RingtoneFeeder reinvents ringtones for the iPhone - Published on 04/29/08 RingtoneFeeder is a new and innovative service that offers weekly automated delivery of original ringtones exclusively produced and optimized to sound great on the iPhone. Once the ringtone has been synced via iTunes it is instantly available on the iPhone. Nashville, Tennessee - RingtoneFeeder is a new and innovative approach to ringtones offering a subscription model which automatically installs a new original ringtone on the iPhone via iTunes every week. The earlier a subscription to the service is made the bigger collection the subscriber will have. When a ringtone has been released it will not appear in the weekly updates ever again. Once the ringtone has been synced via iTunes it is instantly available on the iPhone. The subscriber can keep all ringtones received permanently during the active subscription period even if the service is cancelled later on. Using Smart Playlists in iTunes the user can manage the number of simultaneous ringtones to be synced to the iPhone automatically, however, the basic concept is simply to get a fresh new ringtone every week - just like getting an episode of a favorite podcast or TV show. "We are really exited about this new concept and we are confident that the ringtones we are producing will make a positive difference for the millions of iPhone users out there. Unlike traditional ringtones which are often made from extracts of songs or existing sounds, we are producing short songs that are made to be ringtones, they are unique, sometimes even topical and optimized specifically for the iPhones." said Geoff Smith, Partner and Producer at RingtoneFeeder.com "We hope to be able to make the sound of your ringtones more pleasant, maybe even put a smile on someone's face when the iPhone starts ringing." Beside writing the lyrics and producing the original tones, RingtoneFeeder has spent considerable time identifying not only specific instruments but also testing each and every ringtone production to make sure that the tones are within a well defined sound spectrum ensuring the ringtones sounds great when the iPhone is ringing. RingtoneFeeder is currently offering two different subscription options. The monthly subscription cost is $1.98 or you can opt for a full year at $19.98 which both includes instant access to the 5 most recently produced ringtones along with at least one new ringtone usually released every Tuesday and a video tutorial about using RingtoneFeeder services, managing ringtones via Start Playlists in iTunes and syncing with the iPhone. There is also a free demo feed available so the service can be tried out with no obligations. The free feed contains a few sample ringtones as well as an introduction video and a PDF guide to managing ringtones via iTunes. Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (News) - Exclusive MSI Wind notebook photos here QUOTE: "Over the past month or so MSI’s Wind notebook has been widely documented over the web but until down specific details and photos have been hard to come by. U100 will be MSI’s first major fighter against Eee and in an exclusive internal document seen by TweakTown, it claims 6 out of 9 design specification wins against the 7” Eee PC. Shipping in mid to late May, the U100 ships with your choice of Windows XP or Linux and will get its power from an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor based on a motherboard using the 945GMS + ICH7M chipsets. It supports up to 2GB of DDR2 667 memory and includes an 80GB 2.5” SATA hard drive. It sports a 10” WSVGA LCD with a wide screen resolution of 1024 x 600 which MSI claims is going to be much better for web surfing compared to Eee. MSI makes notable mention of the 12” wide keyboard which should be much easier to work with compared to smaller keyboards – each letter key measures 17.5mm wide and the touch pad is 54mm wide." Futuremark 3DMark Vantage - The Gamers New Benchmark 3DMark Vantage is a gaming performance benchmark that is used to measure native DirectX 10 and multi-core CPU performance with large amounts of physics, AI and graphics on PC's running Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 1. 3DMark Vantage shows the user where their gaming system performs at its peak or doesn't have the horsepower, and how to get the most performance possible out of their hardware for today's and tomorrow's games. Legit Reviews takes a look at this new benchmark armed with a ASUS PhysX P1, XFX GeForce 9800 GX2 and an ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 to see what the benchmark is all about. Quote: "With the ASUS PhysX card installed on the test system the CPU Test 2 score increased to 25.73 operations a second with seven gate pairs. This also boosted the CPU score and the overall 3DMark score as you can see from the image above. The CPU score alone went up by 2177 points or 21.4%. This won't impact rankings online as the AGEIA PPU must be switched off for the results to be approved as a default result. The ASUS PhysX P1 card retails $149 plus shipping, so it was nice to see the performance boost..." or "The Jane Nash test scene is hands down the toughest of the two game tests. The scene also features a Sapphire branded water craft, which means some marketing money exchanged hands for that. Everyone that got a chance to see this scene before the benchmark was released commented on the bouncing boobs of Jane, so what a better picture to end on..." Good day, We decided to put some marketing claims to the test and see what a Diamond HD3450 could do when game to DX10 gaming. Using videos, we show how things looks on a HD3450, and what neighborhood of framerates you can hope for with such a device. Here is the URL: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/diamond3450/ "X3 ran quite well. With texture and shader quality set to 'medium' (and no AA or AF) the game had no absolutely no problems at all. Framerates would generally ranged from the low 30's to the high '50s. This was at a resolution of 1280x1024. Of all the five games we looked at, X3 was the game that ran the smoothest. So, if space-trading, dog-fighting, Elite/Privateer-type games are your thing, you can get away with not spending over a $100 on a video card to fly a starship. Check out this video of the HD3450 in action..." Thanks for any links. Kevin S., Neoseeker.com

Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT Turbo Force Edition Video Card @ Viper Lair
news posted a topic in Upcoming News
8800 GT cards are a dime a dozen these days, but Gigabyte's latest does more than take a reference card and slap a sticker on it. "Gigabyte customized their Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT Turbo Force Edition by increasing the clock speeds of key areas on the card, but they did not stop there. Ultra Durable2 is a fab process they use to increase the durability and longevity of their products. Ultra Durable2 is featured on both their graphics hardware as well as their motherboards. Lower RDS (on) MOSFET Design, Ferrite core chokes, and Lower ESR Solid Capacitors are the three main components of their design. These components will create less wasted energy, lower power consumption and last longer." http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/video/giga/8800gt/ -

Hi, We’ve just posted our latest review and would love it if you linked it. TIA! “USB CopyNotify! (£67.99, monitors 10 PCs) plugs the data leak that takes place in most offices due to unauthorised usage of USB devices, such as phones, cameras and MP3 players. Flash drives are a particular threat because they are so small that they are easily carried into the office, plugged into a computer and used to copy confidential data without detection, thus making established data security measures vulnerable. While there is lots of software that takes care of data security and theft of confidential data, these products are probably too complicated and bloated for small companies with limited IT staff. USB CopyNotify! is simple to install and manage and doesn’t require network security policies, access and control policies, active directories or domain controllers. In other words, it’s aimed at the small-business user who is data security conscious but doesn’t have the time, money or expertise for sophisticated network management and control.” <http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=732>'>http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=732> http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=732 _____ Christian Harris Editor/Publisher BIOS (http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk) _____

Hello All, Futuremark has just officially unveiled the latest version of their 3DMark benchmark suite, 3DMark Vantage. Like PCMark Vantage which was released a few months ago, this latest version of 3DMark was designed for testing Windows Vista-based systems. This latest version of the 3DMark, however, is specifically bound to Windows Vista because it uses some advanced visual technologies that are only available with DirectX 10, which you may know isn't available on previous versions of Windows. We've put together a quick overview of 3DMark Vantage and its individual test and have it available for viewing right here: Article URL: http://www.hothardware.com/Articles/Futuremark_Unveils_3DMark_Vantage Main Site: http://www.hothardware.com/ As always, a link in your news sections would be much appreciated! Hi! We've taken the new version of 3DMark for a spin and tested it with a variety of cards. 'Few benchmarks have had such an impact amongst gamers as the 3DMark benchmarks from Futuremark. Whether it is to verify that you are getting the expected performance out of your system or to brag about how fast your system is, 3DMark has always been the benchmark to use. As the last version came out 2 years ago many gamers have been anxiously waiting for a new version that more accurately can test today’s cards and today it is finally here: 3DMark Vantage.' The new 3DMark Vantage software is finally available after several months of "leaked" screenshots and information flooding the forums. Now that 3DMark has moved to DirectX 10 what can you expect to find in this incredibly popular benchmarking software? We have an analysis of the tests include in the new application as well as quite a few screenshots! URL: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=552 Quote: "For those of you interested in the actual weighting of graphics and CPU tests as well as how the individual game tests and CPU tests all add up. One interesting note is that as we move up from Entry to Extreme the amount that Futuremark has weighted the CPU score decreases. This is an interesting side note in the current GPU/CPU debate as Futuremark seems to be saying that in lower end systems the CPU is much more important than in the extreme gaming PCs." Although Intel's processors and chipsets have long been embraced by PC enthusiasts, the company's motherboards have largely been ignored. Years ago, it was easy to see why. Intel motherboards didn't come with the tweaking and overclocking options that we crave, and that was understandable, since we never really expected Intel to endorse overclocking. However, times have changed, and so has Intel's tune. The firm now has several products targeted specifically at enthusiasts, including the new DX48BT2 "Bonetrail 2" motherboard that comes loaded with many of the features we'd expect from a modern, high-end mobo. Based on Intel's flagship X48 Express chipset, Bonetrail's second coming faces stiff competition from Taiwanese mobo makers with far more street cred in the enthusiast space—credibility that, for the likes of Asus, is well deserved. Asus one of the biggest players in the motherboard market, and it's been catering to enthusiasts for as long as I can remember. Asus has embraced the X48 Express, as well, most recently with its Rampage Formula motherboard. The Rampage Formula and DX48BT2 effectively target the same market, albeit with one DDR2 memory and the other with DDR3. For once, however, Intel is the underdog. Read on to see if the processor giant can beat Asus at its own game. http://techreport.com/articles.x/14598 Thanks, Geoff ---- Geoff Gasior The Tech Report http://techreport.com -- To unsubscribe from: TR-News, just follow this link:

Then during the 2nd pass thru the layout creation process, the contents of each layout are deleted and pasted again, resolving dependencies between layout objects and ScriptMaker scripts. * Layout XML Export - The XML code defining each FileMaker layout contains valuable information defining the contents of each layout. This information includes embedded layout graphics, fields, portals, object sizes, object positions, text font and style information. Having an electronic definition of each layout provides developers with the opportunity to post-process and re-purposes FileMaker layouts for other development projects. Clicking the Layout XML Export button GUI tab in FmPro Migrator, instantly exports all of the layouts XML code as individual files. * Allowing Duplicate Layouts During Batch Captures - FmPro Migrator Developer Edition now allows duplicate Layout names to be entered when performing the batch capture of layouts. During a typical multi-file migration project, it is likely that individual FileMaker files will contain layouts having the same name. These duplicate layouts can now be reviewed as a group within the Layouts tab and renamed appropriately by the developer. * Simplified Layout Creation - Layouts which are created via the batch mode processing are now created with only a body layout part. Layout part definitions are not stored within the layout XML code copied via the clipboard, therefore the definition and sizes of layout parts must be changed manually by the developer. It is quicker and easier to add new layout parts to existing layouts, instead of trying to remove unneeded parts which already contain exiting layout objects. This change was made within the QuicKeys and WinAutomation shortcuts embedded within FmPro Migrator Developer Edition. * Bug Fixes - Bug fixes with this release include: Fixes for Access table names containing spaces when migrating from Access to FileMaker, remapping objects when there are 0 ScriptMaker scripts, display of Relationship Predicate details fields, additional shortcut delays when pasting FileMaker layouts, and checking for the existence of the Edit Relationship dialog when adding relationships. Hello Everyone, Intel's Core 2 Quad Q9300 has some rather large shoes to fill. This newly shipping, relatively low-cost quad-core processor from Intel is a replacement for their long-standing price to performance champ, the Core 2 Quad Q6600. The Q6600 was the first quad-core in Intel's arsenal which was actually affordable, and even today, it remains one of the best values on the market. Not only is the Core 2 Quad Q6600 inexpensive for a quad-core CPU, but it is extremely overclockable and provides a significant amount of computing power for the dollar. Core 2 Quad Q6600's are still in high-demand - a trend which is likely to continue until they are no longer available. Like we said, rather large shoes to fill. Luckily, the Core 2 Quad Q9300 processor has some impressive new features under the hood along with a higher clock speed. Head on over to the site and check it out... Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted the x264 HD Benchmark Version 2.0. Quote - The x264 HD Benchmark is the "High Definition version" of the x264 Benchmark which has become a standard CPU benchmark for Tech ARP as well as many other hardware enthusiasts. The new x264 HD Benchmark ups the ante by using a new 720p24 high-definition video clip. Therefore, it will be a great test of the processor's ability to encode HD quality video streams. Give it a try and let us know how your processor fares! This major revision which adds script detection for Windows Vista with UAC enabled and it also allows the user to re-enable UAC (if that is what you REALLY, REALLY want to do) after the benchmark completes. Here's a quote from the article :- "Simply put, it is a reproducible measure of fast your machine can encode a short, HD-quality video clip into a high quality x264 video file. It's nice because everyone running it will use the same video clip and software. The video encoder (x264.exe) reports a fairly accurate internal benchmark (in frames per second) for each pass of the video encode and it also uses multi-core processors very efficiently." EarthDesk 4.2 Adds Screen Saver Option - Published on 04/28/08 EarthDesk replaces the static desktop with an image of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination, as well as real-time global cloud coverage, allowing users to track hurricanes and other weather systems on their Macintosh or Windows desktop. EarthDesk 4.2 adds an option to allow use as a screen saver only rather than strictly a desktop, and is fully compatible with both Leopard and Tiger. Incline Village, Nevada - Xeric Design, Ltd. is pleased to announce the release of EarthDesk 4.2, its award-winning, real-time dynamic desktop map, for Macintosh OS X. EarthDesk 4.2 adds an option to allow use as a screen saver only rather than strictly a desktop, and is fully compatible with Leopard (and Tiger). EarthDesk replaces the static desktop with an image of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination, as well as real-time global cloud coverage, allowing users to track hurricanes and other weather systems on their Macintosh or Windows desktop. The software operates silently in the background, keeping your desktop updated while you work. Unlike a screen saver, which only appears when your system is idle, EarthDesk's dynamic desktop is continuously displayed as your desktop background, although with this release it can optionally work as only a screen saver. New in version 4.2: * Added a screen saver only mode. * Fixed a bug that could cause the cloud server list to not update periodically. * Improved the communication between the EarthDesk prefpane and the rendering engine. EarthDesk is the only application of its kind to support accurate moonlight, multiple monitors and eleven different map projections, as well as political, enhanced satellite and natural views. Pricing and Availability: EarthDesk requires Mac OS X 10.4 or newer. Single user copies may be purchased online for $23.95 USD. Upgrades are available for $11.95 USD. For more information and to download an evaluation version, please visit the Xeric Design website. At Phoronix we have posted a new article. A link to this from your site's news section would be greatly appreciated. Title: Corsair Flash Voyager GT 16GB ( -at -) Phoronix Direct Link: http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=12286 Summary: "For years now Corsair has been on the forefront of leading flash drive innovations, which started with their Flash Voyager series but quickly expanded into their Flash Voyager GT, Flash Survivor GT, and Flash PadLock series. We've reviewed them all and Corsair has certainly had some talented engineers working on these products from the Flash Survivor GT that withstood being submerged into the bottom of a pool, being boiled in a pot of water, and beaten by a hammer to the Flash PadLock, which has a physical lock that will present the flash drive from being mounted unless the appropriate key sequence is entered. While they continue to face new competition -- primarily from OCZ Technology, which has many different innovative flash drives as well such as the Rally 2 Turbo, ATV Turbo, and Mega-Kart -- Corsair Memory continues to excel and release new flash products. Corsair's latest additions to their Flash Voyager GT family are 16GB and 32GB editions. At hand today we are looking at the Corsair Flash Voyager 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive."
