Hello News Partner: Benchmark Reviews has released a new article which your readers might enjoy. We would be grateful if you would please share it with them. TITLE: Samsung 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor 2220WM-HAS ( -at -) Benchmark Reviews DESCRIPTION: High-resolution wide screen monitors are very hot right now. As with most computer trends, one will see a new technology start off expensive before growing into a less expensive and more mature product. LCDs have come a long way themselves; transitioning from an early-adopter, niche market due to poor viewing angles and high product costs into the de facto standard monitor for all new computer systems. Like any piece of hardware, many users aren't content with a single standard size and usually want something bigger, better, larger and more life-like or some such. Hence, large LCD monitors are becoming the new toys that many computer enthusiasts are picking up. The Samsung 2220WM-HAS represents a maturing line of larger wide screen monitors that are surprisingly inexpensive nowadays. Title: Diamond Viper HD 3650 PE 512MB Reviewed ( -at -) TheTechLounge Quote: "ATI's HD 3650 replaces the HD 2600 Pro, a frustrating underachiever. Generally, I dislike video cards in the $50-100 range, mainly because they're not going to play new games well and, if you're after features, then you're better off buying a lesser model from the same series. The features here are the real selling points--two of which stand out ahead of price, connectivity (HDMI), and low power- consumption. First is video playback. ATI swings when it comes to playing movies, and even their entry-level cards are going to do well, if not flawlessly. Second is Hybrid CrossFire. All 3000-series cards can be run in CrossFire with motherboards that have the 780G (and upcoming 790GX) chipsets, in either a performance mode (like regular CrossFire) or power-saving mode, which completely powers down the video card when integrated video is good enough. Combined, these features might give cause to move up a price bracket, favoring a 36 over a 34." Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Storage) - Thermaltake BlacX SE SATA to USB Dock QUOTE: "Last week we took a close look at the Thermaltake BlacX (USB Version) and found it to be a product that many enthusiasts will not be able to live without. Thermaltake has three versions of the BlacX; USB, USB + eSATA and finally a feature rich version called the BlacX SE. The BlacX SE is for users that want to optimize every product on their desk. Convergence is key when you only have limited space. The Thermaltake BlacX SE has everything the BlacX (USB) that we reviewed last week has, but it adds an extra feature; an integrated USB 2.0 hub. The SE version sits a little taller than the other variants and has a wider base, but the size difference isn’t something you are going to notice since it is such a small amount." This update makes timezone provide backward timezone name entries in zone.tab file to solve this issue. Additionaly, updated timezone packages are being provided for older Mandriva Linux systems that do not contain the new Daylight Savings Time information for 2008 and later for certain time zones. Update: The previous timezone update for Mandriva Linux 2008 Spring triggered a bug in gnome-panel, making it immediately crash when the Gnome session was started. Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted the ED#92 : NVIDIA Spy ( -at -) Computex. Quote - The folks at NVIDIA have gotten extremely paranoid these days. From password-protected press documents to NDAs for just about everything, they now have a spy patrolling the Computex exhibition halls to lay down the law on their partners. Well, Mr. 007, you should never threaten journalists... Here's a quote from the editorial :- "Thanks to Mr. 007, I skipped much needed sleep to write this editorial and post these photos of an NVIDIA GTX 280 reference card in a demo case. Not that I thought they were particularly important, to be honest. That's why I didn't bother to post earlier. But since he "asked" so nicely, I thought I should oblige him." Below is a direct quote from the review: "The team over at Kingwin recently sent word that they would like for us to check out their latest hard drive enclosure, the Elite Series. The Elite Series 3.5" SATA enclosures, built of dual process anodized aluminum, feature a one touch back up system and are USB 2.0 and eSATA compatible. How will this combination of features stack up against the heavy competition already in the marketplace?" Patent Search and Freecycle Support Announced for OS X Search Agent - Published on 06/05/08 Black Pixel Luminance announces updates and two new plugins for Agent Craig, the internet search agent for OS X Leopard. Agent Craig, which already provides automated background searches of Craig's List and Ebay, now adds Freecycle groups to the list of sites available to tech savvy bargain hunters. In addition, a new patent search plugin allows for extensive intellectual property research campaigns via the US Patent office website. Seattle, WA - Black Pixel Luminance announces updates and two new plugins for Agent Craig, the internet search agent for OS X Leopard. Agent Craig, which already provides automated background searches of Craig's List and Ebay, now adds Freecycle groups to the list of sites available to tech savvy bargain hunters. In addition, a new patent search plugin allows for extensive intellectual property research campaigns via the US Patent office website. The first follows in the "bargain hunters" theme of the core application, and adds background searches targeting the sites in the Freecycle network (hosted by Yahoo! Groups). The second plugin is for intellectual property interests, and provides the ability to search the US Patent and Trademark Office for patents, both pending and approved, and to receive instant notification when new patents of interest are posted. "Patent search is an exciting move for us," said Dan Pasco, Black Pixel's CEO. "Anyone that has every been involved in patent research is keenly aware of what a chore it can be. A lot of Agent Craig's features, such as blacklisting unwanted results, were made with IP research in mind. The ability to monitor new patents conforming to your search is an added benefit." Blacklisting is a process by which unwanted results can be prevented from showing up in subsequent searches. In addition to the new plugins, the existing Craig's List search capability will be expanded to handle international sites and the full set of existing cities and categories. "The feature wish list never stopped growing, and I am thrilled to start work on the new Craig's List enhancements. Judging by the feedback, everyone else is eager for them too," said Bil Moorehead, senior developer at Black Pixel. Moorehead is Agent Craig's lead developer and is heading up work on the new features announced today. Both plugins are slated for a late June '08 release; pricing has yet to be determined. About Agent Craig: Agent Craig, which runs as a background application on OS X Leopard, provides an unobtrusive way to conduct periodic searches on remote sites. Discrete pop-up messages notify the user of new results matching their search terms, and each search campaign can be customized with a distinct audio alert. Users can browse search results matching their criteria, annotate results with notes for future reference, and blacklist search results deemed irrelevant to prevent them from showing up in subsequently defined search queries. Pricing and Availability: Agent Craig sells for $29.99 USD and is available for evaluation and purchase at the Black Pixel Luminance website. About Freecycle The Freecycle Network is made up of 4,488 groups with 5,240,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. As soon as something new and exciting is released, we're all clamouring for the bit of kit over the next horizon. Fortunately - to some extent - in the world of GPUs this was halted for a while with the 8800GTX ruling the roost for just over a year. Now however, we're back to the old system, and while many have their eyes glued to the next nVidia and ATI offerings, the current ones are quite interesting. Case in point, XFX's 9800GX2... in Quad SLI." *A news post on your site would be very much appreciated. Dear Media friends, APH Networks has published a new review that your readers might enjoy. A post in your site's news section would be greatly appreciated! * Title: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Processor ( -at -) APH Networks * Description: When we speak of heated competition in the computer world, we used to think of two pairs of rival camps: Intel and AMD, and then there were the nice memories of ATI and NVIDIA. After July 2006, it seems the maps have changed as AMD began to fight its still-ongoing two front war like Germany in World War II. Interestingly, this two front war came just at the right time after Germany took over the French capital. Those were the days when the Athlon 64 X2 was owning the Pentium D. Then they tried to blow its way against the east by spending $5.4 billion buying out ATI Technologies. Meanwhile, the other team were getting their acts together and the United States entered the war -- Intel brought in the Core 2 Duo that literally owned AMD in the enthusiast and consumer market. Two years later, Intel continued to floor the gas pedal -- and it's not a gas pedal in just any car -- continuing the cycle of price slashes, new stepping revisions, and lately the arrival of the Penryn 45nm CPUs. Well, here we are, with two vastly different CPUs sitting in our labs right now. Of which one is a so-called 'low end' dual core Wolfdale E7200 CPU (Like dang, I paid $200 for an E6300 back in 2006... this thing is low end? It's faster than an E6600) priced at $133 per 1000 units, and the second is the second best consumer processor from Intel -- the Core 2 Extreme QX9650 retailing for over $1000. Today, we'll look at the Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale CPU and see how much bang you can get for the buck. * Link: http://aphnetworks.com/reviews/intel_core_2_duo_e7200 * Image: http://aphnetworks.com/review/intel_core_2_duo_e7200/003.JPG
