Computer Choas has posted a review on the Volcano 6 Cu Heatsink. The Volcano 6 Cu is geared for those that don´t like the noisy 7000 RPM fans that come on the Cu+, yet still need decent cooling for their Socket A or Socket 370 CPU´s. Personally I don´t even notice the fan noises anymore but it seems like the majority of people prefer the quieter fans so this heatsink should be a good choice for the masses. These fans only draw 2.04 watts of power compared to the 4.44 watts that the 7000 RPM version requires. I would feel safe running this fan of the header supplied on the motherboard rather that using the 3pin to molex adapter that I use to power the fan on the Volcano 6 Cu+. Read more

T-Break has posted a review on MSI´s P4 board- the 850 Pro2 Another interesting thing was the inclusion of an additional heatsink/fan combo for the Northbridge. If you feel that the standard North Bridge heatsink isn´t up to you specifications for overclocking, you can replace it with the included one- a good option. Read more

GideonTech.com has posted a review on Thermal Take´s Volcano 5 heatsink. One of the most important elements that I value on any heatsink is the clip design. Thermal Take usually considers the request from many users on a simple clip that works. Definitely something that does not require a jack hammer to put in. The clip on this unit is just ´adequate´ to say the least. I say this because it was hard to put on with my bare fingers. After a few minutes of toying with it, I whipped out my small flat headed screw driver and took care of business. The clip itself had no area to push down on! The clip did have a small notch situated in the middle for a flat screwdriver to push down on. Read more

Chipmaker Intel has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Via Technologies and will seek to have Via´s new Pentium 4 chipsets pulled off the market. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel on Friday filed suit in U.S. District Court in Delaware. The lawsuit alleges that Via´s P4X266 and P4M266 chipsets, which were released earlier this month, infringe on five Intel patents. S3, a former graphics chip powerhouse that is working with Via on the chipsets, was also named as a defendant. Read more

Overclockers Online has posted a review on the Swiftech MCX370-0A heatsink. First of all, I got to tell you that the bottom of this heatsink is just as smooth as Jennifer Lopez´s ass! Nope, I´m not kidding here. Just as on all other Swiftech products we have in our testlab, the bottom of this MCX370 is polished to perfection. I mean, you can´t see the difference between the bottom of this heatsink and a real mirror. This perfect ass sure proves that I was right when I said that Swiftech only produces high quality products. Read more

TweakTown has put up an article concerning the "Product Activation" of Windows XP Windows Product Activation (WPA) is a technology used to enable/activate a copy of Windows XP for a specific PC. Under the Microsoft Agreements, users are allowed to install Windows XP on one machine. When you activate Windows XP, it analyzes key components on your computer (hardware) and creates an internal value that is combined with your product ID code. This makes a 50-digit number called the Installation ID. The number is then transmitted to Microsoft in exchange for a 42-digit Activation ID that activates Windows XP. If you attempt to activate a copy of Windows XP from another machine, you will be unable to since there already is a computer in the database. Read more

.... Global Address List Among the functions Outlook Web Access (OWA) in Exchange 5.5 offers is the ability to search the global address list (GAL). By design, this is an authenticated function, implemented as a two-tier architecture - a front tier that provides a user interface and a back-end tier that actually performs the search. However, only the front tier actually checks authentication. An attacker who sent a properly formatted request to the back-end function that actually performs the search could enumerate the GAL without authenticating. Read more

Maximum Hardware has posted a Windows XP Review The Grand Poobah of Redmond has put it´s seal of approval on the most anticipated and criticized piece of software to date. So what does that mean to you and me? Well, not much really, the general public can´t buy it until October 25th, and even that date is still up in the air according to some. I had the pleasure (?) of acquiring the final build of Windows XP Professional and I thought that I had better give it a run for it´s money and then talk about it. Read more
