View this email in your browser (http://mailchi.mp/hothardware/amd-radeon-rx-580-and-rx-570-mainstream-gpu-reviews-high-performance-polaris?e=0c004f9c13) In preparation for the impending launch of AMD's next-generation Vega GPU architecture, which will eventually reside at the top of the company's graphics product stack, AMD is refreshing its mainstream graphics card line-up with some more-powerful Polaris-based offerings. In time, the new Radeon RX 580, RX 570, RX 560, and RX 550 cards launching today will supplant all of the current-generation Radeon RX 400-series cards, though these new cards are not radically different from their predecessors. Their clocks, shader counts, and memory configurations have been tweaked, but they’re still based on the same Polaris architecture and offer similar feature sets. We’ve got the two premium cards in the lineup on hand for testing: the Radeon RX 580 and Radeon RX 570. In particular, we have the MSI Radeon RX 580 and RX 570 Gaming X in-house, both of which are customized and factory overclocked... 3. A news post would be great. OCC has published a review on the PowerColor Radeon Red Devil RX 580 8GB Golden Sample Here is a quote from the review: Quote: â€ÂCooling performance is going to be something you do not need to worry about with this new addition to the Red Devil family. A massive five heat pipe cooler easily handles the thermal load from the all-digital VRM, Ellesmere core, and 8GB of GDDR5 memory without missing a beat. Compared to last year's cooling solution, this beast of a cooler has it beat hands down. It is more compact, leading to a smaller overall footprint of the RX 580 8GB Golden Sample. By using a pair of 100mm ball bearing fans, the airflow is available to push through the heat sink without a lot of noise generated. In a less graphically intense game, the fans may not even spool up, thanks to the overall efficiency of the heat sink package. Smaller, quieter, and more efficient was the right choice by PowerColor.†Title: PowerColor Radeon Red Devil RX 580 8GB Golden Sample Review Link: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/powercolor_radeon_red_devil_rx580_8gb_golden_sample/ Img: http://www.overclockersclub.com/siteimages/articles/powercolor_radeon_red_devil_rx580_8gb_golden_sample/3_thumb.jpg

They launched their RX 400 series of cards last June and the excitement and hype has hardly slowed down in AMD groups. Now that Ryzen 7 and 5 are both out and with rumors of Vega starting to pick up AMD decided to slip in the 500 Series launch. This might be one of the worst kept secrets with cards being sold worldwide for the past week or two but today is the day we finally dive into it all officially. For the launch, AMD sent over the latest Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 in an 8GB Limited Edition version. So today I’m going to run through what the 500 Series is all about and then I’m going to test the Sapphire card and see how it compares. For even more fun I dug out the RX480 Nitro+ that dominated our RX480 charts to see how the new card compares to its year older brother. *ARTICLE URL:* https://lanoc.org/review/video-cards/7495-sapphire-nitro-rx580-8gb-le *LARGE IMAGE URL:* https://lanoc.org/images/reviews/2017/sapphire_rx580_nitro_le/title.jpg *SMALL IMAGE URL:* https://lanoc.org/images/reviews/2017/sapphire_rx580_nitro_le/email.jpg Thank you for your help Our content is syndicated by *RSS* 2.0 at: http://lanoc.org/review?fo rmat=feed&type=atom Check out our *YouTube* Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/LanocReviews Follow us on *Twitter*: http://www.twitter.com/LanOC_Reviews Join our group on *Facebook*: http://www.facebook.com/LanOCReviews Join our *Steam* Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/lanoc *If this message has been sent to an incorrect address, or you no longer wish to receive our news, please email us back and let us know at reviews ( -at -) lanoc.org* ---------------------------------------- Wes Compton Editor-in-Chief LanOC Reviews http://lanoc.org ( -at -) LanOC_Reviews <http://twitter.com/#!/LanOC_Reviews> Google Plus <https://plus.google.com/u/1/b/111054267662763089650/> Our Facebook Page <http://www.facebook.com/LanOCReviews>

  6. Just under a year has passed since AMD released its Radeon RX 400-series graphics cards, and now the company is back with an improved 14-nm process at its disposal and a new series of Polaris GPUs fabricated on the new tech. We put a couple Radeon RX 500-series cards to the test to see what a clock bump buys the Polaris architecture. While it worked pretty well it was not exactly high enough, and I could not adjust it up or down. This eventually led me to get a tall stool which I ended up sitting on more often than actually standing. So when Autonomous asked me if I wanted to check out their Smart Desk 2 I was quite excited. Autonomous says the Smart Desk 2 is the most affordable high-quality standing desk, period. Prices start at a very modest $299 for the base model and go up from there. Can the Smart Desk 2 become my new favorite desk or will I go back to the one I was using? Read on as we find out!"

We have updated the schedules of two tools related to testing migrations: * Britney will now do migration from unstable to testing 4 times a day with 6 hour intervals (matching the number of "dinstalls"). - The ageing (still) occurs for the 22:00 UTC run as it did previously, which means the bulk of all migrations will still occur at that point. - Auto-removal hints are added once every day, just before the 10:00 UTC run - The other runs can cause changes in testing due to changes in the last 6 hours: - Changes to RC bugs - hints by the release team - build for certain architectures being uploaded (or binNMUs) - binary removals from unstable * Britney now updates the "excuses" hourly. These excuses show if packages will be candidates for migration to testing in the next Britney run. Please note that many consumers (e.g. tracker.debian.org/packages.qa.debian.org) only poll release.debian.org at a much lower frequency (~4 times a day). - For now, please use "grep-excuses" from devscripts to see the current status. * Effective on the 2017-04-18, we will shift the time of the migration emails by 12 hours. - This means you will see the emails appearing at about 04:39 UTC rather than 16:39 UTC starting on the 18th of April. - The timing is to align the mails with the changes done by the 22:00 UTC Britney run (of the preceding day) being committed. Short about the rationale for these changes: ============================================ Britney: =-=-=-=- We hope that the hourly excuse updates means that it will be easier for contributors to accurately and quickly assess the migration status of their packages. There is no reason why you should have to wait 12 hours to learn that Britney was notified of a regression or that the release team has applied a policy exception hint. Migration mails: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Many contributors rely on the email notifications to determine when a package as migrated. These contributors generally experience a 12 hour delay between the migration of their packages (have been committed) and them actually receiving the notification. By moving the emails to 04:39 UTC, this delay is shorten to the minimum possible for the majority of all migrations. We did consider running the mail migration script more than once per calendar day. However, due to some implementation details in these scripts, we are not quite confident that it would work out as we would like it to. They are not generally systems you would want to carry around with you all day. But the MSI WS63 7RK bucks this trend. It’s under 2cm thick and under 2kg in weight. Yet inside is a quad-core processor, professional NVIDIA Quadro graphics, and two storage devices. It has a 5.7-inch display as well as a secondary display and capacitive navigation buttons. When combined with large bezels and a huge chin, the U Ultra can be an unwieldy device. But that's not all, something with HTC's latest flagship has really gone wrong. Thank you. 21. Dear developers, First, I'd like to congratulate Chris on his election. I am sure Chris will be a great DPL and will have full support from our community! Serving as DPL for the past year has been a real honour and a fantastic experience for me. It also helped me to have a different perspective on the project and my future involvement. Last but not least, I wanted to confirm to other fellow Debian Developers that serving as DPL is not a traumatic experience and I am still as sane as I was one year ago :-) If you have ideas on how to make Debian a better place, project, OS, community, FOSS citizen, … please nominate yourself for DPL elections next year! Worst case scenario, you would contribute to the debate about Debian's future. Take the Open Source Survey =========================== As a member of the Debian community, you are invited to participate in a survey about how people use and think about open source software. Whether you're a long-time maintainer, a new contributor, or an interested browser, we want to hear from you. This survey will take 10-15 minutes. All questions are optional. Your anonymous answers will be released as part of an open data set that is freely available to researchers and members of the community to better understand the people who use and create open source technologies. No personally identifiable information will be solicited, and will remove any that is provided before publicly releasing the data. Please take 10-15 minutes to share your perspective by April 28. https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3150898/Debian Thank you for your time and input. If you have any questions or feedback please email opensource ( -at -) github.com. For more information or to subscribe to updates, visit http://opensourcesurvey.org/. DebConf17 ========= I have approved DebConf17 budget [1,2] after a few iterations. The DebConf17 team did a sterling job and I am sure we will have a fun and productive conference (as always). Kudos to all those who contributed to the organization of this edition! And I am sure they still accept new volunteers :-) [1] https://lists.debconf.org/lurker/message/20170414.121052.bb458c81.en.html [2] https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/debconf-data/dc17.git/tree/budget?h=DC17_budget_approval_1 Registration is open since a few days [3] and, as a reminder, they also issued a call for proposals [4]. If you want to give a talk at DebConf17, please submit your ideas! Congrats David! I am sure your contribution to the team will be greatly appreciated. [5] https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2017/04/msg00005.html DPL's web-space =============== Thanks to the awesome DSA, DPL has now a web-space [6]. The intent is not to make yet another webpage (I believe the wiki page is enough) but to collect files published by DPL (talk slides, agreements, etc…) over the years in a single location. I invite future DPLs to maintain this web-space and make it a reference for materials shared by DPLs. Fow now, it only contains slides [7]. I've documented how to update this web-space in [8]. 24. Package : openoffice.org-dictionaries Version : 3.3.0~rc10-4+deb7u1 Debian Bug : #646693 The dictionaries provided by this package had an unversioned conflict against the thunderbird package (which so far was not part of wheezy). Since the next update of Icedove introduces a thunderbird package the dictionaries would become unusable in Icedove so the (unneeded) conflict was dropped. For Debian 7 "Wheezy", this problem has been fixed in version 3.3.0~rc10-4+deb7u1. We recommend that you upgrade your openoffice.org-dictionaries packages.
