Hi all, We have just published a review of *Gigabyte's GA-EP45-DQ6* motherboard - if you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/06/18/gigabyte-ga-ep45-dq6/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/06/gigabyte-ga-ep45-dq6/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"We do think Gigabyte has made a motherboard with a lot of potential here -- the board currently works very well under default conditions. It has tons of features---and some are genuinely great little nuggets---far, far better software and very good performance for DDR2 but even though it has lots of BIOS options we are unable to use with the board in its current state. Strip out the four Gigabit Ethernet sockets and strap on 802.11n Wi-Fi instead would give it a similar high end appeal but with more variety for home users. The hardware RAID implementation also needs more thought put into it. What is has done for us is lay the foundations for what could be some awesome value friendly EP45-DS3R or the DS5 that we had a first look at not too long ago. However, we'll give it a few months to see what Gigabyte comes out with on the BIOS side before we really see if they can shine." /* *Cheers guys! Tim Smalley www.bit-tech.net

Hi all, We have just published a detailed dismantling of the Asus Eee PC 901 sub-notebook - if you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/06/17/inside-the-eeepc-901-investigating-atom/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/06/inside-the-eeepc-901-investigating-atom/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"Getting in is relatively easy, providing you know where to look. You'll first need to remove the battery and take out all the screws on the underside (there should be 13 in total), including the one for the flap that hides the non-warranty voidable removable parts. Once that's out, take out the 16GB SSD and the single DDR2 memory module - note if you want to upgrade you'll have to replace this DIMM with a bigger one since there's only one socket available in the 901. We're still keen to try this 16GB SSD in another notebook and we'd love to know how much of the 901's BOM (bill of materials) is taken up by the SSD. To the left of the SSD slot and above the DIMM socket, there is the Wireless 802.11n module. Both antennas are connected to it - they run up and around the 8.9" LCD screen." /* *Cheers guys! Today we look at the Noctua NH-C12P. SNIP: Any computer enthusiasts would know the importance of keeping the components inside of a system running cool. This is especially true if you overclock because once pushing the hardware components to their limits, the resultant heat they generate can cause system instability and in some extreme situations ruin the hardware. Anyone who messes around with their system will know how crappy the retail processor heatsink is in keeping the temperature of the CPU running low. The retail Intel heatsink is extremely inefficient in the heat conducting department despite the fact it is running at extremely quiet. Thus, for those who overclock their system, having an after-market heatsink and fan is pretty much a given in order to achieve that perfect overclocking result. http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1285 A post on your site would be great if you can. Thank you, Scott -----------------------------------------

Why Microsoft Killing XP Is A Good Idea ( -at -) CoolTechZone.com "Microsoft?s decision to shut down retail sales of Windows XP is a good one, for Microsoft and consumers alike. One of the growth hurdles that Vista has faced is because of XP?s continued popularity. Of course, you can?t fault the users for not willing to spend to purchase a substandard product, but the fact continues to be that XP has limited Vista sales. And after a disappointing launch of Vista and its market adoption rate, Microsoft couldn?t be super excited to fix its anomalies." Passion and Professionalism in Play at Flashforward2008 Conference - Published on 06/17/08 Flashforward Conference and Film Festival embraces passionate Flash speakers to open doors and minds at August 20-22, 2008 event. The Flash industry, created and driven by passion, was developed by individuals creating new ideas, pushing technical and creative limits, and expressing themselves in unique ways. San Francisco, California - Beau Ambur spoke today revealing the details and direction of the Flashforward Conference and Film Festival, sharing his vision for this year's conference, and the shape and format of the program. The Flash industry, created and driven by passion, was developed by individuals creating new ideas, pushing technical and creative limits, and expressing themselves in unique ways. Using inspiration and passion as a benchmark Beau will shape the conference to push members of the Flash industry forward in their skills, careers, and thinking. These alignments will elevate their ideas, work, and careers." The Flashforward Conference and Film Festival is organized around inspirational main stage speakers who share one key attribute - everything the speakers create and do is driven by passion and executed with professionalism. A one track focus will be shaped by speakers who push attendee's ideas, and how attendees think about their work, to a new level. Not only will speakers cover diverse ideas they will also cover applicable ones. Those who attend Flashforward2008 will be inspired and revitalized - reminded what drove them to become part of the industry, challenge them to address the industry's growth, evolution, and its' new technologies. This gathering is meant to inspire, energize, and shine a light on where the industry's going while celebrating where it's been. According to Beau energizing individual designers and developers is how Flashforward2008 can best contribute to each individual's growth and the growth of the entire industry. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Motherboards) - MSI P45 Platinum Motherboard QUOTE: "Today we have an early market sample of MSI’s P45 Platinum which is their top of the range board, this designed to compete with both ASUS’ and GIGABYTE’s ultra high-end P45 offerings. While it doesn’t have the full retail packaging included, we’ve confirmed with MSI that it’s the final revision board in our labs. For our comparison today, we are pitting the MSI P45 Platinum against our oldest but most impressive P35 board we have, GIGABYTE’s P35 DQ6. Both are based on DDR2 memory which make these systems equally matched apart from the change in chipset." SonicMood Debuts MP3s, A New Version Release and important Medical News
news posted a topic in Upcoming News
SonicMood Debuts MP3s, A New Version Release and important Medical News - Published on 06/17/08 Each of SonicMood's 28 Moods are now available as 30 and 120 minute, high quality mp3s and the application has been updated to version 4.8.6. There are new clinical findings showing that music like SonicMood's can significantly reduce high blood pressure. Paradise, California - SonicMood is Ambient Music at its best. The premier Mac ambient music generation application made by Bit Of Paradise Products has just made available all 28 of the Moods as both 30 and 120 minute MP3s. Now you can take SonicMood wherever you go. The new release, version 4.8.6, is mostly an assortment of refinements to the software itself so that future improvements and updates perform more efficiently. On May 14th, 2008, in New Orleans, researchers at the national convention for the American Society of Hypertension announced medical findings that fit perfectly with what SonicMood can do for mind, body and soul. This is the direct quote from the news wire from that day: Listening to just 30 minutes of rhythmically homogeneous music every day may significantly reduce high blood pressure, according to researchers at the American Society of Hypertension's Twenty Third Annual Scientific Meeting and Exposition (ASH 2008). In the first study to examine the anti-hypertensive effect of music listening on ambulatory blood pressure (ABP), today's findings reveal that patients with mild hypertension who listened to just half an hour of classical, Celtic or raga music a day for four weeks experienced significant reductions in 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (ABP). When one looks at what rhythmically homogeneous music means, one must immediately include SonicMood in this category of musical types too! The advantage with using SonicMood over the other types of music mentioned is the fact that SonicMood generates its music automagically. Automagically is what Bit of Paradise Products call the way SonicMood forever randomly plays a Mood until you stop it. And this is exactly something you might never find via the streaming ambient music station on the net. SonicMood 4.8.6 is the latest example of how a Mac can be further used to interact with your personal life in a way that touches the soul. When it is time to relax or there is a need to block out those distractions, SonicMood is an alternative to iTunes because SonicMood is exactly what iTunes is missing! Bit Of Paradise Products has recently created a web domain for each of its 28 Moods for the convenience of the MP3 purchasers. Each of these Mood websites plays a five minute soundtrack when the Mood is visited. From each Mood website, both the 30 and 120 minute MP3 for that Mood may be purchased. Brief summaries of the new features and fixes for the 4.8.6 version: * Re-factored several major components of SonicMood to reduce the code size a bit * Changed the way Soundfiles and Scene files are handled * Improved the drag & drop behavior for the Moods and Soundfiles list * Added a separator between the Scales and the Patterns lists * Time Of Day window is now resizable * Time of Day minimum play time and repeat interval settings are remembered * Made a number of other under the hood improvements to SonicMood SonicMood features: * Automagically plays polyphonic sounds with stimulating harmonies * Optimized for Leopard with iTunes-like operation * 28 pre-defined Moods * Moods are completely customizable * Create you own Moods and export them to share with others * 128 MIDI keyboard available on demand * Create soundtracks for film/movies with no copyright issues! * Quite possibly more features than you'll ever use SonicMood Benefits: * Block out annoying background sounds and noise * Can be a health benefit, lowering high blood pressure * Quite possibly the best sleep aid you can find that you do not have to swallow! * Soothes the users into a relaxed state of being * The one music station that everyone can agree on at work SonicMood costs $12.95 USD. SonicMood 4.8.6 is a free update for registered users of SonicMood. A fully-functioning demo version is available at the Downloads page of the SonicMood website. Mac OS X 10.3.9 is required as a minimum. The high quality 30 minute mp3s are $1.69 and the 120 minute mp3s are only $3.49. Stimulate yourself with harmonic moods to relax your inner self. Use SonicMood to create your own royalty-free soundtrack or background music for a video. Listen to SonicMood for at least a minimum of 30 minutes per day to reduce high blood pressure. Anyone can certainly find out more at the website where they can see many screenshots, tutorials, testimonies and even hear a sample of what SonicMood sounds like. The long list of improvements completed since the release of SonicMood version 4.8.5: * Re-factored several major components of SonicMood to reduce the code size some, lower the chance of bugs, and make future improvements easier * Changed the way Soundfiles and Scene files are handled so they're kept in a centralized location. Both sets of files are located inside the Application Support/SonicMood folder inside the user's Library folder. The Soundfiles are located in the Soundfiles folder and the Scene files are located in the Scenes folder. PLEASE NOTE: There is a bug in the PowerPC version of OS X v10.4.10 (fix = update to 10.4.11) that causes the initial copying of Scene files to the new location to fail. The original five Scenes will be substituted instead * Improved the drag & drop behavior for the Moods list and soundfiles list. You can now drop a folder containing other folders of soundfiles and even including Mood files and they will all be copied to the appropriate places and the Mood files will be added to the current Mood file * Added a separator between the Scales and the Patterns lists in the Mood Info/Edit window so their respective heights are adjustable * Made the Time Of Day window resizable, and changed its Mood selector from a ComboBox to a Popup Menu to avoid problems with Moods with similar names * The Time of Day minimum play time (For at least) and repeat interval (Repeat every) settings are remembered if they were changed by the user * Holding the shift key down while using the mouse to adjust either the Instruments or the soundfiles volume setting from the SonicMood window will now change the volume of all the Moods * Improved the behavior of the Mood timer so it doesn't start if the current Theme is empty of Moods * Fixed a bug that prevented the display of the changing sleep/wake/TimeOfDay timer digits when an arrow button is held down Bit of Paradise Products has recently created a marketing department by adding on another member to the team. Hello Technology News Community, I4U NEWS published a review of the BFG 9600 GT OCX Video Card. Quote from the review: "Today we are checking out the BFG 9600 GT OCX. This is one of the best performing and highest overclocked 9600 GT video cards we have tested to date. In the end the BFG 9600 GT OCX performed well, though it was out performed on a couple benchmarks ever so slightly by the Asus EN9600 GT Top. Some of the cards in this price range include nice game bundles, like the XFX 9600 GT Alpha Dog while the BFG 9600 GT OCX gets nothing additional."
