FmPro Migrator 4.03 incorporates a new graphical user interface for all aspects of the FileMaker conversion process. It is no longer necessary to have Perl installed on your computer or to run migration scripts or SQL scripts on the command line. Results from the Get Fieldsize migration step are automatically used to generate the Table Creation SQL code. Fremont, CA - .com Solutions Inc. has released FmPro Migrator 4.03 for MacOS X and Windows. FmPro Migrator 4.03 incorporates a new graphical user interface for all aspects of the FileMaker conversion process. It is no longer necessary to have Perl installed on your computer or to run migration scripts or SQL scripts on the command line. Results from the Get Fieldsize migration step are automatically used to generate the Table Creation SQL code, which no longer requires manually up[censored] the SQL code with column size info. FmPro Migrator is a stand-alone application which migrates FileMaker databases to MySQL, Oracle, Access, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2, OpenBase, PostgreSQL and FrontBase. SQL Server and Access databases can also be converted to FileMaker 7, 8, 9. FmPro Migrator Developer Edition includes all of the features of FmPro Migrator, but also includes a Table Consolidation feature which performs automated copying of Tables/Fields, Table Occurrences, Relationships, ScriptMaker scripts and Layouts between FileMaker 8, 8.5 and 9 database files on MacOS X and Windows. FmPro Migrator 4.03 new features include: * New Graphical Interface - The new graphical interface for all aspects of the migration process. It is no longer necessary to have Perl installed on your computer or to run migration scripts or SQL scripts on the command line to perform database migrations. Results from the Get Fieldsize migration step are automatically used to generate the Table Creation SQL code, which no longer requires manually editing the SQL code with column size info. * Automated Table Consolidation Feature - Developer Edition Feature - Table Consolidation projects are now implemented with an entirely new automated migration process. The Table Consolidation feature now includes the copying Tables/Fields, Table Occurrences, Relationships, Layouts and ScriptMaker scripts between FileMaker 8, 8.5 and 9 database files on MacOS X and Windows. A remapping feature remaps Table Occurrences within Layouts and ScriptMaker scripts when they are re-created in the consolidated database file. Layout text can also be changed with a search and replace feature when the layouts are copied. * FileMaker 7, 8, 9 Repeating Fields Support - Support has been added for migrating repeating fields within FileMaker 7, 8, 9 databases using auto-generated ScriptMaker data transformation scripts. This feature overcomes the lack of repeating fields support within new versions of the FileMaker ODBC driver. Repeating fields data can now be transferred to SQL databases and used with the new External SQL Sources feature incorporated within FileMaker 9. * Container Field Export Feature - The container field export feature supports the 22 container field data types available within FileMaker 7, 8, 9 database files including: EMBO, EMF+, EPS, FILE, FPix, FORK, GIFf, JPEG, JP2, META, METO, moov, PDF, PICT, PNGf, PNTG, qtif.SGI, snd, TIFF, TPIC, XMLO, 8BPS. * PostgreSQL BYTEA Columns Supported - PostgreSQL database migrations include support for writing FileMaker container field data into PostgreSQL BYTEA columns. Binary data within PostgreSQL BYTEA columns can easily be viewed and updated with graphical management tools like Navicat on MacOS X and Windows. * OpenBase Database Support - FileMaker databases can now be migrated to OpenBase tables. OpenBase migrations include support for transferring FileMaker container field data into OpenBase OBJECT columns. * Context Sensitive Help - Clicking a table name in the Migration Process window displays instructions and troubleshooting info which is specific to the type of migration currently being performed. Existing FmPro Migrator customers may upgrade to FmPro Migrator 4.03 at no charge. The single-user licensing includes a copy of FmPro Migrator for both MacOS X (Universal Binary) and Windows platforms. Palit has done a good job with the reference 9800GTX video card in that they have included a game bundle and their entry into the US is most welcome since the video card market needs more players bringing better competition to the retail market place for the video card dollar. Palit support needs to update their drivers as NVIDIA has released the 174.74 Forceware and the drivers on Palit’s website are based upon 169.32. The inclusion of the latest Tomb Raider game which was released last year is a somewhat good thing. I remember buying video cards and getting huge game bundles (20 games and demos for the Diamond Monster 3D card). I hope Palit gives a game with every card they sell as it adds value for the new buyer. Sure games get old fast, but the fact is its better to have a game bundle than not to have one. Hi all, We have just published an early look at *Gigabyte's P45-DS5 motherboard* - if you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/04/14/early_look_gigabyte_ga-p45-ds5/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/04/early_look_gigabyte_ga-p45-ds5/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"Gigabyte has done *a lot* to improve the P45's layout over its previous P35 board -- while we loved the DS3R, other products like the EP35-DS4 (pictured right, on the left of the two) had compatibility problems with the SATA ports. The P45-DS5 fixes this by making all the SATA ports at 90 degree angles to the edge of the board so they don't conflict with longer graphics cards. In addition to this there are now *ten* SATA ports -- four of which are from a Silicon Image chipset. While the RAID can't be combined with the new ICH10R southbridge, they all offer NCQ, ACHI and eSATA support. The Gigabyte branded JMicron chipset provides the IDE port which is still missing from ICH10, like it was from ICH9, and even though the IDE port is awkwardly placed right down the bottom of the board it shouldn't matter too much since there's oodles of SATA for optical drives. The DS5 shown here is DDR2 only and supports "up to 1,200MHz" according to Gigabyte. If the current P35 range is anything to go by, expect DDR3 and mixed DDR2/DDR3 boards to pop up as well. Even though Gigabyte says the overclocking of the P45 and P35 should be similar, clearly Gigabyte are tailored its P45-DS5 for some serious overclocking: it features six phases of CPU power regulation, two phases on the northbridge and two phases on the DDR2 memory slots. We also love the new on-board power, reset and clear CMOS buttons that are almost identical those used on the Asus Republic of Gamer series motherboards."/ * *Cheers guys! Hello Webmasters and News Posters, NEW CONTENT (Mobile) - Entering the Notebook World in 2008 QUOTE: "It’s not the first time I’ve entered the wonderful world of notebooks, but recently I’ve found myself getting a bit tired of sitting in front of the same desk in the same room so many hours a day. I thought that it was finally time to take the plunge and get back into the wonderful world that is notebooks. There are three kinds of notebook users; those that get their notebook through work for business purposes, those that buy it themselves and say that they’re going to use it all the time, but actually don’t, and then of course the group of people who buy it and actually do use it. I hope to find myself in the latter; previously I was in the second group and found my notebook being used as a door stop more than anything else." Title: ECS A780GM-A v1.0 ( -at -) Phoronix Direct Link: http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=12199 Summary: "Last month we had looked at the Radeon HD 3200, which is part of the AMD 780G Chipset. In that Linux-based review we had found the performance to be admirable for being an integrated graphics processor (IGP) and it was quickly supported by the proprietary fglrx driver, aside from AMD not yet introducing the CrossFire/Hybrid Graphics Linux support. To deliver those Radeon HD 3200 benchmarks we had used the ECS A780GM-A Black and today we're publishing our full run-down on this AMD 780G motherboard that's paired with the AMD SB700 Southbridge. The A780GM-A boasts support for AMD Phenom processors, DDR2-1066 memory, PCI Express 2.0, and an HDMI port in addition to one VGA output." Hi, We've just posted our latest review and would love it if you linked it. TIA! "Lenovo faced a great challenge when designing the ThinkPad X300. It had to make things really small without losing key capabilities, such as performance, battery life, quality, reliability and functionality. With thanks to Intel's ever-shrinking Centrino platform Lenovo has created a laptop that is amazingly thin and light, but still looks great, is built like a tank, and offers plenty of configuration options. As far as we're concerned the ThinkPad X300 is the best ultra-portable laptop you can currently buy." http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk/rev.php?id=727 _____ Christian Harris Editor/Publisher BIOS (http://www.biosmagazine.co.uk) _____

Hi all, We have just published our analysis of what was said during Nvidia's Financial Analyst's Day in an article titled *Nvidia Analyst's Day: Biting Back at Intel* - if you could post a link on your site that would be very much appreciated. *Link:* http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/04/14/nvidia_analyst_day_-_biting_back_at_intel/1 *Picture:* http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/04/nvidia_analyst_day_-_biting_back_at_intel/fp_img.jpg *Quote: */"Gelsinger believes that the industry needs a programmable, ubiquitous and unified architecture... like Larrabee. This is of course convenient, but he seems to forget that we've had very programmable and unified architectures ever since the launch of the GeForce 8800 GTX in November 2006. DirectX 10 was an inflection point for graphics cards, because it is the first time that shader units have become fully generalised processing 'cores'. Although it's worth remembering that they're not quite as flexible as a CPU core in their current design. "/ /Here's somebody who's new to our industry and he's basically telling us that 3D graphics as we know it is dead," said Huang. "//This is the most inspirational quote I can imagine giving to our employees. Nothing fires us up more than that. I'm sure that's what he intended -- getting the most intensively competitive company in technology fired up. We're pretty fired up anyway, as we're pretty passionate about what we do. The fact that the statement is just plain wrong means it's pointless to argue about it." It could be said that even Andrew Chien, Intel's Director of Research, agrees to an extent with Huang's assessment of Gelsinger's sensational statement, although to say that he agrees completely would be a bit of a stretch. Chien believes that ray tracing will not make an immediate transition into graphics engines -- instead, it'll gradually be introduced for certain effects. "/ /We expect [ray tracing] to first penetrate areas where the additional flexibility is of benefit to developers. If the image quality benefits are there, but performance isn't acceptable, developers aren't going to use it," he said during an interview at IDF Shanghai." /* *Cheers guys! Today we look at the HIS HD 3870 IceQ 3 Turbo. SNIP: Since AMD bought ATI they have struggled to compete with NVIDIA for the performance crown. Instead they have chosen a different strategy by releasing GPU’s that while still fast mainly compete by offering an excellent performance and features for a low price. The HD3870 GPU is no exception and today we are testing HIS interesting HIS HD 3870 IceQ 3 Turbo. As the name implies the HIS HD 3870 IceQ 3 Turbo comes with HIS tested IceQ 3 cooler promising to keep the card cool and running quiet. The “Turbo” in its name means that it is overclocked right out of the factory. http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1261 A post on your site would be great if you can. Typinator 3.0 now dockless: almost invisible, but always ready for use - Published on 04/14/08 Ergonis Software today released Typinator 3.0, the latest version of its highly acclaimed tool for auto-typing text and auto-correcting typos system-wide across all Mac OS X applications. With the new version, Typinator is a dockless background-only application that is acting unobtrusively in the background. A new search feature lets you instantly view only snippets that contain a specified search string. Hagenberg, Austria - Ergonis Software today announced the release of Typinator 3.0, the latest version of its highly acclaimed tool for auto-typing text and auto-correcting typos system-wide across all Mac OS X applications. With the new version, Typinator is no longer a regular application visible in the dock and the application switcher, but rather a dockless background-only application that is acting unobtrusively in the background. A small icon in the menu bar gives quick access to Typinator's main window. A new search feature lets you instantly view only snippets that contain a specified search string. Particularly users with many snippets will love this feature. Typinator 3.0 also adds a number of further improvements. Visit Ergonis Software's website to learn more about all changes in the release and to download and try the new version. "When we initially designed Typinator, we decided to make it a regular application, not a System Preference Pane, since this gives a wider scope for a comfortable user interface, and it seems that our customers like the resulting flexibility. However, it turned out that many users do not want to see Typinator as a regular application visible in the dock and the application switcher," said Christoph Reichenberger, founder and CEO of Ergonis Software. "I am therefore more than happy to announce that Typinator 3.0 offers the best of both worlds. Typinator is now an invisible background application that is visible only in form of a menu status item. However, when you need to access Typinator's functionality, it instantly opens up a full-fledged application window with no limitations in size, functionality, and comfort". Typinator is a powerful, yet elegantly simple solution that works across all applications to detect specific sequences of typed characters and automatically replace them with text snippets, graphics, URLs, dates and special characters. For business users, Typinator leads to a layer of operational consistency and productivity across heterogeneous applications. A standard customer service response, a signature image on an email, a clause in a contract - each of these can be inserted in any application with just a couple of keystrokes. For technical users, Typinator automates typing of code and the implementation of documentation standards. Availability and Pricing: Typinator can be purchased securely on the Ergonis Software website. The upgrade to Typinator 3.0 is free for anyone who purchased Typinator in the last 2 years. For information about purchases, including enterprise licenses, volume discounts, and upgrade pricing offers, visit their website. Instead of purchasing Typinator by itself, customers can get the Macility Productivity Bundle that also contains two of the company's other productivity tools, PopChar X and KeyCue. The pricing of the Productivity Bundle represents a saving of more than 35% over the separate purchase of its components. More information about the Productivity Bundle can be found at the Ergonis Software web site. Typinator 3.0 requires Mac OS X version 10.4 or newer. It is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). An Online press kit, including screenshots, is available on the Ergonis Software web site. The company is known for its "think of everything" packaging and subtle stylishness of its products. ThermalTake provided ThinkComputers with a 650W version of its new ToughPower QFan line of power supply units. We expected this power supply to sputter when connected to our enthusiast-level gaming rig-the results of our testing are in the review." -

AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition review http://www.techspot.com/review/93-amd-phenom-9850-black-edition/ In terms of performance, AMD has stated that the new B3 processors will be no faster than the original Phenom X4 CPUs without the TLB erratum fix enabled on a clock-for-clock basis. Therefore the Phenom X4 9600 and the new Phenom X4 9650, for example, should be no different in terms of performance. Just as well that should mean that today's flagship Phenom, the X4 9850, should sit somewhere between the Phenom 9700 and 9900 processors that we reviewed earlier this year. It will be interesting to see how the 9850 stacks up against the rest of the Phenom family and of course, Intel's Q6600.

Title: Cooler Master Cosmos S Case Review ( -at -) HardwareLogic Quote: "Inspired by race cars (per Coolermaster's press release) this newest incarnation of the Cosmos is designated by it's S moniker, or Sport edition. Perhaps they mean sport racing with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, as the sleek and defined look of the Cosmos S sure enough wouldn't mix well with the drunken crowds and painted up racing billboads of Nascar. Regardless, the polished and aggressive new face is exciting in itself, and we out to see how this new thoroughbred competes with it's more modest and silent sibling, the Cosmos 1000 <http://hardwarelogic.com/news/135/ARTICLE/1796/2007-12-10.html> which we reviewed back in December." Title: Terratec 2400 Dual TV tuner Review ( -at -) XtremeComputing Quote: "Today I will be looking at a product from a manufacturer that I personally don’t know a great deal about, you however maybe more familiar with the name of TerraTec. The product I will be reviewing is a digital tv card the Cinergy 2400i DT. This is a dual digital tuner card, nothing special there you may think BUT this card uses a pci express x1 slot which is refreshing as, in my honest opinion, most manufacturers overlook this expansion slot."
