  1. Siegen, Germany - August 29th, 2012. Instead of storing all data at expensive primary storage PoINT Storage Manager migrates in a policy-based manner inactive data to secondary storage. This considerably decreases data volume and reduces time and personnel effort for the daily backup. At the same time investments in storage extensions can be avoided. According to the Digital-Universe survey of IDC published end of 2012 the data volume in Western Europe doubles all two and a half years. Due to this continuous data growth alternative storage solutions are indispensable. Furthermore data and the corresponding information becomes more important as companies can learn e.g. more about the customer behavior. Additionally enterprises are confronted with complicated and strict compliance regulations. Therefore archiving and backup strategies have to be covered by any company security concept. For keeping the backup volume of data stored on the primary storage as low as possible advanced methods - besides the already used functions like de-duplication for identifying and eliminating data redundancies –are necessary. One of these methods is the migration of inactive data to cost-efficient secondary storage. By PoINT Storage Manager this is carried out according to pre-defined policies, whereby data can still be accessed transparently. As from experience only about 20% of the total data volume is used actively, the time and personnel effort for the daily backup can be reduced to a fraction. Thus not only the backup-process can be accelerated, but also recovery time can be shortened by PoINT Storage Manager. In addition PoINT Storage Manager reduces costs as primary storage extensions are minimized and the extent of required backup licenses respectively capacities can be decreased. About PoINT: PoINT Software & Systems GmbH is specialized in the development of software products and systems solutions for storage and management of data using all available mass storage technologies like hard disks, magnetic tapes and optical media. Close collaboration with leading hardware manufacturers enables an early support of innovative storage technologies. 2. Cambridge, UK, 21st October 2014 - CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), creator of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces that China Mobile has expanded its deployment of CCS’ technology with a new installation in its Fujian Mobile branch. In February this year, China Mobile – the world’s largest mobile operator – began implementing CCS’ backhaul system to deliver enhanced coverage and capacity in a busy urban environment of Beijing, in one of its first outdoor deployments of 4G LTE-TDD small cells. Now the operator is rolling out the CCS solution in the busiest commercial area of Longyan, to backhaul the latest LTE-TDD small cells from ZTE. A CCS unit is installed at an existing macrocell site, which feeds down to the street to provide a high availability, low latency and high capacity Ethernet backhaul service in excess of 200Mbps to each small cell site. The environment is extremely challenging for both RF and GPS – narrow streets with densely packed, tall, reflective buildings on both sides and a poor view of the sky. The CCS system’s self-organising capability enables it to pick up the optimal signal, thereby overcoming RF issues. Each CCS node is also uniquely capable of providing GPS-derived synchronisation to the small cell when the small cell’s own GPS fails. The GPS capabilities of CCS’ backhaul system are much more robust than those of a small cell, enabling operation in difficult environments where small cells may not function. The Fujian network was deployed by local contractors in just one day after minimal training, without the need for any on-site configuration or manual alignment. The advanced self-organising nature of the CCS backhaul nodes has created a network that can self-configure into an optimal topology – without any RF or link planning – and provide automatic redundancy via self-healing features. Commenting on today’s announcement, CCS CEO Steve Greaves said: “This expansion of our commercial partnership with China Mobile really underlines how successful our solution is proving to be in delivering robust backhaul in difficult urban settings.†He added: “The unique, built-in intelligence of our system means that these networks can be deployed quickly, flexibly and reliably in even the most challenging RF and GPS environments.†-ends- About CCS Ltd: Cambridge, UK-based CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Ltd) is the pioneer of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks. 9. Siegen, Germany, 8th July 2014 – PoINT Software & Systems GmbH has released version 5.0 of PoINT Storage Manager. This new release includes various novelties by which companies can face the challenges of data growth, administration of inactive data and long-term storage efficiently. From now on also authorized users are able to archive data independently. Furthermore PoINT Software & Systems had extended the list of supported storage systems considerably. Version 5.0 supports now also the operating system Windows Server 2012 R2 and contains an optimized integration of Blu-ray Disc libraries by PoINT Jukebox Manager. For facing the growth of unstructured data storage concepts are necessary to keep investments for storage extensions and for additional back-up licenses respectively capacities at a minimum. Normally up to 80% of data is unstructured, whereof nearly 70% do not need to be accessible directly. Inactive data stresses increasingly the primary storage capacity and the back-up of primary storage cannot be carried out without problems due to the huge data volumes. A file-tiering- and archiving software is a solution for companies to purge inactive data from expensive primary storage to cost-efficient secondary storage for archival, but retain transparent data access. PoINT Storage Manager applies the file tiering approach consequently and thus creates more free capacity on the primary storage as well as savings in additional back-up costs. PoINT Software & Systems GmbH has integrated additional functions addressing the main market requirements of the storage sector. The policy-based file archiving function had been extended by a user driven archiving functionality by which authorized users can purge and archive files independently. For this purpose PoINT Storage Manager 5.0 offers a web client which is available network-wide and can be used without a decided software installation. Furthermore PoINT Software & Systems has extended the list of supported storage systems considerably. For the integration of object store systems, which are becoming more and more important in the market, now also connectors for Caringo CAStor and HDS HCP (Hitachi Content Platform) are available. Additionally Blu-ray Disc libraries can be integrated for long-term storage and archiving by the established PoINT Jukebox Manager resulting in an advanced functionality. Also the operating system Windows Server 2012 R2 is supported by the new version. For ensuring the server failover the Microsoft Cluster Manager is implied. 10. Berlin, Cologne, Germany , 4th July 2014 – The PDF Association has successfully brought to life a new user-focused event in the form of the “PDF Days Europe 2014â€. In mid-June, 160 participants came to Cologne to seize the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about the different PDF standards, their advantages and their uses. The first day focused on sharing knowledge, allowing visitors to assemble their own personal information package out of three parallel series of developer-neutral presentations. The second day, the “practical dayâ€, was all about the practical and successful implementation of PDF projects using specific solutions. Participants especially praised the practically-minded selection of subjects, the structure of the conference with its three parallel series of presentations, and the many opportunities to speak to suppliers and other users. With this overwhelmingly positive feedback in mind, the PDF Association plans to continue the “PDF Days Europe†next year. “The PDF Days Europe 2014 offered visitors the unique opportunity to learn everything they needed to know about the PDF standards and the latest news and developments in the world of PDF technology, and all in just two daysâ€, explained Olaf Drümmer, chairman of the PDF Association board. “In particular, the practically-minded nature of the presentations on the second day, which was very strongly focused on projects and solutions, proved to offer significant added value to participants.†To begin the conference, six proven experts had seven minutes each to introduce one PDF standard, providing a good overview of PDF/A, PDF/E, PDF/UA, PDF/VT, PDF/X and PDF itself. On the first day of the event, presentations on the use of the PDF format on mobile devices were met with particularly significant interest. These included case studies for scanning with smartphones, clearing invoices, legally signing PDF documents and options for optimising PDF display on mobile devices. Presentations on e-invoicing with the now officially approved ZUGFeRD data model were also very popular, as were those on the new technical guidelines for replacement scanning, TR-RESISCAN. Contributing providers began the practical day: each had a closely-measured five minute slot to introduce their product or solution. This brief, fast-paced overview made it easier for participants to decide which questions or solutions they wished to focus on out of the available options. One key issue here was converting scanned and digital documents, and particularly emails, to PDF – and not just to PDF/A for long-term archiving. Both the introduction to and the workshop on universally-accessible PDFs in the form of PDF/UA were very popular with visitors. All in all, the many lively discussions in the presentations showed just how critical the issues presented were to participants. Interested parties who missed the PDF Days Europe 2014 can view video recordings of the presentations at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfGR40SWnakjyWjfnmFOz-nsmf3_ap_Ec. About the PDF Association: The PDF Association pursues the goal of promoting open-standards-based PDF applications for digital documents. This international association works to actively share knowledge and exchange know-how and experience between all interested parties worldwide. Currently over 100 companies are members of the PDF Association, including many experts from over 20 different countries. 12. Cambridge, UK, 12th May 2014 – CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), developer of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, has been shortlisted for a Light Reading Leading Lights Award. Featured in the Best New Product (Mobile) category, the nomination recognises CCS’ development of a “potentially market-leading product that, through engineering and technical excellence, enables the deployment of profitable next-generation mobile services.†CCS’ small cell backhaul system is the only solution that meets all key requirements of mobile network operators. The combination of its unique self-organising capability and multipoint-to-multipoint architecture delivers higher resilience plus considerable savings by reducing manual labour costs during planning, installation and ongoing network expansion. The small outdoor device can be easily deployed in under 15 minutes and only one unit is required per lamppost, which is more acceptable to urban planners. The system offers increased flexibility with dynamic bandwidth management and capacity that’s more easily scaled. There’s no need to re-visit existing sites when new nodes are added because existing nodes automatically re-organise and re-align – unlike conventional microwave systems, which would need continual re-planning and re-alignment as the small cell network grows. CCS’ backhaul system enables cost-effective small cell deployment in a flexible, organic way as additional capacity is required. Having executed a number of trials, CCS announced its first commercial deployment with China Mobile in early 2014. The Leading Lights Awards, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary, recognises the most innovative and inspiring companies working within the communications services sector. The announcement of the finalists for the 16 award categories is the last stage before the winners are revealed at the awards dinner on 17 June, at The Adler Planetarium in Chicago. Speaking of the nomination, Steve Greaves, CEO and co-founder of CCS commented; “We are honoured to be shortlisted for a Leading Lights Award in this category, especially in such a competitive year. 14. Cambridge, UK, 13th March 2014 – CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), developer of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces the publication of a new whitepaper exploring the backhaul solutions that can support organic small cell network growth. Written by Senza Fili Consulting, the research offers an in-depth examination of the potential total cost of ownership to mobile network operators – due to the inevitable densification of mobile infrastructure – and a detailed overview of some of the backhaul solutions currently existing. The whitepaper is freely available for download here: A backhaul solution for organic small-cell growth. The whitepaper demonstrates the potential savings available to operators using the model of a small cell network that grows organically over a 5-year period to meet the increased capacity needed for the operators' overall network. It addresses an expansion in backhaul to support an initial deployment of 100 small cells that grows to 5110 small cells in year 5, and the likely costs incurred as the result of continuous network planning and implementation. In the report, the cost savings achieved by deploying a self-organising, multipoint-to-multipoint (MP2MP) backhaul system – 42 per cent lower CAPEX and 34 per cent lower OPEX – are due to reduced manual labour costs associated with planning, installation and topology optimisation of small cell networks. Unlike point-to-point (P2P) systems, which would require repeated re-planning as the small cell network grows, a fully self-organizing MP2MP system such as that from CCS, enables simple organic growth and a rapid response for network operators to expand capacity when and where demand is highest. “Small cells are going to be essential assets for operators needing to increase the capacity density of their mobile networks. However if this growth is to be part of a well-paced evolution, the costs of reshaping and optimising ever-expanding networks will be substantial,†says report author, Monica Paolini, President and Founder of Senza Fili Consulting. “This TCO analysis shows the advantages of self-organized systems in keeping the cost and complexity down in expanding small-cell networks.†CEO of CCS Ltd, Steve Greaves, commented: “We are delighted by the results of this important research conducted by Senza Fili Consulting. The outcome is a great vote of confidence for CCS and vindicates our proposition for a self-organising, self-optimising backhaul network.†---- ends --- About CCS Ltd. 15. Cambridge, UK, 17th February 2014 – CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), the developer of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces that its solution is in live deployment with China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator. The small cell network is operational now, delivering enhanced coverage and capacity in a busy urban hotspot environment and marking one of China Mobile’s first outdoor deployments of 4G LTE-TDD small cells. China is the world’s largest mobile market with an estimated 1.2 billion users, and was recently selected by CCS as its manufacturing base, providing the company with key access to what is expected to be the world’s biggest small cell market. According to recently released research by Dell’Oro, the global mobile backhaul equipment market is predicted to be worth $8 billion by 2018 (January 2014). In the landmark implementation, CCS’s CE-marked, self-organising backhaul nodes were deployed by local lighting contractors in only 15 minutes per site, without training or the need to perform complicated frequency planning or alignment, delivering immediate and optimal 4G coverage to China Mobile subscribers. A single compact unit connects to other units to create a multipoint-to-multipoint network that self-organises into the most optimal topology, without the requirement to post-optimise. The locations consist of a single CCS node together with a single or dual small cell, forming a 4G/LTE Macro and small cell HetNet (heterogeneous network). The network demonstrates the advanced self-organisation capabilities of CCS's solution together with its self-healing capabilities in the event of a node or link failure. The network easily provides the high capacity, low latency, carrier-class availability and high QoS required when backhauling next generation LTE small-cells. The network is now carrying live 4G traffic and the flexible architecture dynamically reconfigures and adapts, allowing the network to organically scale to connect further small cells in surrounding areas. With simple, low-cost and fast deployment, the CCS solution significantly reduces the OPEX of the last mile backhaul, with CAPEX also reduced as only one unit is required per location. China Mobile currently has around 763M subscribers and launched its TD-LTE network in December 2013. China Mobile expects to construct its 4G networks in over 340 cities to reach a total of more than 500,000 TD-LTE base stations by the end of 2014. Commenting on today’s announcement, CCS CEO Steve Greaves said: “This is a highly significant deployment for CCS, which demonstrates the unrivalled technical and business benefits that our solution is delivering to the world’s largest mobile network operator.†He added: “Our self-organising, self-healing nodes are able to be very swiftly and flexibly deployed by relatively untrained contractors – without any upfront frequency planning or optimisation – saving both time and money while delivering the high levels of capacity, latency and redundancy demanded by China Mobile. With this flagship implementation and our new manufacturing base in China, CCS is now strategically very well-placed to create a strong leadership position in backhaul as the small cell market growth accelerates.†CCS will be showcasing its solution at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona (24 to 27 February, Fira Gran Via). 17. Berlin, Germany, 29th January 2014 – This year at CeBIT, PDF Association members are focusing on practical uses for PDF/A-3. This version of the ISO standard opens up many new potential applications, as it allows any format file to be embedded into a PDF/A document. One prominent example of this is the ZUGFeRD data model, which specifies PDF/A-3 as the carrier format for exchanging digital invoices. Accordingly, Association members will show how businesses can create and work with ZUGFeRD-compliant invoices. Email archiving is another practical use for PDF/A-3, as this third version of the standard can combine both archivable emails and attachments with their original source files to create a single PDF/A document. PDF Association members will also show the first examples of this principle in practice. The ability to embed any format into a PDF/A-3 file is made possible by PDF’s “container†principle, which the third version of the PDF/A standard allows. This feature can significantly improve all kinds of document-based work. For example, a single file can bring together a source file and its archivable copy in one place. Many new potential applications have begun to appear over the past year as a result, including e-invoicing, email archiving, storing birth certificates and more. Thomas Zellmann, Managing Director of the PDF Association, will give an introductory presentation in the BITKOM / VOI ECM forum in Hall 3 on Tuesday the 11th of March at 1:30pm, titled “PDF/A-3 for documents – The be-all and end-all?!†On Wednesday the 12th of March at 10:30am, PDF Association member LuraTech will report on email archiving with PDF/A. PDF/A-3 makes it possible to combine the visual representation of an invoice together with the corresponding machine-readable data in a single file, for optimal exchange between supplier and customer. This approach is defined by the Forum for Electronic Billing in Germany (FeRD e. V.) in its ZUGFeRD data model, which will make its presence felt both at exhibitors’ stands and during a number of presentations at CeBIT. In fact, in the ECM Forum on the very first day of CeBIT, the 10th of March, a “solutions pitch†will begin at 2:30pm in which six suppliers will demonstrate how businesses and public institutions can use their products to create ZUGFeRD invoices. On the final day of the trade show, the 14th of March, there will be a final podium discussion in the ERP Forum (Hall 5) at 10:30am, on the subject: “From data to information – BI & ECMâ€. Here, experts will show various ways in which users can benefit from the ZUGFeRD data model. Email archiving is also proving to be another vital use for PDF/A-3. Now, the long-term PDF/A version of the original mail can be combined with the email attachments (converted to PDF/A format) and the original source format attachments as well. The final result is just one archivable object for each email, containing as many attachments as required. 20. London, UK, 3rd December 2013. – Research from Telnames today reveals that the businesses leading the way in adopting mobile websites are not who you might think, according to a new white paper from mobile –optimised website leader Telnames (http://www.telnames.com). The businesses leading the way in adopting mobile websites – and capitalising on the consumer boom in mobile search - are not the larger hi-tech companies with established and mature web presences that people might expect. It is the UK’s small and micro businesses that have most enthusiastically adopted mobile technology. The full whitepaper is now available for download from http://tiny.cc/4bzg7w.'>http://tiny.cc/4bzg7w. The explosive growth in mobile search traffic represents a major opportunity for businesses looking to attract browsers on the move or searching at home on their smartphone and tablet devices, and Telnames’ whitepaper clearly shows that small and micro enterprise owners in particular have been quick to grasp the benefits of establishing a mobile-ready web presence. The news comes at an exciting time for small companies with Small Business Saturday, a day-long celebration of small and local businesses being held on 7th December 2013. In support of the UK’s first Small Business Saturday (SBS), Telnames is offering new customers a special discount price of £9.95. This offer of a third off a mobile-optimised .tel website is available via the promotional order code ‘SBS’. Telnames websites are designed with mobile users in mind, they are quick and easy to set up and changes can be made at any time. The offer is open until the 31st December 2013. According to research by Google, 95% of smartphone users search for local businesses and services online and 68% of these local information-seekers call or visit a business within one hour of finding information on their phones. Furthermore, it has been predicted that mobile will overtake fixed internet access in 2014. However, a recent study by Barclays reveals the majority of UK businesses appear unprepared for the shift in consumer activity away from PCs and laptops to mobile devices. Indeed, the bank’s report reveals that 89% of businesses still have not developed their website for mobile devices. Micro businesses have bucked this trend, however, with 51% of Telnames customer base being businesses with five staff or less. Relying on a local customer base, these businesses have intuitively understood the value of mobile to attract customers on the move. Telnames’ Chief Marketing Officer Ian Bowen-Morris comments: “The results of our research may come as a surprise to some people that small businesses are leading the way in this area. Telnames is a champion of small business, and has helped thousands of small businesses to get online and get found with a mobile-optimised .tel website that is affordable, easy to manage and fully customisable. With Small Business Saturday just around the corner, we are offering a special promotional discount for customers who use the code SBS to help even more small businesses access mobile web and the benefits that will bring.†The full briefing paper is now available for download from: http://tiny.cc/4bzg7w. ### About Telnames: http://www.telnames.tel Telnames is a leader in self-service mobile-ready website creation. 22. Bath, UK, 14th November 2013. – UK technology startup CloudFind (www.cloudfindhq.com) today announced that it has attracted a further £460k of investment for its plans to transform how companies find, share and organize their information. This latest equity investment takes Cloudfind’s funding to date to over £700k ($1m). Cloudfind’s technology addresses an issue that every company recognizes: how to find the right information quickly from thousands of folders and millions of files. “The potential to save time and cost, and streamline day to day operations for businesses of all kinds is simply huge,†commented Cloudfind CEO, Sebastian Toke-Nichols. According to Cloudfind, companies are finding it increasingly difficult to keep information organized, even with sophisticated search and collaboration tools. Growing volumes of enterprise files and the rapid growth in cloud storage only add to the complexity. “Conventional methods for searching and organizing information are becoming increasingly inadequate,†Toke-Nichols added. “It’s like looking for a needle in a field of haystacks.†Cloudfind solves the problem with sophisticated algorithms that automatically and intelligently “tag†information and documents from across cloud storage providers, such as Google Drive, Box and Dropbox. To find the files they need, users simply click on tags, rather than having to review long lists of search results or browse through folders. By integrating with enterprise applications such as Salesforce.com, Cloudfind makes the process even more seamless, saving valuable time and keeping business processes running smoothly. Toke-Nichols added: “This additional funding demonstrates the huge interest and potential in this area, and a vote of confidence in Cloudfind from experienced technology investors.†The company plans to recruit up to 20 additional staff during 2014 to develop its technology further and tap worldwide market potential. Cloudfind will be in San Francisco, November 18-21 for Dreamforce, the world’s largest technology vendor-led event, attracting 120,000 Salesforce users, customers and partners. --ENDS About Cloudfind: Cloudfind develops software that helps companies find, share and organize their information. 25. Madrid, Spain, 4th November 2013. – Madrid-based Gowex – the $900m company already powering wireless smart cities and WiFi networks in more than 80 cities worldwide – has announced a new initiative to merge public and private access WiFi services from mobile operators and businesses to create seamless mobile data coverage for consumers. Called We-2, the new service will launch next month in New York with an initial network of more than 2000 WiFi hotspots across the City with plans to further expand aggressively across the busiest corridors of Manhattan, Queens and The Bronx. Going forward, the company said it plans to create We-2 merged WiFi hotspot networks in more than 300 cities by 2020. Announcing the service, Carlos Gomez Vendrell, CEO We-2, said: “We are offering easy access to almost city wide mobile data for consumers, we are giving operators the chance to improve mobile data access for the customers and offload traffic from congested networks, and we are creating a valuable new promotional service for businesses that join our network and share their WiFi capability. Everybody wins.†In New York, the service will initially launch with support from the New York City Economic Development Corporation which is backing Mayor Bloomberg’s drive to turn the City into a “Technology Hubâ€. The Corporation will be helping Gowex expand its own WiFi hotspot networks in key locations across the five Boroughs. “We are speaking with operators and offering them the chance to get on Board now and expand their mobile data network coverage today at virtually no cost. By offering their customers the We-2 service in New York, I believe they would increase their city centre data coverage at least fivefold,†said Vendrell. “We-2 is not a substitute for building hi-speed city centre 4G networks,†Vendrell added, “but it is a solution to a congestion problem today, and will happily live alongside the networks of the future as demand for mobile data coverage continues to explode.†Vendrell also explained the company’s concept of “social WiFi networksâ€. By allowing consumers to use business and retail unit WiFi networks as part of the We-2 service, Vendrell said companies would be able to create relevant offers and promotions for nearby users through permission based marketing and data capture. “There is more than one business model in the We-2 service – which means that Gowex, the operators, and the businesses that share their networks, all have the opportunity to generate a return on the investment. The biggest winner though is the consumer,†he added, “with seamless WiFi access through one network on a city-wide basis.†For further information please contact: Kevin Taylor VP Europe, Global Results Communications, ktaylor[at]globalresultspr[dot]com, +447.850.858.291 Distributed on behalf of Global Results Communications by NeonDrum news distribution service (http://www.neondrum.com)
