This fix was for an older MS compatibility update (April 2000?) and is no longer necessary. You can get the latest Windows 2000 compatibility update here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/tools/appcompat/default.asp

Posted by Palos (Senior Member) Can't use windows update?! Yea, I just installed XP Home edition, and tried to use the Windows Update site. Found a bunch of updates, but it refuses to download/install them. It gives me an "update failed" message...I can tell by looking at the ingoing/outgoing packets, that there is not much being downloaded from the WinUpdate site.

I decided to switch back to vB after no one was happy with the new forum.
-
Seems like the preview function works only along with the "find users" routine. I tried to modify the script but that caused only database errors

Quote: That other one was pretty bad.... The backend was nice: I personal liked the database features (optimize/run a SQL query) in the admin control panel. The board was also a bit faster and easier to modify. Ok... the look and feel was way different that vB

I try to see if I can add this modification to vB. This mod is very easy to add on an UBBThreads based board (which was installed earlier today)

Posted by Danimal (Junior Member) Re: Ut & Xp ??? Yes it only happens when I try to Launch or join a Lan game. Posted by ejsmith (Member) Re: Ut & Xp ??? I have a GF2 Ultra on an Asus a7v133 AMD machine with Xp. I'm not using *any* of the 4n1's, and I have the 21.83's loaded. I have Gtu3.12beta loaded, and cranked on fastwrites, sidebanding, overclocked. The worx. Ut runs outstanding. I had absolutely no luck with the 4.35's-4.37's. 4.32 was the last 4n1's that were stable on this machine, but that was under Win2k/Me dual boot. I dual Xp/Me now. Sounds like you've got a driver problem in there somewhere. You might try chucking the 4n1's, and running the 21.83's before anything else. Xp's udma5 IDE speed is good without the 4n1's, according to Sandra and Hdtach.

Posted by Winger300 Re: Slow transfers It seems that transfers are much slower in one direction than the other. The machine with the internet connection transfers files to the other machine at 4MB/s whereas in the other direction its around 500KB/s!

The main problem is that WMP8 is part of Windows XP and not available/licensed as standalone version.

Thanks Three. I possible add this next week.

Blah Blah: I didn't send any spam. All email addresses here on the board are usual protected for spambots because none of the addresses are visibly. Alex: That was because your email address (i.e. mailto:youremail@domain) is in your article and a spambot picked it up.

Quote: Oh, that's not good. I was just getting ready to sign up with Tera-Byte, too. Have you tried emailing them about this problem? Tera-Byte has fixed the firewall problem

The Server is doing fine. The problem is Tera-Byte's firewall/router: Quote: fw-4ws-fxp0.edm.tera-byte.com 216.234.160.54 I hope Tera-Byte fix or replace this machine shortly

Thanks. Done

Tuplay has posted a new article covering all the woes that hit the online hardware/gaming community recently. I´m sure most of you have a sense of what I´m going to write about... how could one not? What with the recent onslaught of pop-ups advertisements, sites closing and losing staff, etc. It seems that something has gone direly wrong. I take that back. Something has gone direly wrong, and I think it´s time everyone knew just how far the damage has spread. Although I´ll try not to make this piece all-encompassing, it will be difficult in that the actions and fluctuations of this funny little community are often reflected ten-fold in the big scheme of things (the Internet). So anyway, here we go. Read more
