PLEASE HELP US WITH OUR MX300 CARDS!

I just installed NT4 Server, and installed the latest Diamond drivers for my MX-300. The web site said the file was for both win98 and NT4. I installed the sound card drivers, and I get the volume speaker in the sys tray, and the other thingy(the diamond applet I think)in the systray, but I get no sound. Being new to NT server, I really don't know how to trouble shoot it since NT says it's installed fine. I dual boot Win98 and the sound card works perfectly. Do you think I should go with the aureal vortex refernce drivers? I am thinking I will try that when I get home from work. Has anyone else had this problem? AS I said, it installed fine, and all the multimedia properties shows that everything is working, I just have no sound. -Someone

    NTFS or FAT16?

Thanks Phillip. I have not heard of that util for win98 reading NTFS, sounds like a sweet utility. What is your experience with it? I have also been looking into Windows Millenium. It is supposed to be a non-dos true 32bit OS. I am having problems seeing if it supports SMP. I get my new motherboard and cpu's today, and am still not 100% sure of what OS I am going to go with. If Millenium supports SMP, then I will try that first for the FAT32 support. If I decide with NT4 Server, I will do as you(and others) suggest, and go with a 2G FAT16 partition for win98, and the remaining 8G as NTFS. Wish me luck! =)~ -Someone

    NTFS or FAT16?

Hello, I have just ordered an Abit BP6 and dual 550MHZ processors. I intend on installing NT4 Server when it arrives. I have used NT4 a few times before and have always used FAT16 for the file system. On this new PC I intend on also having Win98 bootable as well(yes I know that there is no SMP support). My question is, will I benefit by using NTFS over FAT for NT4? Will the OS run faster/better? Is it possible to have a multiple boot for FAT16/32 and NTFS on the same drive? Does NTFS support partitions over 2 GIG? If it gets too complicated, I will just fall back on total FAT16, I just hate the partition limitations(I have 2 10G drives). Any help, comments, would be greatly appreciated. -Someone
