  7. ASUS Lion Square Heatsink Review "The Asus Lion Square heatsink is a cylindrical tower of nickel plated aluminum fins wrapped around a 92mm PWM fan suspended in the center of it all. From the outside only the erie blue glow of the Sunon Maglev fan is visible, its noise is muffled to moderately audible levels. The edges of all fins are bent down about 10-15 degrees, with a portion of the edge punched out to improve airflow. It's a unique approach for certain." 8. Hi, We've just posted a new article on our website, Hardware Secrets. Title: 250 GB Hard Disk Drive Round-Up Link: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/592 Category: Reviews Summary: We compared the performance of nine mainstream 250 GB SATA-300 hard disk drive models from Seagate, Samsung, Western Digital, Maxtor and Hitachi. Which is the fastest 250 GB in the market? Check it out! Here is a snippet: "When buying a hard disk drive most users are only concerned with the drive's capacity. Should you also care about performance? We compared the performance of nine mainstream 250 GB SATA-300 hard disk drive models from Seagate, Samsung, Western Digital, Maxtor and Hitachi. Is there a big performance difference among them? Is it worthwhile to pay a little bit more and get a drive with a bigger buffer? If so, which is the fastest 250 GB in the market? Check it out!" A news post would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Gabriel Torres Editor-in-Chief Hardware Secrets http://www.hardwaresecrets.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------

  10. At Phoronix we have posted a new article. A link to this from your site's news section would be greatly appreciated. Title: SplashTop "Instant-On Linux" Gets Hacked ( -at -) Phoronix Direct Link: http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=12664 Summary: "Last October we were the first to deliver a full-review of DeviceVM's SplashTop which was an instant-on embedded Linux distribution at the time found on a lone ASUS motherboard. Since then there has been a commitment to SplashTop on all ASUS motherboards and even on ASUS notebooks. While ASUS has been the primary partner with DeviceVM up to this point, other manufacturers are exploring this market. One of our few gripes about SplashTop is that it's limited in the current applications available and doesn't allow for much tweaking with no terminal access. However, members of the Phoronix Forums have hacked SplashTop. They have been able to run SplashTop from a USB stick on non-ASUS motherboards, boot SplashTop within a virtual machine, run custom applications, and launch a terminal within this proprietary Linux environment." Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments you may
  11. tech seed logo *Dear Website Editor/News Poster,* After nearly a year in development, *techseed.co.uk* <http://www.techseed.co.uk> is ready for launch. For those not familiar the site, it runs in a similar manner to other networking websites, except this one has a big difference, tech seed only accepts hardware reviews; it's a *review networking hub*. While there are many similar sites out there, like digg and del.icio.us, they often fail to send much traffic your way due to hardware not being their main interest; not so with tech seed as you know every reader is there because they're interested in hardware reviews. tech seed not only helps raise awareness of your site, but has features designed to aid the site owner with news integration, providing you with *relevant* *hardware reviews straight to your inbox, automatically*. tech seed * **tech seed Features Simple Submission *The submission process for tech seed is incredibly quick and easy to use. All thumbnails are automatically resized for you with the proportions preserved. Category is selected from a drop down box and up to 5 relevant keywords can be chosen by the user. * Guaranteed Front Page Link *While this might seem trivial, no other social networking site offers instant front page placement. As soon as you post your article, you will receive a front page spot. * **Simple Email Integration *Want to receive extra news emails? Don't have enough people to email your news to? tech seed can help. As soon as you post an article, anyone who has registered an interest in that category will receive your news in their inbox. This works both ways, as whatever categories you are interested in can easily be selected in your account's syndication settings and you too will receive relevant news, as soon as an article is posted. * Individual RSS Feeds *Every category, has it's own RSS feed which is automatically updated. This allows yourself and your users to stay up to date with your content as well as well as those of similar websites. * * *Spam Prevention* tech seed is designed to stay spam free using a few simple methods: * Only those able to add a text file to their FTP can signup. This not only prevents spammers, but also stops people from making fake accounts and posts on behalf of other sites. * tech seed doesn't use ratings to rank posts, it uses "Trust". The Trust system means that in order to rank highly on the front page you must first have posted enough articles to become trustworthy. Trust also affects how many people receive your automatic emails. While theoretically, everyone will eventually become trustworthy, it at least weeds out those who are willing to ignore guidelines to get more views. * Zero tolerance policy on spammers. Those caught spamming or deliberately ignoring guidelines will first have their trust reset to 0 and receive an official warning. Those who repeatedly ignore the guidelines will be banned permanently. *Established User Base * Although tech seed is only officially launching today, it has been in use for several months by a select few review sites who were kind enough to test out new features for us. Some of the top current users are: *TechPowerUp*, *MVKTech*, *TheTechLounge*, *XtremeComputing*, *PCFrags* and *MeetTheGeeks*. tech seed is a completely free service, though any back links are of course, greatly appreciated. If you'd like to sign up, you can do so at the *Sign Up page Here <http://www.techseed.co.uk/signup.html>.* We look forward to networking your reviews. *The tech seed team* -------------------------------- www.techseed.co.uk <hyyp://www.techseed.co.uk> admin ( -at -) techseed.co.uk <mailto:admin ( -at -) techseed.co.uk>

  20. Hi News Poster Hardwareoverclock Austria has posted another processor review. Last week the has tested the Intel2Extreme QX9650 processor. One year after the release the price is still very high, why the chip is thought only for certain customers, overclockers. The high performance is already known, but what of the reserves? This is the most important theme in this article. 21. NorthQ are a relatively newly formed Danish company who have a diverse range of products ranging from PC cooling solutions to power supply units. We have reviewed many NorthQ products in the past, including several power supply units which we found to be very capable. Today we will take a look at another NorthQ power supply, the Black Magic Flex 650W. This is a modular PSU selling at a very competitive price. http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=597 DriverHeaven and GamingHeaven News Mailer
  22. Hello everyone, Sans Digital MS1U Media Saver " You are probably like most people when they go on vacation and use a digital camera with a few memory cards. It would be great if you didn't need a computer all the time to constantly backup your photos. The MS1U from Sans Digital is billed as a digital photo bank and it does just that. It takes a laptop (IDE) hard drive and converts it into portable storage for your memory cards. 24. Hell Everyone, VIA caused quite a stir a few months ago when the company first revealed initial details regarding their low-power Nano processor. At the time, the product was referred to by its internal codename of Isaiah and the president of the design center that was tasked with making the processor was decidedly outspoken, which made for some exciting reporting. When news of the Isaiah core first broke, we hopped on the line with Glenn Henry, VIA's Centaur design center president, and got many questions answered regarding the processor's architecture, features, expected performance, and the company's plans for the CPU. We also covered the official announcement of the VIA Nano processor and detailed the exact models that would be available at launch. One thing we hadn't been able to do, however, was a direct performance comparison of the VIA Nano processor versus Intel's recently released Atom, which is target at the same market segment. Thankfully, we were recently given the opportunity to take a VIA Nano reference platform for a spin to see what it could do and will be presenting our results for you here today. URL: http://www.hothardware.com/Articles/VIA_Nano_L2100_vs_Intel_Atom_230_Head_to _Head Site: http://www.hothardware.com/ As always, a link in your news sections would be much appreciated! 25. The VIA Nano processor, formerly known as Isaiah, is finally benchmarked and tested against the Intel Atom platform. Which of these two budget processors and systems is going to be the best value? Which truly offers the better power efficiency? Come in and read our review of the Nano and Atom CPUs to find out! URL: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=597 Quote: "For an incredibly inexpensive and low power part, the VIA Nano L2100 CPU was very impressive from a performance perspective. Using just 20 watts or so of power at load the Isaiah architecture running at 1.8 GHz could handle our media encoding, our PCMark05 general purpose tests and even a little gaming. The numbers aren't going to impress you enough to make this your next gaming system of choice but for budget notebooks and PCs I can easily see VIA's part providing enough power." Thanks for a post!!
