Had no problems so far. you can even get the drivers before formating
-
With SP1 you can do for sure. Just do a search on the board. As for the rest I would not mind to know either.

DELL doesn't want to to upgrade because they want you to sell a new system But I did replace a few CPU's on DELLs with a bit faster cpu and it was all ok. What you need to do is to go to dell site and check to see what is the fastst CPU they sell that model with and that is what u can go up to. In most cases you can't go to P3 if you just have a P2 model.

Do all ibm hard drives you buy have 3 year warranties ?
Igor replied to imtim83's topic in Slack Space
So far the best warranty replacemt I had were with Maxtor. They have 3 days replacement guaranty and 3 years no questions ask waranty. So if you buy a used HD or lose you receipt they will still honor the warranty. -

Brian: you used a #2??? I thought thats what you were suppesed to use...i was gonnna use a #2 Dixon-Ticonderoga Wooden Pencil. well sh1t, i'll get a #2 and #3 and try them both on your processor Cody. IP: Logged Brian Frank Senior Member Posts: 178 Registered: Jan 2001 posted 08 March 2001 05:06 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well the trick was supposed to work...but it didnt. Still, there's always the FSB. But with a KT133 board, you really cant push it past 113MHz. And this is on the Asus A7V. Still, thats nothing to laugh at. Make sure you get some kinda thermal paste, dropped my cpu temp by 10 degrees. Hope it works. IP: Logged clutch Senior Member Posts: 551 Registered: Mar 2000 posted 08 March 2001 05:16 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the "pencil trick" is merely drawing a conductive path between two points, then why not get a conductive pen? You can find them at better electronics stores (usually not at Radio Shack) at they work very well. I used them in the past for correcting burned traces on circuit boards in moderate temperature applications. Shouldn't cost more than $5 US. ------------------ Regards, clutch IP: Logged pimpin_228 Senior Member Posts: 76 Registered: Feb 2001 posted 08 March 2001 07:04 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay no worries bout me doin anything IP: Logged Vampyr Senior Member Posts: 103 Registered: Oct 2000 posted 08 March 2001 07:05 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Common post 666 IP: Logged Vampyr Senior Member Posts: 103 Registered: Oct 2000 posted 08 March 2001 07:06 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 666 here i come!!!!!!!

If I want to setup IDE RAID 0, what is the best setting for clusters? 64, 128 or 256? And what is the difference?
-
Here is something I dug up from www.voidyourwarranty.com : Setting up a physical array is very easy, you simply select two hard drives, both on the same channel and set one as a boot drive and the other as the secondary. Set the stripe block, which should be larger than the cluster size (preferably two times the size of your average cluster size, aka 32k clusters = 64k stripe block prefferably), setup the physical partitions, format, and your good to go.
-
If I remeber correctly some site that compared RAIDs said that setting ya RAID clusters to 1/2 the size of you HD clusters provides the best performance. They recommended going with 64 or 128 depending on HD size

This is a problem solver message board so 90% of the messages are about problems... and 9% just junk. If this was a message board of ppl who have no problems then most messages would be like: "I have no problems, system is running well" I wanna see many ppl visiting that boad I know a guy who runs CAD with 128 Ram and P3-733, G450, Win2k pro, he says that his system works very well with no flaws. After all it is all in how much effort you spend seting up the system and leaving it alone. Basicaly if you do a setup and then DON'T **** with drivers it should run fine for a long time.

Well.. What is better, set one HD as Primary master and Second as Primary slave or One as Primary master and second as Primary slave (RAID 0 setup) From what I read it does makes a difference, but I can't remember the relation and I lost the link How do you like you RAID setup? any problems? Hows the performance?
-
If you want to add/remove components that Win2000 doesn't allow you then use the SEARCH function for this forum and find the answer.
-
I belive microsoft recommends Page size Total ram + 12%. As for the location, a separate HD would be the best.

If I have 2 STAND Alone computer running Windows NT 4.0 Server and I wanna Migrate user accounts from one computer to another WITHOUT re-creating it.... how can I do it? [This message has been edited by Igor (edited 06 February 2001).]

Netscape is a bloated piace of **** , takes 3 times longer to load then IE. Long live Microsoft !!
-
Well... take out you PC100 ram and just run the system with PC133 and see if it reboots, if it does then it is RAM fault, if it doesn't move the PC133 to the 1st raw(s) and put the PC100 in the last, maybe the slots a defective.

Don't worry to much INFERNO2000. EVERY flat monitor (not the LCD) has 2 thin lines across. One 1/4 way other 3/4 way. You can only see them on a white background and after 1 week you will never notice them again I'm speaking from experience here
