this is really killin me, cant update bios from 1.09 to 1.10
Igor replied to JimmyK's topic in Hardware
This is realy strange. Just last night I DL the lats beta bios from ABIT/BP6 site, along with award bios update program and flash went with NO problem at all. I just started to win98 and went to "shutdown to dos" and run: "awardflsh update.bin followed by adviset parametrs (get yem of ABIT site)" and now I have my ATA66 bios at 1.10 -
If u so sure it is ya card get a new video card and try again. Borrow ya friends or get a cheap PCI card from OfficeDepot or whatever, pick the one with *cough*15 day satisfaction *cough*.

Disable ACPI support in BIOS and set it to ACPI_Enable=0 in txtsetup.sif " and re-install Win2k. PS. I have Live! and it works just fine.
-
Not much help here.. I have IDE writer and out of all program that I've tryed the only one that worked right under Win2k (RC1 or RC2) is the Easy CD Creator.

Yes and No. I installed Win98 then Win2k so here the Win2k bootmanager is used. Then I used Partition Magic to make partitions for Linux. Then I just installed Linux. So now when the system starts it brings up the LILO bootmanager I can select Linux or dos if I select DOS it brings up the Win2k bootmanages to select Win2k or Win98. Maybe it is not the best way to do it but it works and that is all I care ;-)

I dunno why u guys r having problems. I have BP6+V3 3000. Got all the right files from everywhere and after, the OpenGL/Glide work (no D3D). Make sure u follow the instractions and also u HAVE to have voodoo.dll/sys from build 2072 or it will not work. Also insted of all that copying just use the OLD INF file from this page (glide & ogl for RC1) it worked like a charm and no need to figure out which files to copy where.

Just installed Win2k RC2 (build 2128) with the new SoundBlaster Live Value that has a digital out. The sound didn't work at start. Had to get drivers from http://www.mswin2k.net . It works fine but I couden't try digi-out. P.S. I didn't have to disable ASPI support and the sound still works [This message has been edited by Igor (edited September 26, 1999).]

Yes you can. At least I instaled Win2k + Win98 and Linux (red heat 6.0) tonight and all three systems work just fine (of the single HD)
-
And ofcourse they had to "forget" to include something... like USB support. What a bummer.
-
Just Hold the dam button for over 4 seconds and I t should turn off ya system. Though my friends system just does a reset Does any1 know if they gonna make Win2k turn off computers with ATX power supplyes.. like Win98 does?
-
It depends. U just have to make sure u have 1st boot (active) partition as FAT or FAT32 Then u should have NP. If u have an NTFS partition set as the boot partition then u r ****ed U have to Fdisk ya drive or do something else to get FAT/32 to be ya boot partition. U can also get Partition magic 4.0 to move partitions around so the 1st one becomes FAT.

ummmmmmmm... whats EQ anyway ?

One of the earlyer beta bioses had ATA66 bios version 1.10 and the newer beta only has 1.09... Check if ya bios version is 1.10 or 1.09.
-
Jst after the memory count u see the ATA66 controller BIOS screen where it lists all (if any) devices atached to it. In the 1st line it says the version number
-
ATA66 controller has VERY big timing problems with WD ata66 drives only with WD though... there is a BIOS update for it, I just can't remeber where I saw it. I think u can just e-mail ABIT asking for beta Win2k drivers.
-
My ATA66 controller on Abit BP6 is version 1.09 does anyone knows where I can get bios update for a 1.10 version ? I used to have it but deleted it by mistake before flashing the bios

Who realy cares about D3D. Is it still possiable to get V3 working with Glide and open Gl under RC2 and forget about D3D 4 now?
-
I got build 2072 to work with both network cards. one ISA one PCI. I had to manualy assign IP addresses for both cards as well as manualy assign gateway and DND servers. If ya ISP assigns different IP's then I have no idia. @Home never changes IP's
-
Same problem here. IRQ for the USB enabled but my Win2k build 2072 just can't see the beos on my BP6. I get the following message: "Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer and to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)"

hmmm.. I have MsMouse and after I installed the MS-mouse drivers Windows 2k died
-
Win2k has PS2/rate build in !! defaul is at 60 and u can go up tp 100. Check ya mouse preperty page.
-
Are u using your ATA66 to boot the system? If so then it is what suppose to happen. Drivers don't support boot under Win2k. But if u boot of ya ATA33 controller and then just access a drive on ATA66 the I never herd of problems
-
I have cable to and had to manualy enter the IP/subnet/gateway in to the TCP/IP propertis to get Win2k on the net. Though I don't see why would it metter anyway? just take a few seconds and u don't even need a reboot.
