unless your doing dual monitor, no theres no way I know of that you can do that. Unless of course you have cable that will go from 2 video outputs to one monitor input. The 2d on your geforce should be quite good....are you using any pass through cables? Like do you still have your voodoo2's installed?.....if so get rid of the passthrough cable(basically get rid of the voodoo2's) and you should notice better 2d quality. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

First of all changing your drives won't do jack. And who cares?........if it's not doing anything who cares.......clear the log when you think of it. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

My understanding of cable modems(mine in particular) is that it is treated as a lan connection via your ethernet card. Therefore you shouldn't need drivers for the modem. My modem plugs into my network card via an rj45 cable and with proper network settings I am rocking. Yours could be quite different however. Any more info?? ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

O yeah i saw that and promptly removed the software. The controller works fine without it, one game I have(silkolene honda motocross GP) doens't work correctly with my controller till the software is in and you can map the buttons to keystrokes. But then the control gets sh*ty. So out it came and out is shall stay and so should it for you! ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

Nope, you gotta tell win2k that you have added a second processor but it's a piece of cake. And you don't need to format. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com [This message has been edited by Seldzar (edited 07 March 2000).]

What the hell is wrong with SBlive and MPS systems!
Seldzar replied to Silent-IQ's topic in Hardware
1st off the problems you describe sound suspiciously like nvidia issues. However, disable acpi and all that in your bios. If that doens't change anything REMOVE the card from your puter and see if it continues. If so then it's not your card. If it is your card try a different pci slot, bring the hardware acceleration down in dxdiag for your sound card. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com -

My sblive works flawlessly with my SMP system as well as many other peoples systems. The problem is probably your nvidia drivers. Have you check dxdiag for direct sound issues or drivers related issues? What drivers are you using for your live? You say it locks the computer, what locks the computer? You looking at the monitor? You clicking on explorer? You listening to a cd? what?? ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com -
I think your one of the few endangered species of stable nvidia users. I have tried a TNT2 and a Geforce and man it was horrible, plop my V3 back in and bang everything just works. Now thats nice. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

That Car analagy is not relevent here. If the car cost less than a few dollars to produce and you had 10's of millions of them and were making billions off the sales of the other cars would you even notice the one car gone? No, you would be more concerned with the guy just over the way selling the stolen cars from you for a lot less and saying they were legit cars from you. Piracy is piracy from the smallest to the biggest, it's all a matter of what you believe and if you give f**k. Do you? =) ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

Yes it does.

Boot into safe mode.....or last known good config, or hell a boot disk and rename that file. Then try booting again. Also remember the last few things you installed as one of them is bound to be the culprit. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

Does the win2k-drivers from 3dfx suck or is it just win2k?
Seldzar replied to Turbo Grunkamoj's topic in Games
Hey, I didn't want it to sound accusing or anything I just didn't think that any voodoo card could push q3 that high, I mean it's q3, 3d card fill rate killer. Care to share you tweaks? ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com -

Seldzar replied to Turbo Grunkamoj's topic in Games
Personally I don't think you were getting 90 fps what so ever. I have a faster cpu than you and a voodoo3 3000 and I have NEVER seeing it higher than 60-70 range on the lowest res and settings. At 1024 i hit around 40fps. The openGL icd is MUCH better than the one in 98. Not to mention the memory management, disk access and overall better performance of win2k, I would say theres something up with your PC. Did you do a fresh install or an upgrade? How much of your ram is in use? Did you turn off all non essential services? Did you close other apps while doing this or leave them open? Mine tested at 45 fps in 8x6 on timedemo 1 and most settings at default. I have 2 celeron 366's @ 528 and 384mb of ram. My v3 is clocked at 166 as well. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com -
For your situation I would recommend the voodoo3 2000. Cheap/value for your dollar and good performance. Not to mention excellent drivers in win2k. Oh yeah and having that extra API(Glide) makes it handy if a game doesn't like running in d3d on win2k. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

Boot from the win2k cd or a win98 disk and start the win2k install and do an emergency repair. if you didn't make an emergency repair disk then chances are your f**ked as you can't copy the files manually. Try getting ntfs for 98 and see if you can copy autoexec.nt and config.nt and config.log from the x:\WINNT\repair dir. Config.log is hidden(actually it may be user.log) or something to that effect. http://www.win2knews.com [This message has been edited by Seldzar (edited 29 February 2000).]

Anyone got problems with voodoo3 retail drivers for win2k
Seldzar replied to Hellstorm's topic in Games
How much do ya want for that card? I'm serious, I have dual monitor and dual voodoo3's would rock Oh yeha and no problem with the drivers, they run smooth. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com [This message has been edited by Seldzar (edited 28 February 2000).] -
I'd say the majority of your problem is the crappy Nvidia drivers. Having more ram would help as well. But the faster cpu will help. My games run super smooth in win2k but thats just cause the voodoo3 drivers are a tad better than nvidias at the moment. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com

Blah blah blah, blah blah....blah blahblahblah. Blah BLAH BLAH BLAH! o yeah and BLah! face it, win2k is too complex for some people and doesn't suit the needs of others. Stick with what you know and what works, Simple isn't it. And stop telling us how much it sucks for you. [This message has been edited by Seldzar (edited 26 February 2000).]

Theres an option in the 3dfx tools that lets you choose to use your monitor or not when using tv out. Also the resolution you want to output is 720x 576. This is the optimum for your tv, anything higher is pointless. ------------------ §E£DZÅR http://www.win2knews.com [This message has been edited by Seldzar (edited 26 February 2000).]

Do you actually look before you think/post? Try opening the setwin95.zip file and WOW look at that.....there's image.cfg right there with it!

That override is for dx based games, NOT q3 as it's openGL. You can specify your refresh rate in an autoexec.bat file for q3 or in the console. set r_displayRefresh 85 or set r_displayRefresh "85"
