First of all why do u have 2 sound boards in ur computer? I just want to understand what the purpose is, for personal curiosity. Secondly how do you "select" the other sound card? via device manager? or is there some special new tab that appears when u have 2 sound cards installed in a computer? Thirdly your saying taht the second card plays midi but not wav? I know this is basic but have u checked if the wave sound is on via software for the second sound card? it doesnt make sense for it to have midi outputing properly but not wav other then a lil software switch muting wav.

Hey fellas Im still on vacation (not like anyone cares just thought Id throw some information out there ), I got the followwing setup at home but its giving me problems. My 19 inch is on the TNT2U and the 17 incher is on a TNT1 PCI, but I cant run any opengl games without disabling the 17 inch monitor. any ideas? or is it just another premature driver issue? Im guessing thats what it is but I figured ID ask anyways, there are quite a few smart cookies out there who have spare time like me to just goof around with their comptuers and might have run into this problem

forgive me I am slow at times I might have misunderstood ur questions so if I totally dont answer it sorry ..... But the boot loader is located on the primary partition right? (I might be wrong) So just delete the extended partition and ur done. Or just delte the winnt 5.0 directory and other basic folders that go with it ie program files documents and settings or finally sys.com the drive u want to boot off and copy the boot file tot hat drive......

This is usually a given but I might as well menstion it anyways, it is a bootable drive right? and u did sys.com the drive? IE sys c: (sys = sys.com)

I havent used 9x since 1996, so I have nothing to compare it with. But Iv read a couple of reviews and articles saying that win98 is yielding about 10-15 percent higher framerates compared to win2k. They had a number of games benchmarks to prove it as well on equivalent systems. What Im wondering is: Is this because of drivers? but man 10-15 percent is alot if u ask me....... is win2k is bogged down with system operations running in the background? because I remmeber Nt 4.0 would run all glide and opengl games FASTER then 9x but now with win2k that doesnt seem to be true anymore Those fellas out there with a dual boot and single processor systems could u give us some input? is win98 faster in games? if yes is it d3d? opengl? or both? Thats about it for now

q3a has MINIMAL smp support usually 10-15 percent icnrease in RARE/SEVERE occasions it goes up to 30-45 percent increase. tribes has SMP support?????? I think ur mistaken bro, I jstu ran tibes and checked cpu usage it was at 50 percent...

yeah man can u imagine games that are fully take advantage of SMP omg that would OWN... does anybody know whats gonna be the first fully SMP game?

I said Im runing 2194...... I dont think they changed that much since 2194.. I said 2183 because that is the last RC build they had up..... plz spare me ur smart a$$ remarks... and the rest of us as well.. Good lord, some of u guys are Ex-9X users arent u? I cant belive u enabled "active desktop". I hate being rude and condescneding, but main that is just not cool, u might as well install norton system works so it can integrate itself in ur whole system and crash it... active desktop is a horrible thing to do, it gobbles up ram and uses excess cpu cycles for absolutely nothing... Im sure some u guys love it and think its the coolest thing, BUT any comptuer freak/geek such as myself will never let u live it down

hi end pc here.. 7200 rpm drive with ata 66 q3a map loads in about 10 secs 15 max.. and ut 5-15...

ahh okay its just that some people always complain about MS OS, and then expect everything to be solved by the latest build, but lil do they know that all their problems are because of the hardware and drivers. I got a a win2k server thats RC1, with a ghetto vid card, and 2 crappy nic cards. Thats been up for more then 3 months, come on u gotta love that, its freaking rc1 !!! I gotta tell you I got some mad love for win2k

have u tried patching it to 4.02.. that supposedly solved TONS of problems.. if so post again plz

AM I missing something here?? usually the final build and release version arent that different... people are expecting ALL the problems they are having with 2183, 2194 to be solved.. I really doubt that they will if the final release is going to be out in the next week or two.... Maybe Im wrong but I really doubt it. Iv done a fair bit of programming, and man to go back through old code debugging sections adding different libraries and all that crap takes a long f-ing time.. not just a week or two especially with these huge problems..... But yes by the time it hits the market 2 months from now the DRIERS!! will be much better. There is a common misconception that just becuase creative and whoever say they dont support the os, that they arent doing **** for drivers.... WRONG!! Most of the buggers are working on win2k programs but its ILLEGAL for them to release actual win2k drivers, its a "pact" that they have to make with MS. I gota good friend who works with Gig-byte, and tahts exactly what he said. HE told me they got decent drivers already for a lot of their hardware but they are under cotnract from MS to NOT release them until MS says so. usually meaning release date....

Did u recently get a ata 66 drive? or do u havea driv eon the ata 66 controller? what version of nvogl do u got? everything works fine with my ata 66 drive, unless I start a opengl/d3d game.. dont ask... Iv tried everything but thats the only thing that fixed it (putting the 66 drive back on the 33 controller) I took out all my cards other then video and did a clean install of build 2194.. still locked up MOST of the time not always mind you....

yeah I got a few things to say, about hi vs low res fill rate and cpu usage but I'm in college hell week (exams) so gimme a few days fellas Ill post on the 17th, excuse me
