Hello LanOC Affiliates and newsletter subscribers, here is our newest posting. We would appreciate you spreading the word! LanOC Reviews has released a new article which you and your readers might enjoy. We would be grateful if you would please share it with them. *TITLE:* Patriot Viper V370 and V361 Headsets ( -at -) LanOC Reviews <https://lanoc.org/review/audio/7548-patriot-viper-v370-and-v361-headsets> *DESCRIPTION:* When it comes to headsets, I’m typically in the $70 range when suggesting or looking for anything. We rarely get anything cheaper in both because a lot of the big names don’t even try to compete at low price points and because what you do find is normally not very exciting. Well a while back Patriot reached out to me about checking out two of their new headsets and I signed up. They sent over the Viper V370 and the Viper V361. I wasn’t really sure what to expect other than more budget friendly headsets. Well, they came in, I got busy and I’m just now getting around to talking about them so let’s see what is different about them, test them out, then talk a little about where they fit in the market. *ARTICLE URL:* https://lanoc.org/review/audio/7548-patriot-viper-v370-and-v361-headsets *LARGE IMAGE URL:* https://lanoc.org/images/reviews/2017/patriot_v370_and_v361/title.jpg *SMALL IMAGE URL:* https://lanoc.org/images/reviews/2017/patriot_v370_and_v361/email.jpg Thank you for your help Our content is syndicated by *RSS* 2.0 at: http://lanoc.org/review?fo rmat=feed&type=atom Check out our *YouTube* Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/LanocReviews Follow us on *Twitter*: http://www.twitter.com/LanOC_Reviews Join our group on *Facebook*: http://www.facebook.com/LanOCReviews Join our *Steam* Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/lanoc *If this message has been sent to an incorrect address, or you no longer wish to receive our news, please email us back and let us know at reviews ( -at -) lanoc.org* ---------------------------------------- Wes Compton Editor-in-Chief LanOC Reviews http://lanoc.org ( -at -) LanOC_Reviews <http://twitter.com/#!/LanOC_Reviews> Google Plus <https://plus.google.com/u/1/b/111054267662763089650/> Our Facebook Page <http://www.facebook.com/LanOCReviews>

** Synology DS916+ NAS ------------------------------------------------------------ ** PC Review take a look at the Synology DS916+, a mid range NAS packed full of powerful features - such as the ability to run Docker instances: ------------------------------------------------------------ "The Synology DS916+ is a mid-range NAS, aimed at small businesses or home users requiring more power than most consumer grade units. The quad core 64-bit Intel Pentium N3710 and options of 2/8GB RAM suggest that this is more than a traditional file server NAS. This choice of CPU allows for AES-NI encryption acceleration (an otherwise CPU intensive task), along with the power to transcode video if you’re using this as a media server (H.264 and H.265 acceleration). There are 4 drive bays which support 3.5/2.5†drives (both HDD and SSD), resulting in a max. storage capacity of 40TB." This year they are giving the tempered glass treatment to many of the models in the series. Today we are going to be checking out the tempered glass version of the Evolv Micro-ATX case. This is the successor to the first ever Evolv case and combines 3mm aluminum with dual tempered glass side panels. This case has already proven to be one of the best out there and adding tempered glass panels is going to make it even better. Phanteks has also added RGB LEDs to the front of the case and around the power button, which you can sync with your motherboard software. Let’s take a closer look at all this tempered glass and see if the Enthoo Evolv remains to be one of the best choices for Micro-ATX system builders." -

Marco reminds readers to complete the survey rating the GNOME extensions that Ubuntu should include by default, before writing about theming for Ubuntu 17.10. Marco reminds us that bugs are hard to fix if they aren't reported, providing links if you'd like to help test 17.10, or use GNOME Shell on 17.04. Details are provided for reporting bugs with themes, before inviting readers who are so inclined, to help with the theming of Ubuntu. Finally Marco thanks Jeremy Bicha for help with the post. http://blog.3v1n0.net/informatica/linux/ubuntu-goes-gnome-theming-stays-test-and-tune-it/ === Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre: An overview of UEFI Secure Boot on Ubuntu === Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre informs us that Ubuntu supports UEFI booting and Secure Boot, then tells us how Secure Boot works. Raising from the darkness thanks to UBPorts! === Marcos Costales tell us that Mapzen has moved to a paid API which is a big issue for uNav (a map viewer and GPS navigator on Ubuntu Phone). This resulted in a change more limited OSRM, but thanks to the UBPorts community, the costs of using Mapzen has been paid, so Mapzen navigation has returned. Marcos thanks UBPorts, and reminds users to switch to the Ubuntu Phone OpenStore, and to UBPorts too. http://thinkonbytes.blogspot.com/2017/05/unav-powered-by-mapzen-raising-from.html === Oliver Grawert: Building u-boot Gadget Snap packages from source === Oliver Grawert writes about the process of getting the Ubuntu Core system snapped and gives details on how you can do it yourself (with the source for the snapcraft.yaml files included). https://ograblog.wordpress.com/2017/05/30/building-u-boot-gadget-snap-packages-from-source/ === Marco Trevisan (Trevino): GNOME Hackfest for Fractional Scaling === Marco Trevino writes that HiDPI display support has been in Unity since 14.04, including the ability to scale at fractional values where GTK3 and GNOME Shell support integer scaling. Marco briefly mentions some approaches taken with Unity before switching to GNOME and the work underway now to ensure good results. Marco tells us of a GNOME Hackfest hosted by Canonical in its Taipei office to continue the work. http://blog.3v1n0.net/informatica/linux/gnome-hackfest-for-fractional-scaling/ === Simon Quigley: LXQt, Debian, LinuxFest Northwest, and much more! === Simon Quigley informs us of free software activities over the last couple of months. This includes release management of Lubuntu 17.04, where Simon thanks contributors for their hard work. Simon also shows Lenny Zapus (Lubuntu 17.04's release mascot), with thanks to Rafael Laguna. Next, Simon talks about a team meeting, decisions made and letting readers know how they can give feedback. LXQt is covered as well, with details (and a disclaimer) for adventurous users who would like to help test it. He wraps up the blog post by writing about his involvement in Debian recently, and about his trip to LinuxFest Northwest. He would like to thank Ubuntu for sponsoring his travel expenses. https://www.tsimonq2.net/blog/2017/05/31/ === Nathan Haines: We're looking for Ubuntu 17.10 wallpapers right now! === Nathan Haines reminds us that wallpapers in each release of Ubuntu are a way to celebrate the larger Free Culture movement through expression. Ubuntu 17.10 will be no different, and needs ten (10) photos and two (2) illustrations ready to be shared with the greater community before July 3, 2017. That means, you guessed it, WSL "apps" such as Ubuntu, openSUSE or Fedora won't be available for Windows 10 S. * We discuss the news: * Father Of Android Launches "Essential Phone" * Andreas Gal, former Mozilla CTO and head of Firefox OS, says Chrome Won in reply to Eric Petit's Browse Against the Machine blog post. * CVE-2017-1000367 in Sudo's get_process_ttyname() for Linux * We discuss the community news: * build.snapcraft.io gets your code ready to distribute in minutes * Up[censored] Logitech Hardware on Linux * Ubuntu goes GNOME, theming stays. Let's test (and tune) it! * We mention an event: * 15th Egham Raspberry Jam: Sunday 23rd of July 2017 - Staines-upon-Thames, England. * Running a number of workshops including graphics and physical computing using Scratch." http://ubuntupodcast.org/2017/06/01/s10e13-grieving-temporary-ear/ == Weekly Ubuntu Development Team Meetings == * Kernel Team - Marco reminds readers to complete the survey rating the GNOME extensions that Ubuntu should include by default, before writing about theming for Ubuntu 17.10. This is a detailed post providing an overview, details on the Shim layer (including why the signature), reboot policy, grub2 and kernel security & shim validation. http://blog.cyphermox.net/2017/05/an-overview-of-uefi-secure-boot-on.html === Andres Rodriguez: MAAS 2.2.0 Released ! === Andres Rodriguez is happy to announce MAAS 2.2.0, listing its exciting new features. A link to release notes is provided, with a note that MAAS 2.2 will replace 2.1 which will soon be no longer supported. MAAS 2.2 will also be backported to Ubuntu Xenial. http://www.roaksoax.com/2017/05/maas-2-2-0-released === Michael Hall: Leaving Canonical for Endless new possibilities === After working for Canonical for over six years, Michael Hall tells us that he is leaving the company. Michael reminisces on those years, listing many people whom he owes thanks. Michael tells us he won't be completely leaving the community, his reasoning and where is going. http://mhall119.com/2017/05/endless-possibilities/ === Marcos Costales: uNav powered by Mapzen! Links on how to submit are provided, as well as a link for more information on the Free Culture Showcase. http://nhaines.livejournal.com/72189.html == Canonical News == * Hacking Through Machine Learning at the OpenPOWER Developer Congress - https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/05/23/hacking-through-machine-learning-at-the-openpower-developer-congress/ * Redefining the Developer Event - https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/05/24/redefining-the-developer-event/ * Ubuntu Desktop: Weekly Newsletter 26th May 2017 - https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-desktop/2017-May/004965.html * Build.snapcraft.io gets your code ready to distribute in minutes - https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/05/30/build-snapcraft-io-gets-your-code-ready-to-distribute-in-minutes/ * Canonical Design Team: Our open source websites - https://design.canonical.com/2017/05/our-open-source-websites/ * The Turtlebot 3 has launched - https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/05/31/the-turtlebot-3-has-launched/ * Launchpad News, May 2017 - http://blog.launchpad.net/general/launchpad-news-may-2017 * Canonical Design Team: May's reading list - https://design.canonical.com/2017/06/mays-reading-list-2/ * Customizing MAAS installs - https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/06/02/customising-maas-installs/ * Kubernetes webinar series - https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/06/02/kubernetes-webinar-series/ == In The Press == === Why Ubuntu is good for robots === Richard Wilson from Electronics Weekly writes about the ever increasing use of robots in our everyday lives and the role of Ubuntu as a software platform in running them. he Best GPU For Ethereum Mining – NVIDIA and AMD Tested @ Legit Reviews
news posted a topic in Upcoming News
We’ve never done an article on GPU mining on Legit Reviews before, but continued interest in the ethereum project has caused Ether (the name of the cryptocurrency that runs on the ethereum blockchain app) to skyrocket in price by more than 2,800% this year alone. On Sunday, ethereum traded at an all-time high of $250.41, according to data from industry website CoinDesk. With increases and coin prices like that it has spiked the demand for discrete graphics cards in order to do GPU mining. We test over a dozen graphics card to see which has the best hashrate and talk about some of the other things you need to consider like price and power consumption.
