GeForce 256 - RC3 Build 2183 - v3.64/v3.56 - Not working
bigfitty replied to elbereth's topic in Hardware
I get the same error. i don't knwo what build, but i'm running rc1 with a tnt2. however if i use the 353 drivers, everyhting is peachy! (except for q3 ;P) -
From what i read, starting this program without any switches would automatically defrag all your hard drives. All i can get it to do is pull up the defrag console... i have to manually start the defrag myself. Am i missing a key step? doing something wrong? does this work for anyone else?

asheron's call works fine!
-
watch out! seldzar's gonna start charging for access to his site! on topic; i am running rc1 with a pci(!) TNT and mx300. no problems! i can run the aoe2 demo without any difficulty. I have not switched to rc2 becuase of all the problems i have heard of with nvidia cards. as for the mx300, i haven't noticed any problems.

Autodefrag is a 3rd party util that is supposed to automate the built in defragmenter. It's freeware, so I can't argue, but right now it provides no more functionality than the built in app.

There's a hotfix for dhcp issues that cured my ip address problem. if you can't find it on MS's site, let me know, and I'll see if I can find the link again.

FYI i couldn't get the "coolbits" reg hack to work either. Anybody got this working?
-
yay! now I can play AC!
-
on the hardware forum, there's a link to the 3.52 drivers....d3d works! dxdiag says its fine and asherons' call runs accelerated! yay!
-
i'm still trying to get mine to work as well... If you look in the w2k help files, it says you need to set up static routes in the RAS/ROUTING mmc has anyone got this working?
-
do any of these give you d3d?
-
just a guess, but have you tried using the NT4 drivers for your video card? it works for TNT cards..

win98 and 95 use your defualt login for authentication to other peer to peer machines. the easiest thing to do is to create a matching account on you w2k machine with no password (or a password if you use one to login to your 9x machine) and give it permissions to your w2k shares. in 98 you MIGHT be able to go into your windows\profiles dir to find out what your defualt login is.

i just d\l'd the latest nt 4.0 drivers from aureal's site and they work great! they are vers 2.04 they are here: ftp://ftp3.a3d.com/pub/Public/Drivers/Vortex/nt2.04.06.zip they enabled my rear speakers! as with any nt 4.o drivers you get the message that they are not designed for your hardware (or something to that effect) but they seem to work fine. i am using an mx30 with b3

1.get the latest drivers for your tnt from either assus or nvidia. 2. install the q3 test. 3. run it! that worked for me. ******************************** ps. i get about the same fps as i did in w98 [This message has been edited by bigfitty (edited August 17, 1999).]

i just reinstalled unreal on w2kb3. I also ran the latest patch (225f) the game looks great, but has no sound. i have tried all the in game settings to no avail. i have an mx300 soundcard with the latest vortex2 drivers from aureal. (BTW these finally enabled my rear speakers) i saw a post on an unreal message board from someone who was having the same problem in NT 4.0, but they didn't mention hardware. anyone else having this problem? any suggestions?

what kinda error message do you get when you install tnt drivers?

My ugly Halflife: I installed 2k on a w98 system...sort of. I added a fresh disk, made my old disk a slave, and installed 2k. Well, my old disk is still my c: drive, even though I no longer boot from it. Since I didn't reformat c:, I still had all my old progs and apps. they all worked (mostly) and there was no confusion about paths becuase they were still on c:\. so far so good! Then enters Half life! I ran half- life from my old install on the c: drive. it asked for my cd-key and then Appeared to run ok. I say appeared because when i exited, i got a bluescreen and had to reboot. after the reboot, chkdsk ran for a godawful long time (3 to 4 hours) and when it was done, 70% of the files on my c: drive were truncated to 4k. yuck! i reformated c: to ntfs and reinstalled most of the other applications. will this happen again? i am scared! is it becuase of my wierd install or is it a half life problem? any suggestions?
