I installed win2000 and i got the update for ms proxy 2.0 ( run update then it installs proxy) and it installs fine, but when i reboot all of the proxy services are stopped, and if i goto start them i have to shutdown the www services. the only services i see relating to that are default website and administration website... i close those and it still tells me to close the www services. where do i goto close those? or is my server screwed up? i figured the website ones would be what i had to shutdown. iis5 comes installed in win2000 server and it does work fine until i put in proxy 2.0... i ran the update which updates something then launches the install so i did that right as well.. but i can shutdown all of the www services then try to start the web proxy service but it says the www service is running and must be shutdown although i know it is closed. I just said screw it and put nt4 back on last night but i'd still like to figure out what theproblem was.. i like win2000 hehe.. Thanks. Jeff.

My Viper550 wont boot into svga mode in w2k build 2031... I can hit f8 at bootup and select vga mode and it works great. ive tried every tnt driver there is and none of them work. any ideas? When I let it boot to svga mode everything goes blank after the loading progress screen(says win2k pro on it) and it hangs there. my machine: Abit bx6 2.0 Celeron 300a @467mhz SB 128PCI Diamond Viper550 IBM Deskstar 16.8g PEL 1600 Scsi card (yes its junk) USR 56k Internal Netgear FA310TX network card

Could it be that my viper 550 is an early edition or something that might not be compatable? i upgraded the firmware to 1.95c and it still gives me the same crap... oh actually i forgot to add, i tried my brothers asustek v3400TNT(i think?) and i started it up once and got the same problem after it installed a driver then i gave up. Could it be my motherboard? i upgraded the firmware on that also so its the newest revision so im still lost thx. Jeff

I have Win2k Professional beta3 (2031) and when I install it on my machine it finds all the components great and installs the drivers but when I let it boot into SVGA mode the screen goes blank after the windows 2000 loading progress screen, but I can boot it in VGA mode and everything is fine... ive tried every TNT driver there is for w2k but I cant seem to get it to work.. any suggestions?
