Hi all, We have just published an interview with *Jamie Keen, multiplayer producer for Battlefield: Bad Company* - if you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/05/11/bad-company-interview-jamie-keen/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/05/bad-company-interview-jamie-keen/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"BT: //You're sick of talking about premium content, I bet. But it was kind of a gutsy thing to do, you have to admit. JK: <sigh> Yeah. BT: //So, I guess -- why did you try to do it? And why with this game especially? JK: Yeah, so...I think the thing that people need to remember is that development costs on games these days are huge. So we always need to look at new revenue streams. It's not just a question of trying to rip people off and it's not just us trying to put one over on people -- we genuinely need to y'know...well, at the end of the day it's a business, right? We have to recoup costs and we have to make money. So, there are those kinds of things happening. You'll probably see more of that in the years to come. We've got nothing more planned at the moment, we've listened to the customers and the community is really important to us. We really want to maintain that two-way dialogue with our fans. So, we're not going to be doing anything -- I mean, we're giving Conquest away as free downloadable content later on. The weapons are now going to be free -- we just hope that the fans see that we're listening to them./ " * *Cheers guys! Tim Smalley www.bit-tech.net

Many laptops now are just as powerful as desktop computers if not more powerful. A lot of people now prefer laptops over desktop because they can easily take the laptop with them and they take up less space on their desk. One thing about laptops is they easily overheat, especially gaming laptops. That is where notebook coolers come in. Today we will be looking at the Cryo LX notebook cooler from NZXT, which looks like a pretty extreme notebook cooler."

Hello, OCIA.net has posted their review of the Vantec NexStar Hard Drive Dock. Below is a direct quote from the review: "The problem with all earlier forms of removable media is capacity. Even a 16 or 32 gig flash drive can be a little small for some uses, and they are pretty expensive. Think about it, you can pick up a 500 gig HDD for the price of a 16 gig thumb drive, or a 750 gig for the price of a 32 gig thumb drive. For that matter, you could get a RaptorX for the price of the 32 gig flash drive. Today, we will be taking a look at the Vantec NexStar Hard Drive Dock, an external solution for simple swapping of hard drives." Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted the Western Digital 1 TB Caviar GP Serial ATA Hard Drive Review. Quote - Western Digital's line of Caviar GP is the only drive in Western Digital to offer an astounding 1 terabyte capacity in a single drive! The combination of extremely large storage capacity and low power consumption was irresistible so we just had to give it a try. Was Western Digital able to deliver the same tremendous performance we saw in the smaller capacity 500 GB Caviar GP? Read on and find out! Here's a quote from the review :- "The Western Digital 1 TB Caviar GP delivers a terabyte of storage capacity with low power consumption at a relatively low cost. Hello, OCIA.net has posted their review of the SilverStone Decathlon DA700 Power Supply. Below is a direct quote from the review: "SilverStone is a company that needs no introduction. Although they have only been in business since 2003, in that time they have produced some great case designs. In the tradition of the Zeus and Olympia power supplies, with their single, large +12v rail, SilverStone now introduces the next generation of power supply built especially for enthusiasts, the Decathlon." Dear Editors, we just posted a new article which might be interesting to your readers. A post in your news section would be appreciated. Title: Hiper Anubis Link: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Hiper/Anubis Brief: The Hiper Anubis is an incredibly sturdy chassis, which goes the "trusted and true" route. You will not find any fancy layout or interior screw-less system, but thumb screws instead. The beautifully designed front is one good reason to give the Anubis a little plaque with a unique serial number on it.

Stockholm, Sweden - Snarb.tk today announced the immediate availability of Cover Stream 2.0, a major update to their popular iTunes controller that extends iTunes Cover Flow to the desktop. The new, highly optimized version features exquisite graphics by Laurent Baumann, a playlist and search filter, an integrated songs browser, Last FM and Apple Remote support, full screen mode, Apple-flavored bezels, desktop artwork, and much more. It was immediately listed as an "Editors' Pick" on Version Tracker. Cover Stream is one of the most popular iTunes controllers for the Macintosh. Developed exclusively for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Cover Stream extends iTunes Cover Flow to the desktop, giving you a quick and convenient way to control, browse and search your music library - without switching applications or interrupting your work flow. With Cover Stream, iTunes will no longer be more than a mere music server. Cover Stream 2.0 brings many new exciting features and improvements, including a new icon and exquisite graphics by Laurent Baumann. It has been highly optimized, uses 75 % less real memory, 90 % less hard disk space, and syncs with iTunes at twice the speed of earlier versions. Among the new features are a convenient and uncluttered playlist filter, accessible right from the window title bar, and a powerful search-as-you-type filter, providing you with a hazzle-free way to find the music to get you in the mood. The flipping window has been replaced by a seamlessly integrated songs browser, letting you pick a track from your favorite album or playlist without even leaving the Cover Flow. With full support for Last FM, you can now use Cover Stream to build a personal profile of your musical preferences, get recommendations and find out what you will love next. I am pleased to announce version 0.6.6 of the Python bindings for PySwfdec. It is available at: http://www.gnome.org/~gianmt/pyswfdec-0.6.6.tar.gz MD5: 4162579ccecc007dfabfea7667321b49 The bindings are updated with the new Swfdec API 0.6.6 Blurb: ====== Swfdec [1] is the library for decoding and rendering Flash animations. It is still in heavy development. The intended audience are developers or people using it for pretested Flash animations (think embedded here). If you use it on unknown content, expect it to have issues and don't be surprised if it crashes. If you encounter such a crash however, make sure to file a bug [2] immediately. PySwfdec is a wrapper which exposes the Swfdec API to the python world. It is fairly complete; most of the API are covered. The documentation is a work in progress, needs quite a lot of work in order to cover 100% of the API, anyway help will be greatly appreciated. Like the GTK+ library, PyGTK and Swfdec itself PySwfdec is licensed under the GNU LGPL, so is suitable for use in both free software and proprietary applications. PySwfdec requires: ===================== o Swfdec = 0.6.6 o PyGObject >= 2.10.1 (2.11.3 to build the docs) o PyGTK >= 2.10.4 o Pycairo >= 1.2.0 Bug reports should go to https://launchpad.net/pyswfdec/ [1] http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/wiki/ [2] https://bugzilla.freedesktop.org Use the swfdec component. cheers -- Gian Mario Tagliaretti _______________________________________________

SuperMegaUltraGroovy and Toastycode Announce TapeDeck for Mac OS X 10.5
news posted a topic in Upcoming News
SuperMegaUltraGroovy and Toastycode Announce TapeDeck for Mac OS X 10.5 - Published on 05/09/08 TapeDeck is a new audio recorder designed with a quick-capture workflow in mind. TapeDeck also adds many welcome improvements to traditional tape recorders, such as a never-ending supply of tapes to record on, far better audio quality, lots of space to write notes, and full compatibility with iTunes and the iPod. TapeDeck costs $25, and is available now. Waterloo, Ontario - SuperMegaUltraGroovy and Toastycode today announced the immediate availability of TapeDeck: an innovative audio recording application written exclusively for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. TapeDeck is a new audio recorder designed with a quick-capture workflow in mind. New recordings, called "tapes", can be started with a single mouse click (or keystroke). TapeDeck records directly to compressed MP4-AAC audio, making it useful for many applications including simple high-fidelity recordings of a band, practicing speeches, and capturing hours and hours of lecture. TapeDeck was designed to emulate a real cassette tape recorder with a few key differences. Every recording is automatically saved and organized in the searchable "tape box". There's no need to "tape over" anything, because a new recording is always just a click away. TapeDeck also adds many welcome improvements to traditional tape recorders, such as a never-ending supply of tapes to record on, far better audio quality, lots of space to write notes, and full compatibility with iTunes and the iPod. Rather than filling up a hard drive with raw AIFF or WAV audio, TapeDeck records directly to standard MP4-AAC files at one of three configurable compression settings. Users can add titles and even "liner notes" to each tape; TapeDeck allows fulltext searching on this data and makes it available to Spotlight, Quick Look, and iTunes as well. Tapes even look great in the Finder and Cover Flow. The rich animation features new to Mac OS X Leopard are put to dramatic use in TapeDeck's user interface, which is full of sound and motion. Live level meters, rotating cassette spindles, live search, and UI sound effects make TapeDeck truly fun to use. TapeDeck costs $25, and is available now. The unregistered version has approximately 2 weeks of gradually declining battery life, and only short, low-quality recordings are permitted. TapeDeck requires Mac OS X 10.5.2, and runs well on any Mac that runs Leopard. SuperMegaUltraGroovy is best known for FuzzMeasure, the 2006 Apple Design Award runner-up in the Scientific Computing Solution category. About Toastycode: Daniel Sandler started releasing software under the Toastycode label on the fourth of July, 2006 with the debut of Pyrothèque, his love letter to a misspent youth in a computer lab full of Mac Pluses, ImageWriters, and pixellated fireworks. Hi there, We’ve just posted our latest review and would love it if you linked it. TIA! “Actinic is comprehensive. It’s certainly ready to use out of the box, unlike many enterprise products, and offers lots of room for customisation as your online store grows. The only downsides are that it’s overwhelming for sole traders and you will likely need the help of a designer and Web developer (some HTML code can get complicated). If you’re a one-man outfit looking to make your first steps into e-commerce quickly and easily, Actinic probably isn’t the right choice, even though there is the cut-down Actinic Catalog (£379 ex. VAT). You should also consider that custom development allows a lot more flexibility in setup and design - such as integrating a store into your existing Web site, creating a look and feel that is markedly different from your competitors, offering extensive reporting, or working in tandem with online auctions - but costs can run into thousands of pounds.” http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=733 _____ Christian Harris Editor/Publisher BIOS (http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk) _____

Coolermaster Aquagate Mini R80 Watercooling CPU Heatsink Review

Coolermaster Aquagate Mini R80 Watercooling CPU Heatsink Review "The Coolermaster Aquagate Mini R80 is a self contained watercooling system designed for a broad range of Intel and AMD processors. Unlike a lot of CPU watercooling systems which can be complicated to install, fill, bleed and monitor, the Aquagate comes pre-plumbed and pre-filled with an ethylene glycol based coolant. The system is guaranteed for two years operation without need for refill, so to get started all you need to do is mount the CPU block and attach the heat exchanger to the side of the computer case."
