Anyone have a functioning controller (USB) in Windows 2000?
EM replied to MarksmanX's topic in Hardware
If I understand your question correctly, you are asking about joysticks and Win2k. Specifically USB Joysticks. If so, I am using both a Gravis Gamepad Pro USB and a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro USB on my system. ABIT BP6, 2x466@560, Promise Fasttrak66 IDE Raid, Voodoo3 w/ Official Beta drivers, SBLive, 128 RAM, Build 2195. Ed -
Works fine on my system. ABIT BP6, 2*466 @ 560 ,Promise Fasttrak66 IDE Raid, Voodoo3 2000, SBLive, 3DFX Beta Win2k drivers, 128 RAM Ed

I have noticed the same trouble with my setup. ABIT BP6 Dual 466 Viper V770 Any time I do anything that does D3D I get the hard lockup. I have tracked it so far to running the RC5 distributed client in the background. If I disable it before attempting anything D3D related the game will run but if not I have to reset my compuer. I have currently switched to a Voodoo3 to get around this until Nvidia drivers address this. After all, smp is here to stay and if their drivers can't share the processor with anything else... Of course the Voodoo3 hacked drivers that I am using don't allow smp in Quake 3 but at least they don't lock up my computer. Ed

First my hardware. ABIT BP6 Celeron 366 x 2 IBM 5400 rpm 15.2g UDMA66 x2 ASUS 40x IDE CDrom SBLive Value Linksys II NIC Not overclocked. Problem is with the Promise Fasttrak66. It is that I can install Win98 SE, WinNT 4.0, or Win2000 RC1 without too much trouble (edit boot.ini for RC1). However I cannot load RC2 or Final Release. RC2 install gives me an "Inaccessible Boot Device" after loading the drivers that work fine in RC1. 2195 gives me an error that "Setup cannot find any hard drives and connot continue" at the same point as RC2. I do not have RC3 to try. Any one managed to install 2195 or even RC2 with this controller? Any suggestions?

Actually I have it working now. Geru pointed me in the right direction but I did find buried on the Promise website the directions that I followed. The URL is www.promise.com/techsupport/Notes/windows_2000_rc2_installation_FT66.htm I have one large partition of 30 gig and other than that followed the directions exactly. Many thanks to Geru for his help. Ed

I cannot get this game to run at all with my Voodoo3. It worked great in Glide mode with my Voodoo2. I replaced my old stuff with a Voodoo3, clean install of RC1 or RC2 (same results with either) and tried all of Seldzar's stuff from his site and still not working. Thanks.

Has anyone gotten Sports Car GT to work in Glide mode with a Voodoo3? I can get it to work in D3D mode but not in Glide. I have tried all of Seldzar's stuff to no avail. I have tried RC1 and RC2 (2072 and 2128). Any help would be appreciated.

I finally have mine working under RC1 (2072). I downloaded the new Controller Bios from www.bp6.com and it works fine to boot from. I did find that I had to reformat my second harddisk that was NTFS to FAT32. Hard lockup as NTFS but boots fine now. My primary HD is Maxtor 11.5g ATA/33 and my second one is WD 8.4g ATA/66

My system: BP6 with dual CPUs @ 525 SB Live 128 meg RAM Sidewinder Precision Pro USB Gravis Gamepad Pro USB Windows 2000 RC1 build 2072 USB seems to work fine. My only complaint is with the Gravis Gamepad. In both Win98 and Win2K it is my only choice of controllers that works in an actual game if both controllers are plugged in. They both show up in Control Panel but only the Gamepad actually works in a game. Problem resolved if I unplug the gamepad and only use the Sidewinder. Ed

I have the BP6 with build 2072. It works perfectly with the two devices I have (Gravis Gamepad PRO and Microsoft Sidewinder PRO). It came up all by itself once I enabled the IRQ for USB in the BIOS. It also works just fine with Windows 98. As far as suggestions for how to fix yours, I have none. I am just lettng you know that other people have no trouble with theirs.

Anyone know where drivers to use UDMA 66 hard drives for the ABIT BP6 dual processor board can be found?
