Speed up Network Browsing in Windows 2000 & XP
Here's a tip for speeding up Internet and LAN browsing on Windows 2000 and XP
machines.
When browsing network resources, Windows 2000/XP will try to find
shared printers and scheduled tasks on the computer you try to connect to.
This introduces a delay. To stop this behaviour do the following.
Open regedit.exe from Start->Run
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current
Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace
[note: line break inserted so line will fit]
Delete the Sub-Key with (Default) string value set to "Printers"

Delete the Sub-Key with (Default) string value set to "Scheduled Tasks"

Note: You may experience a delay if that system has a printer shared.
