    Win2k FTP server

Have you tried creating a short cut in the FTP root of IIS that points to the other hard drive?

    About opening your guest account!!

I totally agree. I think it is better security and practice to create user accounts for those boxes you wish to have access to your shares in NT or 2000. Guest access is a cheap hack that can come back and bite you in the butt.

    Command prompt

Windows 2000 as with NT 4 has a command-line emulator, it is not MS-DOS.

Windows 2000 Server DNS Problem, Please Help!

Your DNS setup seems correct in the fact that those domains including your main one resolve correctly. You do not have reverse DNS setup however but I doubt this would make a difference. I think the problem lies in the IIS 5 configurations of the main website. Double check the host headers configuration as well as the web root to see if they are pointing to the correct directory.

Did you enable Samba to support encrypted passwords?

    Everquest on Win2000?

You need to install the beta nVidia drivers for your TnT card. This will enable Direct3D under Win2000. You can find the beta drivers, latest version is 3.69, at www.reactorcritical.com After the drivers are installed goto Start-->Run-->dxdiag.exe and click on the Display tab. This will tell you if Direct3D is enabled under Win2000. I was playing EverQuest just in fine with my TnT2 since beta 3. Hope this helps.

    :suffers from EQ withdraw ;-)

Strange, my Win2K box running build 2128 run EQ just fine with my TnT2. I installed the 3.53 drivers and have had no problems since. Well the South Karana zone as some trouble loading at times.

    EverQuest and TNT how to?

What build of Win2000 are you running. If you are using build 2099 or later then Direct3D support is only available if you have DirectX 7 compliant drivers. I am running EverQuest on a TnT2 on RC1 without any issues.

What is the build of W2K RC2 ?

Microsoft didn't take out D3D support per se. They made it so in order to have D3D to work under Win2000 you have to have DirectX 7 compliant drivers. Some companies such as 3dfx and S3 (I think) did provided drivers, though not incredibly stable. nVidia hasn't supplied any DirectX 7 based drivers yet.

EQ and Win2K and various video cards poll

EQ = EverQuest. Pretty popular and addicting online role-playing game. I am running RC1 with a TnT2 based card and everything works perfectly. Later builds such as 2114 and RC2 (2128) don't have hardware D3D support.

Anyone tried RC2 and a TNT2 for gaming?

It is pretty frustrating not getting D3D hardware support under Win2K. The blame shouldn't be on placed on Microsoft rather the manufacture. MS said that they needed to provide DirectX 7 drivers in order to support hardware D3D. nVidia has not done so and we are all left without D3D support. I am in the same boat as everybody here. I want to try RC2 but am holding off still D3D support is available. I am pretty certain that this driver issues will be resolve by the time Win2K goes gold.

Anyone tried RC2 and a TNT2 for gaming?

General consensus seems to indicate that D3D is still broken under RC2 (build 2128). I have a TnT2 as well but have been hesitant to try it since D3D currently works for me under RC1. Hopefully either nVidia or Microsoft will get drivers out that will support D3D under RC2.

    NHL 2000 and Win2K build 2072

Is anybody able to get NHL 2000 to work under Win2K RC1? I get the error message saying nhl2k.exe as generated errors and an error log is being created. Other D3D games such as EverQuest work fine. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Games under win2k

The general consensus is that the interim build 2114 has "broken" Direct3D support. D3D is enabled only when DirectX7 compliant drivers are installed. There is a registry work around for the VooDoo line of cards but none that I know of for the TnT/TnT2. Your best bet is to downgrade to RC1 (build 2072) until RC2 comes out sometime next week or so.

just a thought for build 2114 users

Good advice as I made the upgrade to Build 2114. Direct3D failed to work for me though the delay in dragging files and folders was eliminated for me. There are those who love to lived on the edge so they gotta try the latest build of everything. BTW, the latest build is 2126. Supposedly it is a candidate for being RC2. Hopefully the D3D issue with TnT/TnT2's are fixed.
