds slab of case and dumped it on the nearest desk.
  11. Hello Again, Futurelooks checks out one of them fancy sub-notebooks... MSI Wind U100 Sub-Notebook Review At COMPUTEX Taipei 2008, we got flooded with a wide assortment of Eee PC competitors. The two things that most of these units had in common was the fact that they had displays larger than seven-inches and most were powered by the new Intel Atom processor. On paper, one of the most appealing offerings was the MSI Wind. Although it has gone through its fair share of delays, the MSI Wind is now available for mass market consumption and we had the chance to take a review unit out for an extended test drive. 13. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Trade Shows) - QuakeCon 2008 – Visiting the Vendors QUOTE: "Several PC companies came out to show their support of gaming. AMD, Intel, Dell, Kingston and Cyber Power were the big names of the show, but several others had smaller displays as well. Each company used their own methods to attract gamers; some gave away loads of products, and others had exotic booth babes. A few companies simply let their products speak for themselves. With so many gamers in attendance, all were successful. QuakeCon was a perfect spot for these companies to showcase their products to users. While many attendees were only roaming the Vendor Halls looking for free swag, several were knowledgeable consumers looking to make their purchasing decision based on the companies that support their growing sport." 14. A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the Gigabyte HD 4850 GV-R485-512H-B Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "This card was a bit tough to overclock because the temperatures held it back. I was able to get the card from the stock GPU clock speed of 625MHz all the way up to 675MHz. The memory went up from the stock frequency of 990MHz up to 1075MHz. Overall, that's a pretty good overclock, especially since this card was overclocked 35MHz more on the GPU and 30MHz more on the memory than the PowerColor HD 4850 that it's competing against. With an aftermarket cooler, I'm sure this card would be able to go much higher than what I got it at." 16. Years ago, it wasn't uncommon to see enthusiasts running generic or case throw-in power supply units. Most wouldn't be caught dead with one now, of course, but back then we had larger problems to deal with and precious few PSUs from which to choose. Fortunately, that's no longer the case. The power supply market has been flooded with new entrants of late, with seemingly every company that caters to enthusiasts looking to jump on the bandwagon. These newcomers join a market teeming with mature players who have been honing their craft for a while, and the resulting selection can be a little overwhelming. Finding a good PSU—or, more specifically, the best power supply—in a sea of largely look-alike competitors is no easy task, particularly when your needs are complex. On one hand, enthusiasts need plenty of wattage and clean power delivery to feed high-performance components. CPU power use may be falling, but GPU power consumption continues to rise, and you want to be sure there's plenty of wattage in reserve to handle The Next Big Thing. At the same time, power efficiency has become an important consideration not only as a token effort to reduce one's carbon footprint (which is really just a ploy to impress that cute, hippy barista at Starbucks), but because lowering power consumption reduces a system's cooling load, allowing for quieter operation. So which among the mob of new models on the market delivers the cleanest, coolest, quietest, and most efficient power? To find out, we've rounded up seven PSUs between 600 and 800W from BFG Tech, Enermax, ePower, Mushkin, OCZ, Thermaltake, and Zalman. We've thrown them all into the ring against not only our beastly load generator, but also our current favorite in this wattage range: PC Power & Cooling's Silencer 750W. Read on to see if the goal posts have moved in our quest for the ultimate enthusiast power supply. http://techreport.com/articles.x/15208 Thanks, Geoff ---- Geoff Gasior The Tech Report http://techreport.com -- To unsubscribe from: TR-News, just follow this link:

  25. Akasa have been in operation for a number of years now and are a well known name throughout the industry. They are best known for their cooling solutions and power supply units which are primarily aimed to performance oriented enthusiast users. Modern GPU chips have ever growing cooling needs, especially under overclocked conditions. Reference coolers aren't always able to keep up with the heat dissipation demands of these chips and the user may be able to get a lot more out of their card with the purchase of a more sophisticated cooling solution.
