I don't understand how that will work. With having a USB modem you are taking out of the picture the cat 5 cable are you not? If I'm correct all the traffic goes through USB and not the old way. Please explain how my USB modem and a linksys router will work? Thanks,

What program is the best for overclocking a Geforce(2) card under W2K? Seems that after turning on the coolbits feature with the nvidia drivers and going through the initial reboot and setting the clock and mem speeds everything works fine until you reboot then the settings are set to default, this must be a driver issue. If anyone can recommned a good program to use, I really don't want to use powerstrip being that I don't need the other features that it offers. Ok.. Unless you are having an IRQ conflict, like a piece of hardware is not working then there is no reason to change any IRQ, I don't belive there is a way to change an IRQ even if you where having one. W2K set's it's own IRQ settings when installing a piece of hardware. It's quite nice considering you would have all kinds of problems with IRQ conflicts under w9x... So just leave things as they are and you will be fine. ....

Yo everyone, Thought we could use a new thread....just so jdmuldge can f*uck with us some more...what an ass... Anyways.... Just downloaded Whistler off the MDSN site (you must have an account) and all I can say is WOW! The install was a breeze, I was asked 2 questions and was given the option to change my network settings and that's it. At this point I have confirmed that my Geforce 2 card works fine using the 6.31 W2K drivers. Q3,HL,Star-Trek Elite Force and UT work just fine,(still have more games to test) The look and feel of the new OS is much different than W2K. The desktop can be a little annoying but you can revert back to classic settings if you wish. All my hardware except for my SB Live 5.1 card was installed and is working fine. I'm going to try and install the 5.1 drivers and see if I have sound. If all goes well and my current games and apps will run on this new OS I may switch over, but I'm going to give it a good testing first. I'll post more info when I have done more testing. If you can get yours hands on Beta 1 I would suggest giving it a try but partition and dual boot rather than doing and upgrade or clean install. Liveware 5.1 works just fine with Whistler, but you must have one of the new 5.1 cards to use it. ....

There are not a lot of boards out there to choose from. I have the Tyan Thunder 2400 i840 chipset, it supports dual 1 gig cpus but I'm not sure if Tyan is making it anymore. I would wait for the new chipsets to come out from intel, don't know when that will be. There are not a lot of dual mb that support i gig cpus, these boards are not real feature rich but more made for the corporate server market. I have not tried to upgrade W2K to Whistler Beta 1. I instead made a 5 gig partition on one of my drives and installed a clean copy of Beta 1. I'm now dual booting W2K and Whistler without any problems. I would recommend dual booting just to make sure you are not going to have any hardware or safotware issues with Beta 1. If all goes well for me in the next few days with testing all my current W2K software and games I will make the switch over but not untill all my current software is working with it. ...
