Today we look at the Tagan Icy Box IB-NAS4220-B. SNIP: Network attached storage. Storage that is attached to a network. NAS. Don't these words just send shivers up your spine? Is there anything more exciting in the world of computers and technology? Well, truthfully most things out there probably are more exciting...until now. OK, so most of you probably don't go running to the local electronics store to check out the latest in network storage devices. I'm also guessing that a lot of you don't even think about owning one. I know I didn't - but that was before I received the Tagan Icy Box IB-NAS4220-B to review. Having owned several external hard drive enclosures, I've been perfectly happy with my single-drive boxes with pretty blue LEDs that easily connect to a single computer. After all, about the only use for an external hard drive is for backing up critical data on my PC, right? Not so, as I think you'll agree after taking a closer look at the latest Icy Box provided by Tagan. http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1281 A post on your site would be great if you can. Thank you, Scott -----------------------------------------

Title: Akasa AK965BL - socket 775 cooler Review ( -at -) XtremeComputing Quote: "If you have been reading XtremeComputing for a while, you will know that we have already reviewed an AK965 cooler from Akasa, and found it to be very good performance for the money. So what is different about this AK965? Well the last version of the cooler was intended for the OEM/system builder market, and because of demand for the AK965 Akasa has released a slightly updated version (blue leds and fan) straight to retail. This should mean that it will be available to buy in even more places." A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the Asus Striker II Extreme Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "The Striker II Extreme can overclock, but unfortunately, not quite to the level I have achieved on several other boards with this processor. Given the dearth of settings in the BIOS, it does take time to find a nice stable overclock. Pretty much every voltage and many of the memory sub-timings needed to be tweaked for maximum performance. My CPU is capable of 470MHz FSB, but due to the way the dividers are managed, I was only able to get stable at 450 MHz (1800MHz); the memory, on the other hand, was good up to 1000MHz (2000MHz). These speeds did not require massive voltages to get the job done. In fact the memory only needed 1.86 volts to hit that number. While 450 and 1000MHz are nice, the performance hit from running the memory unlinked is noticeable on this Nvidia board. With that in mind, I went to the well again and set the memory to Linked and Synced, which matches the memory and CPU FSB and essentially gives a 1:2 CPU to RAM ratio. By doing this, the performance increases dramatically, and this is how I ran the overclocked benchmarks." Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Editorial) - The High Score Run QUOTE: "This is a subject that comes up quite a bit in the real world. While I do participate in a number of online forums, it’s not something that is asked very often. Why is it that the majority of the products I review end up with such high scores? It might seem that I hand awards out all over the place, but it’s time I let you understand why. Ultimately, though, I like to think I’m good at what I do because I enjoy it. While I do a bit of behind the scenes stuff for TweakTown, most people know me as the graphics card reviewer. NVIDIA know me as that demon child who keeps releasing results on their new cards before we’re supposed to, but either way, I’m the graphics card man." Brain Computer Interfaces are the trend of the year. After almost one year of development, OCZ Technology's Neural Impulse Actuator is finally shipping. We have some of the inside scoop on the nia relating to the hardware and software development, as well as some glimpses at the more advanced possibilities of the device. At the end, we have some benchmarks - well, rather some pretty good scores in Unreal Tournament 3 to show that the nia can do a bit more than simply levitating obsolete computer hardware. This meshes well with the design intent of this product since it was designed to be a total solution for high quality stereo desktop audio for PC or Laptop use. The Ensemble system produced quality audio with good articulate bass, full midrange, shimmering high tones and huge soundstage all without a hint of distortion or noise. Hello Again, Futurelooks gives COMPUTEX 2008 its "Engrish" report card... COMPUTEX 2008 - Lost in Translation I do have to admit, however, that compared to what I’ve seen from the coverage in previous years, many companies have put some more effort into correcting their “Engrish” so that they are not the butt of jokes from Western media types like me. Of course, I guess there’s still plenty for us to snicker and giggle at. Direct Link: http://www.futurelooks.com/computex-2008-lost-in-translation/ A post to your news would be most appreciated! Craig’s List Search Agent Greatly Enhanced, 50% off until 6/10 - Published on 06/08/08 Black Pixel Luminance has released a beta version of Agent Craig capable of conducting search on almost 600 Craig's List sites worldwide, with support for 130 different search categories. The software, which normally retails for $29.99, is on sale for $14.99 until June 10th. Seattle, WA - Black Pixel Luminance has released an updated version of Agent Craig, the internet search agent for OS X Leopard, with dramatically enhanced search capabilities and a substantially reduced introductory price. The software runs as a background application, providing an unobtrusive way to look out for items of interest during work or at home. Discrete pop-up messages notify the user of new results matching their search terms, and each search campaign can be customized with a distinct audio alert. "The single largest item of feedback our customers gave us was 'provide searches for more cities, please'," said Dan Pasco, Black Pixel's CEO, "In our initial release we focused primarily on 22 major cities and a short list of major categories. The latest build has support for 598 cities and 130 distinct categories - a huge improvement." The expanded site list will allow users outside of major US metropolitan areas to effectively use the application. It also allows international users to access Craig's List sites as well, something denied to them in previous releases. "It's good to have this taken care of," said Black Pixel director of engineering David Brown, "We've been wanting to have this addressed since the day we went live with Agent Craig, but our schedule mandated that we hold off on world-wide support until after the initial release. As it stands, it took a lot of work to get these features in as quickly as we did, but it was a high demand item and we wanted to keep our users happy." In addition to the expanded search, the new version features performance updates and enhanced tools for collaboration with friends and family. The updated version of Agent Craig is currently available as a beta and will be distributed as a regular product update by the end of the week. The beta version can be downloaded for free from the Black Pixel website. Pricing and Availability: Agent Craig normally sells for $29.99 USD, but is being offered for 50% off ($14.99) until June 10th, 2008. The software can be downloaded for free evaluation or registered at the Black Pixel website. [Tech ARP] Intel Atom Processor, Intel Atom Netbooks & Nettops Launch
news posted a topic in Upcoming News
Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted the Intel Atom Processor, Intel Atom Netbooks & Nettops Launch. Quote - The Intel Atom microprocessor was officially launched on the first day of Computex 2008. NVIDIA had sought to dampen the Intel Atom launch by launching their competing Tegra system-on-a-chip a day earlier, but from what we could tell, Intel was totally unfazed. In fact, they did not even mention Tegra during the event. It was as if the Tegra wasn't even worth talking about... We had earlier covered the Intel Atom in our Intel Atom Tech Report, so it is really no secret what the Intel Atom can do. Based on a new microarchitecture, the Intel Atom was designed for use in the ultra-mobile, low-cost market that is the domain of netbooks and nettops. Basically, these are small and light notebooks that can be made cheaply. Hence, the requirement for a small, low-cost processor that offers better price-performance-power ratios that are possible with current notebook processors. Read on and find out.
