Hello All, Early last year, Antec launched their gaming line of cases with the Antec Nine Hundred - instantly garnering praise throughout the PC enthusiast crowd. Its main claim to fame was the complete openess of the front bezel, using perforated bays and 120mm fans to keep airflow rushing inside. Also notable was the expansive interior, bottom-mounted power-supply unit, and oversized "Big Boy" 200mm fan placed at the top that allowed some massive cooling over the CPU socket area. We were able to take a look at the Nine Hundred ourselves and were pretty impressed overall, although we noted there were a few things that could have used some improving. Well, Antec is back at it again with a dual offering for this year. The Antec Twelve Hundred is a beast, featuring twelve bays and 6 large fans with two more mounts for installing additional units. Price, however, can be an obstacle as the Twelve Hundred sells north of $200 US. As a counterpoint, Antec has now released the Three Hundred Gaming Case. As its name might suggest, the Three Hundred is a pared down version of their Nine Hundred gaming case, that sells for less. It features six bays like the Nine Hundred, and includes some of the newer ideas used on the Twelve Hundred, but ships with fewer fans and accessories. 38 New Apple iWeb and Rapidweaver Templates and Themes - Published on 07/16/08 iWebTemplate has collaborated with Jumsoft, iPresentee and 11Mystics to bring you a growing collection of 38 Apple iWeb templates and RapidWeaver themes. These templates are available to use in creating websites, blogs, and podcasts complete with photos, movies, and music. Suffolk, United Kingdom - iWebTemplate has collaborated with Jumsoft, iPresentee and 11Mystics to bring you a growing collection of 38 Apple iWeb templates. These templates are available to use in creating websites, blogs, and podcasts complete with photos, movies, and music. Four simple steps get you started: buy, download, install the theme, and insert the required information, pictures, movies, or whatever you need into your Web site. Jumsoft iWeb themes come with their own installer application, so you don't have to worry about moving them to iWeb. As always each theme contains numerous page layouts you are likely to need, such as "Welcome," "About Me," "Photos," "My Albums," "Movie," "Podcast" "Blog," and "Blank." Some of the new iWebTemplate themes include: Flowered World: The Flowered World theme reveals your fashionable attitude towards Web site style. The main focus of this theme is the fancy and modern flowered background. The Flowered World theme consists of three main parts: the background and two layers of different importance. You can represent the information in two ways, placing the main material on the first layer and the description of it on the second layer, or vice versa, depending on your needs. There are seven different backgrounds to choose from; French blue, teal, flame, Dartmouth green, Scarab green, orange, and citrus. Paradise: The Paradise theme has a solid atmosphere with a little bit of fun. The neutral background, which blends from black to grey, allows you to play with other colors without the fear of a too-loud color scheme. Your new photos will be noticed instantly in the Paradise theme because your pictures look like they have been posted separately on the Web site. There are five variant pastel color schemes with the same background for the Paradise theme; pink, bluebird, scarab green, golden poppy, and orange. Red Line: The Red Line theme has a lucid and summery mood. The light colors of this theme certainly will elate your visitors as well as yourself. You can choose one of five different design variants for the Red Line theme depending on which particular details of your Web site - in one variant, the emphasis is on the new pictures, while in another one, the focus is on the news or labels, etc. Business: There are some unusual color schemes, but the result of the Business theme is commendable. The background blends from a light color to white, enabling your visitors to keep their attention on the important information. The atmosphere of the Business theme is in between solid and fun, so neutrality is guaranteed. The most noticeable difference among the Business theme variants is highlighting your news in few ways - loud, very bright, bright, noticeable, or neutral. Color Beauty: The Color Beauty theme fits perfectly when you need to be noticed. Three main colors prevail in Color Beauty theme - white, black, and a bright one that you will choose. Surprisingly, the loudness of the bright colors is not too intense. There are also sheets for the particular layouts so your Web site content will be noticed quickly. There are five bright color schemes to choose from with the Color Beauty theme background - orange, bluebird, scarab green, orchid, and mint green. Transparent Ribbon: A transparent ribbon in this theme reflects the endlessness of the important information on your Web site. It is also conveys the idea that your information is always current and frequently updated. The Transparent Ribbon theme fits perfectly for the solid business image. You can choose one of five different backgrounds for your Web site title that matches the color of your headlines, including pansy, beige, cherry, scarab green, and bluebird. Simple Info: The Simple Info theme looks like a piece of paper has been posted on the screen. There is also an international symbol for information that automatically conveys the importance of your Web site's content to your visitors. A solid atmosphere with a little bit of great mood is guaranteed. Choose one of five colors to highlight the information symbol to match the headlines of your Web site - orange, orchid, bluebird, scarab green, and cherry. Striped Paper: The Striped Paper theme conveys a sweet and pleasant attitude towards the visitors of the Web site. The news or other important information will catch your visitors' eyes because the main part of the Striped Paper theme seems to have been posted on the screen. Choose one of five Striped Paper themes depending on how you want to highlight your news - loud, very bright, bright, noticeable, or neutral. Teddy: The Teddy theme name says everything about itself. The Teddy theme arouses a crowd of feelings - parental love, sweetness, happiness, care, tenderness, and a lot more. The Teddy theme is especially recommended for new parents to register the growth of their baby. It also perfectly fits a company providing baby goods. There are five different color schemes to choose - for girls, for boys, or three general color schemes. Modern Daybill: The Modern Daybill theme looks like two separate layered pieces of paper. The shadows of the first paper on the Web site create a real 3D look, so your information seems to be real and compelling. You can choose one of five colors for the first background to match the headlines of the main paper - beige, charcoal, blue flower, cherry, and black. iWeb Templates: http://www.iwebtemplate.com Jumsoft Templates: http://www.iwebtemplate.com/index.html?appleiwebtemplates7.htm 11Mystics Templates: http://www.iwebtemplate.com/index.html?appleiwebtemplates.htm iPresentee Templates: http://www.iwebtemplate.com/index.html?appleiwebtemplates4.htm iWebTemplate.com offers standard website templates, flash templates and other products that can be used as a basis for fast and high-quality website. Hello, We've just posted our latest review and would love it if you linked it. TIA! "With HD already shaping the future in so many ways, the VGN-AR61ZU is one of the most sophisticated all-round Blu-ray solutions available. Whatever you want, from pure entertainment right through to editing HD video content, the VGN-AR61ZU is a logical choice. It looks good, however it is pricey. But it is a powerful PC that's also a fully featured Media Center and Blu-ray player, so it's unlikely to disappoint as it more than fulfils the role of a desktop replacement. Frequent business travellers should note that battery life is poor at around 1h 30m, and gamers should spend their money on a system that includes nVidia SLI technology, 1TB hard drive capacity (dual 7200rpm hard drives), and a built-in subwoofer. Others should consider." http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=781 _____ Christian Harris Editor/Publisher BIOS (http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk) _____

Hello everyone, Kingston HyperX 2GB PC3-12800 " DDR3 is finally coming to a price where many mainstream system builders will be willing to pay. Manufacturers must provide mainstream DDR3 solutions to fill in the gap between the high end (and inexpensive) DDR2 and the very expensive, high speed DDR3 modules. While the HyperX line from Kingston may not be the mainstream product, the KHX12800D3K2/2G kit is described as the mainstream overclocking kit. It is far cheaper than speedier kits but lacks the tight timings as well. This could be the kit that kicks off DDR3. I am pleased to announce version 2.15.1 of the Python bindings for GObject. The new release is available from ftp.gnome.org as and its mirrors as soon as its synced correctly: http://download.gnome.org/sources/pygobject/2.15/ There are two new significant features in this release series, initial bindings for GIO. Note that these are not complete, please report missing API in Bugzilla so we know what people are missing. Codegen has been moved from PyGTK and can now be used without depending on GTK+, which should be useful for GObject based libraries. What's new since PyGObject 2.15.1? - Rename pygtk-codegen-2.0 to pygobject-codegen-2.0 to avoid conflicting with PyGTK (Paul Pogonyshev) Blurb: GObject is a object system library used by GTK+ and GStreamer. PyGObject provides a convenient wrapper for the GObject+ library for use in Python programs, and takes care of many of the boring details such as managing memory and type casting. When combined with PyGTK, PyORBit and gnome-python, it can be used to write full featured Gnome applications. Like the GObject library itself PyGObject is licensed under the GNU LGPL, so is suitable for use in both free software and proprietary applications. It is already in use in many applications ranging from small single purpose scripts up to large full featured applications. PyGObject requires glib >= 2.8.0 and Python >= 2.3.5 to build. GIO bindings require glib >= 2.16.0. -- Johan Dahlin jdahlin ( -at -) async.com.br _______________________________________________

Summary: Updated php packages that fix several security issues and a bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. This update has been rated as having moderate security impact by the Red Hat Security Response Team. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS version 4 - i386, ia64, ppc, s390, s390x, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop version 4 - i386, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES version 4 - i386, ia64, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS version 4 - i386, ia64, x86_64 3. Description: PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language commonly used with the Apache HTTP Web server. It was discovered that the PHP escapeshellcmd() function did not properly escape multi-byte characters which are not valid in the locale used by the script. This could allow an attacker to bypass quoting restrictions imposed by escapeshellcmd() and execute arbitrary commands if the PHP script was using certain locales. Scripts using the default UTF-8 locale are not affected by this issue. (CVE-2008-2051) The PHP functions htmlentities() and htmlspecialchars() did not properly recognize partial multi-byte sequences. Certain sequences of bytes could be passed through these functions without being correctly HTML-escaped. Depending on the browser being used, an attacker could use this flaw to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. (CVE-2007-5898) A PHP script which used the transparent session ID configuration option, or which used the output_add_rewrite_var() function, could leak session identifiers to external web sites. If a page included an HTML form with an ACTION attribute referencing a non-local URL, the user's session ID would be included in the form data passed to that URL. (CVE-2007-5899) It was discovered that the PHP fnmatch() function did not restrict the length of the string argument. An attacker could use this flaw to crash the PHP interpreter where a script used fnmatch() on untrusted input data. (CVE-2007-4782) It was discovered that PHP did not properly seed its pseudo-random number generator used by functions such as rand() and mt_rand(), possibly allowing an attacker to easily predict the generated pseudo-random values. (CVE-2008-2107, CVE-2008-2108) As well, these updated packages fix the following bug: * after 2008-01-01, when using PEAR version 1.3.6 or older, it was not possible to use the PHP Extension and Application Repository (PEAR) to upgrade or install packages. In these updated packages, PEAR has been upgraded to version 1.4.9, which restores support for the current pear.php.net update server. The following changes were made to the PEAR packages included in php-pear: Console_Getopt and Archive_Tar are now included by default, and XML_RPC has been upgraded to version 1.5.0. All php users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which contain backported patches to resolve these issues. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied. This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_58_10188 5. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ===================================================================== Red Hat Security Advisory Synopsis: Moderate: php security update Advisory ID: RHSA-2008:0546-01 Product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advisory URL: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2008-0546.html Issue date: 2008-07-16 CVE Names: CVE-2008-2051 CVE-2007-5898 CVE-2007-5899 CVE-2006-7228 CVE-2007-1660 CVE-2008-2107 CVE-2008-2108 ===================================================================== 1. Summary: Updated PHP packages that fix several security issues are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1. This update has been rated as having moderate security impact by the Red Hat Security Response Team. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (Advanced Server) version 2.1 - i386, ia64 Red Hat Linux Advanced Workstation 2.1 - ia64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES version 2.1 - i386 Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS version 2.1 - i386 3. (CVE-2007-5899) It was discovered that PHP did not properly seed its pseudo-random number generator used by functions such as rand() and mt_rand(), possibly allowing an attacker to easily predict the generated pseudo-random values. (CVE-2008-2107, CVE-2008-2108) Integer overflow and memory requirements miscalculation issues were discovered in the Perl-Compatible Regular Expression (PCRE) library used by PHP to process regular expressions. These issues could cause a crash, or possibly execute an arbitrary code with the privileges of the PHP script that processes regular expressions from untrusted sources. Note: PHP packages shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 did not use the system-level PCRE library. By default they used an embedded copy of the library included with the PHP package. (CVE-2006-7228, CVE-2007-1660) Users of PHP should upgrade to these updated packages, which contain backported patches to correct these issues. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied. This update is available via Red Hat Network. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ===================================================================== Red Hat Security Advisory Synopsis: Moderate: php security update Advisory ID: RHSA-2008:0544-01 Product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advisory URL: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2008-0544.html Issue date: 2008-07-16 CVE Names: CVE-2008-2051 CVE-2007-5898 CVE-2007-5899 CVE-2007-4782 CVE-2008-2107 CVE-2008-2108 ===================================================================== 1. Summary: Updated PHP packages that fix several security issues are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 5. This update has been rated as having moderate security impact by the Red Hat Security Response Team. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS version 3 - i386, ia64, ppc, s390, s390x, x86_64 Red Hat Desktop version 3 - i386, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES version 3 - i386, ia64, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS version 3 - i386, ia64, x86_64 RHEL Desktop Workstation (v. 5 client) - i386, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v. 5 server) - i386, ia64, ppc, s390x, x86_64 3. (CVE-2008-2051) PHP functions htmlentities() and htmlspecialchars() did not properly recognize partial multi-byte sequences. (CVE-2007-5899) It was discovered that PHP fnmatch() function did not restrict the length of the string argument. (CVE-2008-2107, CVE-2008-2108) Users of PHP should upgrade to these updated packages, which contain backported patches to correct these issues. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied. This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_58_10188 5.
