  10. Hello Again, Futurelooks checks out the new generation of ASUS Eee PC... COMPUTEX 2008 Spotlight - Asus Eee PC 901/1000 Launch Event Following the success of the original Eee PC, Asus officially expanded the lineup by introducing no fewer than three new Eee PC subnotebooks at COMPUTEX Taipei 2008. They held an official launch event on the afternoon of June 3, 2008, introducing the world to a new generation of Eee PCs, all of which are bigger, badder, and more powerful than ever. They also appear to be much more energy efficient, because Asus has managed to bump the battery life up to nearly the eight hour range by using something called the Super Hybrid Engine. You’ll be hard-pressed to get that kind of life out of a full-sized notebook. I guess the Eee PC is pretty green. 12. We have a couple of interesting stories for you today from the show floor at Computex. Computex 2008: Antec Finds Skeleton in Closet URL: http://www.pcper.com/comments.php?nid=5736 Quote: "This design is less a "case" in the traditional sense and more an open test bed type of computer chassis. With slide out drawers on rails that allow you to move the motherboard section and power supply section out from under the ENORMOUS LED-lit fan, it is a frequent-component-changers dream case. Which means that you will be sure to find several of them in our testing labs very soon!" Computex 2008: Gigabyte Shows Retail-ready Intel Atom CPU and Motherboard URL: http://www.pcper.com/comments.php?nid=5737 Quote: "The motherboard itself is pretty sparse - only a single PCI slot, a single DDR2 memory slot, one IDE and a couple of SATA connections for storage and VGA-only output. It interesting to see that Intel is purposely holding back the designs of Atom motherboards by NOT ALLOWING them to add PCI Express, DVI output and other high end features; Intel doesn't want the Atom line to cannablize their Celeron-based desktop sales that are already make them a lot of money." Thanks for a post! Ryan Shrout PC Perspective

  14. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Visual) - Twintech GeForce 9600GT XXT OC Edition QUOTE: "I honestly thought that we were running out of letters to use for overclocked 9600GT cards. BFG pretty much has OC and OC2 locked down, Zotac has AMP!, ASUS has TOP and XFX has become tired of just using XXX, now opting for words like Alpha Dog. TwinTech has opted for XXT for its top overclocked 9600GT. It’s been ages since we’ve seen anything from TwinTech, but the last time we looked we were pretty impressed with what they offered." 15. Hello News Partner: Benchmark Reviews has released a new article which your readers might enjoy. We would be grateful if you would please share it with them. TITLE: Foxconn GeForce 9800 GTX OC 512MB Video Card ( -at -) Benchmark Reviews DESCRIPTION: NVIDIA usually pleases the enthusiast community with their product launches, and no launch has been more memorable lately than the GeForce 8800 GTX and GTS graphic card launch more than eighteen months ago. So when the 9800 GTX product line launched on April 1st, 2008 there was a lot of commotion surrounding the new crown prince. With such a successful debut of the 8800 GTX back in 2006, the level of enthusiast skepticism surrounding the new 9800 GTX was unquestionably high. First came the lower mid-level 9600 GT, and then the ultra-high level GeForce 9800 GX2 which utilized two G92 GPU cores. Yet title of fastest single-GPU video card remains the honor of NVIDIA's GeForce 9800 GTX. 17. Most of the news pouring forth from Computex thus far has been focused on smaller devices, but AMD has its sights set on a big cat, Puma, the firm's new platform for mainstream laptop PCs, which it officially announced today. Puma will do battle against Intel's upcoming Centrino 2 platform later this year. For the most part, Puma represents the "mobilization" of AMD's current desktop PC technologies, with a necessarily increased focus on dynamic power and performance scaling. Overall, that's not a bad place to start, and Puma adds some notable innovation on several fronts. http://techreport.com/articles.x/14858 Thanks, Scott __ Scott Wasson The Tech Report PC Hardware Explored http://techreport.com -- To unsubscribe from: TR-News, just follow this link:

  20. A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the Asus Triton 77 Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "The Asus Triton 77 heatsink is similar in design to some of the heatpipe based coolers on the market. Where it differs from those other coolers, is the updraft design. What this means is that the installed fan pushes air up and away from the CPU socket and motherboard. How this is accomplished, is by mounting the fan on the underside of the fin assembly to a shroud that directs all of the fans airflow through the fin array. There are 5 heatpipes used to draw the heat away from the CPU via the contact surface, which in turn carries the heat to the fin array to be dispersed into the air and out of the chassis. Embossed on the front of the heatsink is the Triton fork, as well as a tribal design that looks cool."
