TechwareLabs has published a review of the CREATIVE X-FI XtremeGamer FATAL1TY PRO SERIES. Here's a clip from the review: Quote: Often the most overlooked aspect of a new PC, the output of audio and its quality is very important. Today Matt Homan takes a look at the high end Fatal1ty branded Creative X-Fi sound card. Does it add to you gaming experience. The most appropriate comment might be to "listen softly and carry a big stick". PC Perspective has written an editorial that looks at the newly announced AMD GAME! initiative and how it has some things right and other things very, very wrong. URL: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=560 Quote: "One question that immediately came to mind while sitting and starting at this information was: will it actually help? One of key problems with the PC gaming market (and that AMD agrees with) is that the variances in hardware, drivers, vendors and software make compatibility an issue and lead gamers into negative experiences that sour the PC as a gaming platform. AMD's goal was to try and prevent that issue by creating GAME! that would attempt to set certain standards for PC in order to guarantee a quality gaming experience." Thanks for a post! Title: Seventeam Hurricane 1200W ( -at -) JonnyGURU.com Summary: In December, we took a look at the flagship of the Seventeam Electronics fleet, the Thundering 1200W. Recently, the folks at Seventeam asked us to take a look at the modular version of this mammoth beast, the Hurricane 1200W. Join me on a tour through our torture park as I find out just what this massive unit is made of and if it performs any differently from its brother. Will the platform earn a recommendation this time around? Hardware Canucks is pleased to present our review of the Sapphire HD3870 512MB TOXIC Edition plus an IN-DEPTH look at the performance and construction of Sapphire's Vapor-X heatsink. Link: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/7245-sapphire-hd3870-512mb-toxic-edition-review.html Quote: With the graphics card industry changing at a breakneck pace, the mantra of “innovate or get out while you still can†has never been so close to the actual truth as it is now. With their HD3870 Toxic, Sapphire has shown that they are much more than an OEM card manufacturer by releasing a card that is innovative, feature-rich and packed to the hilt with more goodies than you can shake a ram module at. It performs well in nearly every game even though the RV670 architecture is quite clearly behind that of Nvidia’s G92 in terms of raw performance potential and this card’s high-def video and audio processing capabilities keep it from being an also-ran. Basically, if you are playing at or below 1600x1200 resolution in DX9, the Sapphire HD3870 Toxic will be more enough for you. Velocity Reviews have a new review of the XBox 360 PC Controller, a quality console controller that works out of the box on a PC. "Although this gamepad costs slightly more than many competitors on the market, it is worth every penny. The development time for the Xbox controller has been significant, and it is no wonder that most other PC gamepad controllers are simply a cheaper clone of the original. The build quality and comfort of the pad are at the top end of most other options on the market, so it would be difficult to find any controller able to beat this device. Today, we take a quick look at Booq’s newest briefcase-style case for laptops, the Boa Case. We have seen evidence of Booq’s high quality and functionality when we reviewed their Python XL Backpack case. Unlike the Booq backpack, the $215 Boa Laptop case is much more conservative case looking more like a traditional laptop carrier. For this price, the Boa has to be special. Read on to see what this case is all about! Quote: "Booq calls the Boa “A travel bag designed especially for frequently-traveling professionals.” This bag has about 2,000 pockets and zippers to store all your favorite gear and gadgets. Actually, we counted 9 zippered pockets, 3 magnetic pockets, with 4 large compartments for your precious cargo. The outer material is made of water-repelling nylon that will keep the moisture out. Inside the Booq Boa, the laptop is housed in its own separate compartment that is lined with protective foam covered in very soft upholstery... P45 Sneak Peek: Gigabyte Does Spring Break In Taipei @ HotHardware.com
news posted a topic in Upcoming News
Hello Everyone, Gigabyte is so enthused by Intel's upcoming P45 chipset, it flew a multi-national crew of media from their respective home bases to its own headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan for two days of hands-on testing. During the event, Gigabyte gave us access to four SKUs based on P45 and an early look at a fifth extreme series board that will show off the P45's flexibility in a $300+ package. We'll get the bad news out of the way first. Because Intel hasn't yet launched the P45 chipset (Gigabyte predicted the official unveiling will take place at Computex during the first week of June), none of the benchmarks we ran were allowed to be published-nor should they be, since all of the P45 boards made available at the event were based on early PCB revisions, not-quite-complete BIOSes, and Eaglelake drivers loaded onto pre-configured Windows XP partitions. Not quite the controlled environment we'd normally use. The same story goes for overclocking results, though to be honest, what we saw wasn't necessarily representative of what we'd hope to get out of shipping hardware anyway... Today we look at the Sparkle 9800GTX. SNIP: With the GeForce 9-series NVIDIA has created quite a lot of confusion. Instead of a major update it seems that most GeForce 9 cards are merely updated versions of GeForce 8 cards, and unfortunately named so you cannot figure out which card is based on which. The GeForce 9800GTX is a perfect example. While the name implies that it is an upgrade for the GeForce 8800GTX, which it in a way is, it also is just a higher clocked GeForce 8800GTS 512 MB. You might wonder why NVIDIA didn’t just use GeForce 9 for all their G92 based cards but we may never know why. If you read our review of the Sparkle 8800GTS 512 MB you know that we really liked the card. So it sounds logical that the Sparkle 9800GTX should be just as good, doesn’t it? Well, that is what we want to find out in today’s review as we test it in a variety of benchmarks. http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1278 A post on your site would be great if you can. Thank you, Scott -----------------------------------------

Hi all, We have just published a review of *Lian Li's PC-V1110 chassis*. If you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/05/19/lian-li-pc-v1110/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/05/lian-li-pc-v1110/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"The V1110 isn't the most startling and jaw-droppingly amazing case we've ever seen. It didn't bowl us over and whip us up into a frenzy of drool and other juices, but nor did it disappoint us. Boiled down the basics, the V1110 is a case with a quiet, unassuming design. If it were a man then you'd describe it as a gentle giant and praise it for its inner strength. You'd admire that this is a case with nothing to prove -- and that's something we can appreciate. The V1110 doesn't deliver the best thermal performance we've ever seen and nor is it the quietest we've ever heard -- but it is good in both respects and manages to sandwich these successes in between a confident and simple design that'd make it a case fit for any room or décor. It's pretty, it's a good all-round performer and the construction is through the roof. On top of all that, it's a Lian Li, which is a name many case designers have quite rightly learned to look up to. The lack of wow-factor and its price may prevent us from going over the top score-wise, but this is nonetheless a case we'd recommend you have a very good look at next time you're in the market."/ * *Cheers guys! Hi all, We have just published a hands-on preview of *Left4Dead*. If you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/05/17/left4dead-hands-on-preview/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/05/left4dead-hands-on-preview/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"Left4Dead was always going to be great, that much we knew. It was coming from Valve and it was about zombies, so even before it was unveiled as a four player co-op we all knew we were going to be in for a good time. Yet still, //Left4Dead managed to surprise us in a number of ways, for reasons both good and bad. On the one hand we were utterly shocked to see how effective the AI director is at making the game unique and constantly replayable. On the other hand though, we have to admit that the levels we played through did seem a bit on the small side and it's getting to that point where the Source engine might be starting to show its age. The thing //is four years old by now and though continued development and expansion has helped, the cause is starting to flag a little. Not that that matters hugely when you get right down to it -- as far as //Left4Dead goes gameplay is God and the multiplayer backbone of Steam means that the game will run smoothly from the off. As I mentioned to Chet when I interviewed him, Valve has a reputation among games developers for testing games absolutely to death. What for many designers would be a case a few weeks at the hands of some tired half-asleep geeks is an on-going process of refinement for Valve and it's something that really shows in //Left4Dead. The game is immediately playable and easy to pick up, but underneath the hood are some incredibly complex and effective tools to make the experience unpredictable and constantly replayable. This is //Left4Dead's key strength and it makes the game easily one of our most awaited games of this year."/ * *Cheers guys! Tim Smalley www.bit-tech.net

Cyber Snipa Sonar 5.1 Pro Surround Sound Headset <http://www.guru3d.com/article/cybersnipa-sonar-5-1-pro-surround-sound-headset-review-test/>'>http://www.guru3d.com/article/cybersnipa-sonar-5-1-pro-surround-sound-headset-review-test/> CyberSnipa has its crosshairs on surround sound gaming headsets, but do they hit the mark? Yes and no is the definite answer. The Sonar 5.1 Pro Surround Sound Headset offers a decent all-in-one headset with 8 speakers, plush velvety comfort, and a USB connection. But it only offers mediocre sound quality. Theres little for me to do but tell you that it is a surround sound headset, with a lot of speakers, a miocrophone, but it the Sonar is also a USB sound card in its own right. Just plug it in, and you are ready to play. In fact, since this past September we've published more than 80 display driver articles with many of them being AMD related, and that's in addition to nearly a dozen graphics card reviews. On the AMD side, all of our testing has been done with the consumer-grade Radeon GPUs and IGPs, but that has changed today. In this article, we are providing our first look at the AMD FireGL V8600 1GB under Linux. We'll share our thoughts on this high-end workstation graphics card and specifically looking at how the Windows and Linux performance compares." Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Digital Lounge) - Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote QUOTE: "Logitech really is covering all the bases with its peripherals these days. The last Logitech product I reviewed was the MX Air Mouse and I thought that was a nifty bit of kit to control your home theater setup. The proverbial cake however has not just been taken; it’s been flaunted and eaten right in front of our starving faces. I'm referring to the Logitech Harmony One remote control here; a nifty slick piece of all-in-one cake that can control TVs, DVD players, VCRs, game consoles, home media center PCs, air conditioning units and pretty much everything else that uses an Infrared transmitting remote control." A news post would be great. OCC has published a new review on the MSI P7N Diamond Here is a quote from the review: Quote: "With the positive results I achieved with on the last 780i board I tested still fresh in my mind, I was looking forward to pushing the MSI P7N Diamond to the absolute limit. Unfortunately, the limit came rather quickly. I tried using the official BIOS and two of the available beta releases, and found that my overclocking efforts were severely hampered by an inability to lower the multiplier on my Q6600 processor. In fact, this same CPU has achieved rock-solid stability with its FSB set at 491MHz - but on the MSI P7N Diamond, stability stopped at 391MHz. The 780i boards are tough nuts to crack, but this one was just too tough, and did not produce much fruit for my labor. After spending a week trying to gain some semblance of stability, I found it at 391 x 9. Voltages up and down the spectrum were adjusted, and I even tried leaving them set to Auto just for kicks. Did the board overclock? Sure it did, but not to the extent I am used to seeing. It may be that a more mature BIOS is the key to unlocking all of the potential of the P7N Diamond."
