To be honest I would guess the processor is bad. You can try measuring the voltages off of the PS with a volt meter to see if they are close to what the sticker on the PS says. There is some tolerances but I don't know them exactly. 30-45 dollars for a PS is still pretty cheap if that is the problem. Some small shops have test tables where you can set your system up and work on it on premises and the one near me allows you to try out different inexpensive parts (ie floppy, PS)to help in troubleshooting. As far as 3DMark goes: Fastest = 4287 FSAAx2 = 3236 FSAAx4 = 1711 Dual PIII @ 800 Voodoo5 5500 Win2k Beta1 drivers Ed

My Dual PIII 800 with a Voodoo5 5500 running Quake 2 @ 800x600 pulls 128 FPS with FSAAx2. It pulls 66 FPS with FSAAx4 while burning a CD, typing this in IE and running the RC5 client in the background. I wopuld say that you could most likely run the Voodoo5 at FSAAx4 with your machine but it will depend on the game. My tests of the card seem to indicate what I have read elsewhere: The framerate at FSAAx2 is about 1/3 less than no FSAA and FSAAx4 is about 1/2 of FSAAx2. Ed

Go to www.2cpu.com and read the forum there about motherboards. A lot of people are using the Tyan boards and there experiance varies with the user. Ed

Works on mine. Only draws about 5 frames but doesn't crash. End results are very near what I get in Win98. ------------------ Supermicro P6DBE Dual PIII 600 @800 Voodoo5 5500 ,Promise Fasttrak66 IDE Raid, SBLive -
NTFS or FAT32 on WD 8.4 gig with one partition and only Win2
EM replied to pr-man's topic in Customization & Tweaking
You can't convert from NTFS to FAT32. There may be some third party program to do it but it is not part of NT or Win2k. Ed -
Which motherboard? If the processors are truly Celerons, then there is probably no official support available. The ABIT BP6 is the only Dual board that will run the 466 Celerons in dual mode without using slocket adapters since it is a socket 370 board. I don't know of any 466 celerons that are not socket cpus so if the motherboard is any other it will be a slot board and sloket adapters would be necessary. If the motherboard is a slot type then the question is which sloket adapters are being used? Just a few things to think about. Ed

All depends on what you want to play on it. I have a Compaq Armada M700 with PII 400 288 meg RAM, 10 g HD, DVD, LS-120 and it works great for everything I want to run on it. Not so great for Quake II, III, Flight sims, Driving games, etc but AOE, AOE2, Tiger woods Golf 99, Links LS99 etc work very well. The video chipset is what can make the difference. Mine is the ATI Rage+ mobile. Ed

My dual 600E's run just fine at 6x133 (800) on my Supermicro P6DBE. Your luck at running up to 933 may be just as good. Ed
-
My Supermicro P6DBE doesn't give me an option to change the divider in the BIOS nor set the AGP speed. I guess I will just keep on using my Voodoo3 2000. Ed

I can't get my TNT2 Ultra to run any D3D apps without a hard lockup. I never get more than a few hours since most of the time I run games. Ed
-
Anybody had any luck with any dual processor system, TNT2, and ANY TNT, Detonator, Geforce, whatever video drivers? I cannot get my system to pass even the most basic tests (ie: directx diagnostic) without a hard lockup if I use any video card based on TNT2 chipset. My same system with a Voodoo3 runs just fine. Not running any background tasks at all. Specs are: Supermicro P6DBE Dual PIII 600 128 meg ram IBM 15g HD Toshiba 6x DVD Win2k Pro Retail.

I have tried it with 2 different ABIT BP6 boards which my other two computers are running on with the same results. My power supply is 300 watt Supermicro full tower server case.

I actually had no luck running this game under Win95 (No sound)or on anything faster than a 486 (ran to fast to play). Ed

Runs fine on my machine. Only error I get is when actually starting the game it says "Could not set string registry key PALFILE". After I click ok it runs just fine. Ed Voodoo 3 2000 AGP Supermicro P6DBE Dual PIII 600 128 Meg Ram Promise Fasttrak 66 SB Live

Says the same thing on mine no matter what CDRom I use (SCSI Plextor, IDE Toshiba DVD, IDE Asus, IDE BTC, IDE Creative). Doesn't seem to make any difference as far as installing. I have wondered if it might be that if the game sees a SCSI controller it assumes no CD? Ed

Anybody using this card with Win2k? How is it? Any issues? SMP (ie:Q3)? Thanks. Ed

SuperMicro P6DBE. Runs very very fine with my dual 600 pIII's at 672. Ed

Do a search of the forum for Promise Fasttrak and you will find your answer. I have previously posted this and do not have the time or want to post it again. Ed

Nice to have a joint effort for gaming under NT. I found your NTGames page a couple of years ago but it is still nice to have more than one resource when you have a question. Ed
