Judges Chosen for Flashforward Film Festival: Nominate Best Flash Work - Published on 06/11/08 Prestigious panel of judges for 18th Flashforward Film Festival announced; still time to nominate best Flash work before June 16th deadline. Big Orange Rubber Arrows awarded onsite at conference August 21, 2008 at the Flashforward Conference and Film Festival in San Francisco, California. San Francisco, California - The Flashforward Conference and Film Festival today announced the Judges Panel for the 18th Flashforward Film Festival taking place August 21st during the Flashforward Conference and Film Festival in San Francisco, California. Judges will determine four finalists and one winning entry in each of ten categories. Winning work is announced at the Flashforward Film Festival when Big Orange Rubber Arrows are bestowed upon the winners. The Flashforward Judging Panel includes: Aral Balkan, Pete Barr-Watson, Simon Conlin, Brendan Dawes, Chris Georgenes, Todd Sanders, Samuel Wan, and for the very first time Lynda Weinman. Flashforward Film Festival judges review work online for all ten festival categories - Application, Cartoon/Story/Narrative, Code, Experimental/Art, Game, Motion Graphics, Navigation/Experience, Sound, Typography, and Video - pinpointing the top four entries in each category. Festival nominations are judged in two rounds, by two separate panels of judges, although not all judges vote on all categories ensuring that both the widest possible aesthetic and opinion are represented. This judging format also ensures that no one sensibility drives the finalists or winners. And this format maintains both honesty and integrity within the judging process. Judges are required to withdraw from reviewing and judging categories in which their own work has been nominated. "Nothing says 'you've made it in the Flash world' quite like that Big Orange Rubber Arrow," said Aral Balkan, Web Developer, Singularity Web Conference. "It's the Oscar statuette for Flash." Nominations are open until June 16th, 2008 for all ten categories. Work submitted must be created predominately in Flash, and be available on the Web to any visitor with a current Flash Player. Work can be nominated in a maximum of three qualifying categories but can only be a finalist in one category per festival. Judges determine the category which best represents nominated work. To nominate work submit a URL directly to the piece to be judged or describe on the nomination form how to find it. There is no entry fee associated with the Flashforward Film Festival. Any and all work created using Flash can be nominated at their website. Flashforward Conference: http://www.flashforwardconference.com/ Nominate: http://www.flashforwardconference.com/nominate Flashforward Sponsors: http://www.flashforwardconference.com/sponsors Flashforward is the longest-running and largest Adobe® Flash user conference in the world. Intel's P35 Express chipset has been a revelation for the Core 2 platform, delivering the same excellent performance, low power consumption, and generous overclocking headroom of more expensive X38 and X48 variants at a much lower cost. Or at only a slightly lower cost, depending on whether you prefer your motherboard loaded with more frills and extras than the spawn of Pimp My Ride. But that's the beauty of the P35; it's equally capable of powering mainstream desktops, high-end gaming rigs, and the sort of balanced best-bang-for-your-buck systems that enthusiasts tend to build. If you've been around for long enough, the P35's success should come as no surprise. Intel's mid-range chipsets have been consistently solid year after year, establishing a virtual dynasty in an industry that doesn't always look kindly upon incumbents. It's no wonder, then, that expectations are high for the P35's successor, the new P45 Express. Intel hasn't messed with the formula much for the P45, but there are a few new tricks up its sleeve. A redesigned memory controller promises to take better advantage of processors with 1333MHz front-side bus speeds, for example. Second generation PCI Express connectivity has also been added to the mix along with a more balanced approach to CrossFire configurations. And ever the efficient manufacturer, Intel has managed to shrink the whole thing down on a 65nm fabrication process. The motherboard market is about to be saturated with a tidal wave of new designs based on the P45 Express, each with its own set of unique features and capabilities. We've already taken an early first look at what Asus is bringing to the table. Now that Intel has made the P45 official, we're diving a little deeper, this time with a couple of new motherboards from Gigabyte. Read on for a in-depth look at how the P45 Express fares against a collection of DDR2- and DDR3-equipped competitors ranging from its popular predecessor to Nvidia's uber-high-end nForce 790i SLI Ultra. http://techreport.com/articles.x/14882 Thanks, Geoff ---- Geoff Gasior The Tech Report http://techreport.com -- To unsubscribe from: TR-News, just follow this link:

Hello All, Crucial Ballistix 2GB PC3-16000 DDR3 " I've always been keen to recommend Crucial in the past when people wanted RAM with a lifetime warranty that works as expected. Not until a few years ago did Crucial start offering their Ballistix overclocking RAM. Fast forward to the new DDR3 days of today and we find a new Ballistix PC3-16000 kit that offers speeds of 2000MHz! You'll be pressed to find a board that can even handle this speed, I know I didn't have one. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (News) - Video coverage of upcoming IKONIK PSU and case products QUOTE: "During Computex Taipei 2008 last week we ran out of time to see the sheer amount of companies attending the event but today we got a chance to visit Kathy and her colleagues from IKONIK at their Taipei HQ. The first thing they showed us was their MAD TWEAKER software. It will be a feature of all upcoming IKOKIK Vulcan power supplies that range from 650 watts all the way up to 1200 watts. MAD TWEAKER is the first real-time power supply monitoring software that interfaces with your system via USB as well as wireless infrared – the demo we saw was hooked up using USB as the wireless system is still being fine tuned. This means that you’ll not only be able to monitor and control things like fan speeds and LED lights (on and off switching) from your main system but also from say a notebook that is near the system with the Vulcan PSU installed." Today we look at the QNAP TS-409 Pro. SNIP: QNAP’s attention to the quality of the components used in the construction of the TS-409 is refreshing to see, and still they have proven quality doesn’t automatically mean a higher price. At $550 for the non-Pro and $600 for the Pro version the TS-409 is priced well below most of their competitors. The TS-409 incorporates many Enterprise-grade features one would expect to see in a NAS that costs almost half again this amount, and as such literally blows away four-bay NAS solutions within its price range by offering a better value, feature set, and very strong performance. http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1280 A post on your site would be great if you can. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Visual) - BFG Tech GeForce 9800 GTX OCX 512MB QUOTE: "We mentioned the other day when we reviewed the BFG 9600GT OC2 that BFG had recently expanded its OC line-up with the addition of the OC2 and OCX models. While the 9600GT only goes to OC2, the 9800 GTX is the first model to make use of the OCX naming scheme. The OCX naming is the highest level of overclock from BFG; while the company has been a bit conservative with overclocks over the past year, they felt it’s time to kick it up a notch and expand upon the popular OC naming scheme." Unsurprisingly ASUS had a quite a few products on display - the company is simply not sitting still at the status quo and wants capitalize on the attention their Eee line is getting." Zalman shows 3D display and new mouse http://www.pcper.com/comments.php?nid=5770 ASUS builds systems, new Xonar HDMI audio card http://www.pcper.com/comments.php?nid=5768 Thanks for a post! A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the ZEROtherm Zen CPU Cooler FZ120 Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "The ZEROtherm Zen CPU Cooler has taken the towering heatsink design to the next level. ZEROtherm has decided to add a different feature when designing the Zen CPU Cooler by adding a honeycomb design to the fins in the middle of the heatsink, which will add to the surface area and make the dissipation of the heat more effective. Not only does it have the honeycomb design in the center of it, the Zen CPU Cooler is very large, allowing it to house a 120mm fan on it's front or back side. When you have the 120mm fan installed, the temperatures are average with the other coolers in it's class, however when you decide to take the 120mm fan off, the temperatures shoot up."
