i just fixed a similar prob. 2 comps could ping but network places wouldnt see the other computer (or itself). both were able to access the net throught a 3rd computer running sygate though. my solution? i changed the ip on my sygate comp to a different range. now my 2 computers are 192.168.0.x and the sygate comp is 192.168.50.x. i did this and now both copmuters see each other in network places and i changed the gateway ip so they could use the net again. viola!

I dont remember how to change the view of ALL folders in explorer to 'list' instead of the big icons. ive done it before, just forgot how thanks!

nevermind, i just figured it out. i found the 'folder option' by clicking tools in explorer and the button wasnt grayed out. i was looking at folder option in Control Panel and that ons is grayed out. feeling pretty stupid now.

jerry, ok that didnt work. after i closed explorer and then opened it again, everything was back to big icons. so i tried unchecing remember... and then listed and then re checked remember. still doesnt work. defaults back to big icons. andy, i thought that was how i did it last time, but that button is grayed out. this is very annoying

in 2128 2k detected both my NIC's and installed the drivers for them, but now in 2151, 2k can says it doesnt have drivers for one of them. so i unpacked the driver.cab from 2128 and it still couldnt find any. the NIC in question is a D-Link DFE-540TX.

im trying to network win2k 2072 and win98. i can see the other computer from here and i can see this one from the win98 box. i can browse around other computer but if i try get into this computer it asks for a password. what pass word does it want. i tried the administrator pass with no luck. tried guest. i have file/print sharing turned on on both machines. i have a drive on this one setup for sharing. when i try to connect to this one, the dialog comes up asking for the password and the resource is listed as \\computer_name\\IPC$ any thoughts?

First i had 1946. cable modem worked. then skipped to 2099 and 2114. cable modem worked. Now i have 2072 cuz i want my tnt to work (which it does!) but i cant get my cable modem to work now. in the net neighbor hood thing, its listed as connected but i cant get anything. I run my Road Runner setup and it has to connect to a setup server but i get an error that says it cant get an ip address. i know its not the isp cuz i booted to win98 and ran setup and it worked. the only difference since the previous builds is i have 2 NIC's installed. win2k doesnt report any conflicts... What gives. Any thoughts?

so if i want ogl AND d3d for my tnt1 i should use 2072 and not what i currently have, 2114?
